Turn Your Old Gold Into Cash!

Best Gold Buyers

With the price of gold near record levels, there are many scrap gold buyers who are looking to offer individuals good money for their items. You can find the best scrap gold buyers by using the Internet. I'll show you how.

The Best Scrap Gold Buyers

Gold items like earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings are the types of items that scrap gold buyers are looking to purchase. The items are typically broken or damaged and individuals usually keep them in an obscure area of their jewelry box. By selling these items to gold buyers, individuals are able to free up space in their jewelry boxes and turn those items into extra cash.

The prices for gold items vary, as each piece may contain different qualities of gold. An easy way to find out what type of gold your jewelry contains is to locate the marking or insignia. The markings are located on the post of an earring, the inside of a ring, or the clasp of necklaces and bracelets. Authentic pieces of gold will contain a readily available karat stamp.

Your jewelry will have common karat stamps such as 10k, 14k, 18k, or 24k. The purest form of gold is marked with a 24k and will bring the highest price from the company that you are looking to use. If you have multiple pieces of gold items that you want to sell, you should separate the gold into the various types, as each group will bring a different price.

Read Cash for Gold Reviews

You should visit the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, so that you can search for companies that are accredited by the BBB. You can also see any potential bad history filled with complaints that have been filed against the company by unhappy customers. In order to receive the best price and service, make sure you deal strictly with reputable gold buyers.

Getting rid of unwanted or broken gold has never been easier or more profitable. By locating the best scrap gold buyers, you will quickly and easily turn those items into cash.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
what is the best gold buyer out there?
I want to sell some gold, i want to know where i can sell my gold for the best pay.

    • ANSWER:
      dubai or india

  2. QUESTION:
Who buys gold for the best price other than those slick advertising gold buyers on tv?

    • ANSWER:
I've taken profits from my trading accounts (stocks) and am sitting on the money for now as I expect gold and silver will drop in February. Nothing ever moves indefinitely in a straight line, even precious metals.

When gold drops to 0 or thereabouts, I'll start to nibble.

I would never ever consider buying or selling gold from a TV dealer under any circumstances. In this day of Google, it is simple enough to figure things out without having to settle for stupid TV nonsense designed to make me feel secure. When it comes to spending money intended to help provide for my later years, I need to keep my eyes open every moment. TV ads are for the lazy, uninformed and foolish. I check everything out. I also know from friends in the business that virtually all those TV ads are scams.

If I were selling old gold (jewelry) of my own, I'd research. As a matter of fact, some bullion distributors also buy gold. It never hurts to call them if you have accounts with them and ask for their suggestions. As for determining best price, it's important to watch the price of gold daily and throughout the day if possible to log on. Day-to-day and intra-day fluctuations aside, the trend is your friend in most investment vehicles and should be watched constantly.

  3. QUESTION:
Who is the best on-line gold buyer?
I'm wanting to sell some old gold jewelry to pay off some bills, and don't know who will give me the best price for them.

    • ANSWER:
http://www.goldintomoney.com has some info on selling gold and jewelry online

  4. QUESTION:
Where is the best place to sell broken gold jewelry?
I have a broken gold necklace and want to sell it. However, I have seen in many news stories that those gold buyers in the mall, and on TV, are scammers and only give you a fraction of the gold's actual worth. Who should I look to sell to? Jewelry store?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, do not go to one of the places that pay you a portion of what ever gold is selling for via the stock market. The "Cash for Gold" places will scam you for as little as 30% of what the true price of gold is that day.

Every city has one place in town that pays what ever the stock market (or very very close to what the stock market is that day) is at that day. So if you have an ounce of gold, and gold is at 1,100, they will give you 1,100. They then sell sell it to a guy who melts it down and makes it into rings, and triples the price and resales it at places like Kay Jewelers (huge scam btw).

So what you need to do is call around to each place in town that buys gold and ask them how much they pay. Usually the best one is just called "Gold and Silver" and is not a pawn shop. A pawn shop will give you about 40-60% on gold. Make some calls. And do not look on Craigslist for a private buyer, they pay about 80% of the true price--all they do is run to the gold shop and make 20% off what you just sold.

      Hope this helps.

  5. QUESTION:
Where is the best place online to sell my gold?
Looking for a fair and good paying online gold buyer. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
Clark Howard.com (the guy from CNN) was screaming on TV not to do this.
They will offer you much less than half of what any pawn shop will offer you.
Once your send in your gold - they melt it - so there is no chance of getting it back in case you are dissatisfied with your measly check.

  6. QUESTION:
What's the best way to sell gold jewlry to raise cash?
I need cash for down payment. I've heard people selling gold by mailing in. Doesn't sound possible to me to send off valuables to an unknown person and get desired outcome, that's why I'm asking here. I haven't seen buyers coming to my area to buy gold, that sort of thing. Your input is much appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
      You have two options:

The first is to shop your valuables around town to local jewelers. You can generally price compare them so that you know you are at least getting a competitive bid. The problem is that most jewelers are simply middlemen to a refiner which means you aren't going to get the absolute most for your items.

The second option is to use a national buyer. I would avoid the suggestion of the poster below who recommended goldintomoney since they are simply a front for Cash4Gold. Cash4Gold has a horrible reputation and doesn't pay anything compared to reputable buyers. See their BBB report here: http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/businessreport.aspx?companyid=16000679

I have had two good experiences with American Gold and Silver. They paid me decent money for the gold and diamond rings I sent them and I was more comfortable with them because they are a subsidiary of a publicly traded company (DGSE Companies, Inc.) Plus their BBB rating is A+: http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/gold-silver-and-platinum-dealers/dallas-gold-and-silver-exchange-in-dallas-tx-356

Hope that helps. Good luck on the new home!

does anyone know about any legit places to sell my gold? a place that gives you the best price for your gold and doesn't screw you over?

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know what cash4gold will pay. I do know from my past experience, that I sent them a scrap jewelry ring and they paid me .26. I rejected the offer and they returned my ring promptly. I then found another company, http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ that paid me 3 for the same ring!! and they enclosed a track able Fedex pack along with 0 insurance as opposed to some crappy envelope from cash4gold that you cant even track. I really got burned a couple of times using a couple of different cash for gold companies but with http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ I feel I finally found one that I could really trust with my valuables.

10 pts. up. i wanna sell a 14k bracelet and 14k necklace and jewelery buyers ripped me off on the offer. anyone know of a better place?

    • ANSWER:
Consumer reports has some good advice on selling gold:

"The Consumer Reports Money Adviser compared what one of the television companies offered for a gold band a couple of years ago with what a local jeweler and an on-line gold buyer would pay, the TV company paid a much lower price. Instead, take your gold to a reputable jeweler in your area for an appraisal. Note the carat of the metal, and ask the jeweler to tell you the weight in pennyweights or troy ounces. Use this online calculator to figure out the value based on the price of gold that day. Then quickly (because prices fluctuate) call several jewelry or coin stores and ask how much they pay for gold. Aim to get about 85 percent of what you calculated it’s worth. "

  15. QUESTION:
I've recently inherited a lot of items how do I tell what is of value?
A relative died and I inherited all of his things and I am trying to determine what of it is value and what is junk. He has a lot of jewerely that looks like gold and diamonds, but how do I tell if they're real or not? Also where should I go to get the best deal selling this stuff. A place like gold buyers? Pawn shop? Or what?

  16. QUESTION:
How much would I get at a pawn shop for a ,400 Ring?
Sadly, my marriage is ending in annulment for reasons I wish not to disclose. I no longer wish to keep the ring but do not know the best place to sell it, I have the papers for both the engagement and wedding ring (its saudered). WOuld I be better off at a "gold buyers?" or a pawn shop? What do you think they would give me? I have never pawned anything before.

    Thanks for your help

    • ANSWER:
It's hard to say. Really depends how much markup there was on the ring to get to the true value.

You might try these sites to sell the ring:

      exboyfriendjewelry.com

      diamondbistro.com

Or, take a look around and see how others are pricing their rings.

      Good luck!

I have some Tiffany jewelry, other good jewelry, Louis Vuitton purses & wallets, nic nacs from England, art.

I have sold items to gold buyers but got scammed. I have sold items through Ebay and Craigslist but it's time consuming and trying to deal with some people has been very difficult.

selling physical gold at a good price?
    hi,

what are the most reputable seller and buyers of gold bullion online? from what i have discovered so far, there is a huge difference in the cost you buy it at and the money you get when you sell it, however it could be that I have been looking at the wrong places. Please let me know the best sources to look at that enable easy and good price selling.

    Thank You

    • ANSWER:
I think you are finding the fallacy of buying gold bullion. You buy at a premium, and you sell at a discount. You might look at kitco. but I think you've got this problem where ever you buy and/or sell.

  19. QUESTION:
How do you sell jewelry on ebay?
I have this hand made 21k gold bracelet from Israel and the gold buyer said it's worth k. But he recommended that I sell it on ebay instead because it wasn't worth melting that.

So, how do people find out that this gold bracelet is real? Do I just post it on the title and hope for the best or what?

    • ANSWER:
No do not sell it on ebay! Something worth so much you will probably find troubles, sell it to the jewellery store many buy used gold, and they will melt down many little trinkets together not just one at a time, so how can it not be worth it? Plus I never heard of any saying that you would be better off selling this on ebay.

  22. QUESTION:
When selling jewellery should you clean it first?
Am about to sell some 1950's rhinestone and diamante jewellery. Also a couple of watches, silver and gold.
Some of the pieces, especially the silver, are tarnished.
Should I clean it all up first or is this best left to the experts/buyers, who know what they want?

    • ANSWER:
I'd leave it unless they look really bad.
You should definitely clean piercing jewellery, like earrings, for hygene reasons, but if it's just worn jewellery like braceletes and necklaces etc, you don't really need to.

  23. QUESTION:
How do I determine at what weight my gold jewelry would be paid at?
I know the weight. I have a very heavy gold chain and bracelet- together they weigh 2.5 oz, or 72 grams.
I know that currently gold is at about 1K per ounce, but obviously, I am not getting ,500?
They are estate pieces that would currently sell for much more than that in a jewelry store, if you could even find anything that heavy.

After some research on-line I see that unbroken or nice items like mine are often purchased by places like estate.com BUT..

What I want to know is how they determine the actual weight at which they pay since it is 14K gold not pure 24 KT gold. ehow.com has an article that just says to weigh it yourself, which I did as I have a digital scale, but they don't explain how to know you aren't getting ripped off or how they buyer determines how much gold is in your 2.5 ounces of 14KT gold. They say 14KT gold is something like 58% pure gold and the rest some sort of alloy for strength. So, do they take 42% off the weight to determine ounces they will pay at, or the actual weight of the gold item/ chains.

What would my 2.5 ounces of gold be worth if sold and best way to sell?

    • ANSWER:
You know, that price in the newspaper is for gold futures.
That's the price one pays for taking delivery on a quantity like maybe 100 ounces (I'm sure some futures trader could give you exact figures) but anyway, nobody, not even jewelers can buy fresh gold for spot prices.

Your jewelry isn't "fresh". It's been alloyed and God only knows how many times.

Your 17 grams equals 10.93 dwt (pennyweights).
Gold is measured by professionals by the Troy ounce.
      14k gold is 58.3% gold
So you have 6.37 dwt of fine (24k) gold after refining.

There are 20 dwt's in an ounce so your gold, at today's spot price is worth
      3.12

It's doubtful anyone will offer you that much for your gold.
You'd do well to get 75% of spot (2.34)

Of course if your piece is nice you might find a jeweler willing to take it on consignment and sell it for you. That often takes quite a long time though...

  26. QUESTION:
I can't determine weather the price of gold will rise or fall for my practice spread betting account? Plz help?
I am 18 and I am just learning how to spread bet with my basic understanding of technical analysis in line-dot charts and candlestick charts. I am a strong believer in the saying "the trend is your friend", and I placed a bet on the price of gold would fall based on the fact that the trend had went up all year so far and in the coming months and weeks, days, hours, minutes etc, and it took a turn at some point a few days ago and had been going down for hours during the day mostly. I bought at 1,114.5, it rose to 1,115 and I can't tell wether the price of gold is going to continue to rise or fall (hopefully fall!).

What I do know however is that where it stopped trading at the end of this weeks trading, I could tell that on a candlestick chart of gold, there was a spinning top within a 2-hour timescale chart which suggests to me that there is an indicision between buyers and sellers and thats where I'm not sure of where the trend is due to head.

Will it rise or fall from its current price of 1,115. Please give me a good resonable, easy to understand answer to earn maximum star best answer.

P.S. Sorry its too long of question.

    • ANSWER:
i agree with john here - you can either trade using a long term scenario (months) or short-term (hours/days); you can trade both and you can't use the analysis from your short term technical movements to affect decisions on a long term scale.

I sold my gold and silver two weeks ago anticipating an oil led retreat. The market is returning to equities, and gold has been too hyped up to go any further. The apocalypse which many predicted is not coming and the markets are showing signs that a recovery is on the horizon.

I am having my (probably) last litter of purebred puppies soon.I love raising them and finding them great homes but its alot of work, money, and I am having a harder time trusting buyers.Plus not to mention all the dogs and puppies without a home.I feed my dogs holistic food but I need something that people can find easy, puppies love the taste of,prefer no corn/wheat,and people are willing to pay for.Unfortunately the average person will not yet buy holistic food but I want to keep them far away from grocery store food.I will feed a little Merrick canned food also.I was thinking Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul, Blue Buffalo,Solid Gold, and so on but I wanted more opinions. Also I have a very strict contract.I want any puppy back if the new owner gets rid of them, must be kept inside, must maintain veterinarian care, and the list goes on.What else can I ask people?I want the very best for all my dogs(fosters)/puppies.Thank you.

    ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP

    • ANSWER:
Your first option should be to fund fully a retirement account. If you do this, and you have extra cash, then one of the best things you can do is open a DRIP Plan.

These powerful investment plans are seldom talked about because brokers make very little money when they suggest them. Yet, they have proven to be one of the best, if not the best, long-term strategy on Wall Street.

They are perfect for small investors, as well as big investors. They are safe and allow you to not care about whether the market is going up or down. They are a must for any serious investor.

I strongly recommend looking into it. They are great plans.

  41. QUESTION:
What kind of strategy would this company be applying?
I am doing an assignment about a company called Cash Connections. It is a company that basically purchases your gold and gives you money in return. They also offer services such as western union, bank transfers, etc. www.cashconnections.org

This is the question I have to answer:

What is Cash Connections strategy? Which of the five generic strategies discussed in Chapter 5 most closely fits the competitive approach that Cash Connections is taking?

I have to apply one of these generic strategies:

1- Best Cost Provider Strategy: -Make an upscale product at a low cost.
2- Focused (Niche Market) Strategy. Concentrate on narrow piece of market.
3- Focused (Low-Cost) Strategy. Offering a lower price than competitors.
4- Focused Differentiation Strategy: - Targets upscale buyers who want world class attributes (eg Rolex, Rolls Royce)

I was guessing it would be number one or two.

  43. QUESTION:
In this poem, where was Natasha for the three days she was gone?
    For three days Natasha
    The merchant’s daughter,
    Was missing. The third night,
    She ran in, distraught.
    Her father and mother
    Plied her with questions.
    She did not hear them,
    She could hardly breathe.

    Stricken with foreboding
    They pleaded, got angry,
    But still she was silent;
    At last they gave up.
    Natasha’s cheeks regained
    Their rosy colour,
    And cheerfully again
    She sat with her sisters.

    Once at the shingle-gate
    She sat with her friends
    -And a swift troika
    Flashed by before them;
    A handsome young man
    Stood driving the horses;
    Snow and mud went flying,
    Splashing the girls.

He gazed as he flew past,
    And Natasha gazed.
    He flew on. Natasha froze.
    Headlong she ran home.
‘It was he! It was he!’
    She cried. ‘I know it!’
    I recognized him! Papa,
    Mama, save me from him!’

    Full of grief and fear,
    They shake their heads, sighing.
    Her father says: ‘My child,
    Tell me everything.
    If someone has harmed you,
Tell us … even a hint.’
    She weeps again and
    Her lips remain sealed.

    The next morning, the old
    Matchmaking woman
    Unexpectedly calls and
    Sings the girl’s praises;
    Says to the father; ‘You
    Have the goods and I
    A buyer for them:
    A handsome young man.

    ‘He bows to no one,
    He lives like a lord
    With no debts nor worries;
    He’s rich and he’s generous,
Says he will give his bride,
    On their wedding-day,
    A fox-fur coat, a pearl,
    Gold rings, brocaded dresses.

    ‘Yesterday, out driving,
    He saw your Natasha;
    Shall we shake hands
    And get her to church?’
    The woman starts to eat
A [pie, and talks in riddles,
    While the poor girl
Does not know where to look.

    ‘Agreed,’ says her father;
    ‘Go in happiness
    To the altar, Natasha;
    It’s dull for you here;
    A swallow should not spend
    All its time singing,
It’s time for you to build
    A nest for your children.’

    Natasha leaned against
    The wall and tried
To speak – but found herself
    Sobbing; she was shuddering
    And laughing. The matchmaker
Poured out a cup of water,
    Gave her some to drink,
    Splashed some in her face.

    Her parents are distressed.
    Then Natasha recovered,
    And calmly she said:
    ‘Your will be done. Call
    My bridegroom to the feast,
Bake loaves for the whole world,
    Brew sweet mead and call
    The law to the feast.’

    ‘Of course, Natasha, angel!
You know we’d give our lives
    To make you happy!’
    They bake and they brew;
    The worthy guests come,
The bride is led to the feasat,
    Her maids sing and weep;
    Then horses and a sledge

With the groom – and all sit.
    The glasses ring and clatter,
    The toasting-cup is passed
From hand to hand in tumult,
    The guests are drunk.

    Bridegroom
‘Friends, why is my fair bride
    Sad, why is she not
    Feasting and serving?’

    The bride answers the groom:
    ‘I will tell you why
As best I can. My soul
Knows no rest, day and night
    I weep; an evil dream
    Oppresses me.’ Her father
Says: ‘My dear child, tell us
    What your dream is.’

‘I dreamed,’ she says, ‘that I
    Went into a forest,
    It was late and dark;
    The moon was faintly
    Shining behind a cloud;
    I strayed from the path;
    Nothing stirred except
    The tops of the pine-trees.

    ‘And suddenly, as if
    I was awake, I saw
A hut. I approach the hut
    And knock at the door
-Silence. A prayer on my lips
I open the door and enter.
    A candle burns. All
    Is silver and gold.’

    Bridegroom
    ‘What is bad about that?
    It promises wealth.’

    Bride
    ‘Wait, sir, I’ve not finished.
    Silently I gazed
    On the silver and gold,
The cloths, the rugs, the silks
    From Novgorod, and I
    Was lost in wonder.

    ‘Then I heard a shout
And a clatter of hoofs …
    Someone has driven up
    To the porch. Quickly
I slammed the door and hid
    Behind the stove. Now
    I hear many voices …
    Twelve young men come in,

‘And with them is a girl,
    Pure and beautiful.
    They’ve taken no notice
    Of the ikons, they sit
    To the table without
    Praying or taking off
    Their hats. At the head,
    The eldest brother,

    At his right, the youngest;
    At his left, the girl.
    Shouts, laughs, drunken clamour …’

    Bridegroom
    ‘That betokens merriment.’

    Bride
    ‘Wait, sir, I’ve not finished.
    The drunken din goes on
    And grows louder still.
    Only the girl is sad.

    ‘She sits silent; neither
    Eating nor drinking;
    But sheds tears in plenty;
    The eldest brother
    Takes his knife and, whistling,
    Sharpens it; seizing her by
    The hair he kills her
And cuts off her right hand.’

    ‘Why,’ says the groom, ‘this
    Is nonsense! Believe me,
My love, your dream is not evil.’
She looks him in the eyes.
    ‘And from whose hand
    Does this ring come?’
The bride said. The whole throng
    Rose in the silence.

    With a clatter the ring
    Falls, and rolls along
    The floor. The groom blanches,
    Trembles. Confusion …
    ‘Seize him!’ the law commands.
He’s bound, judged, put to death.
    Natasha is famous!
    Our song at an end.

  44. QUESTION:
Are you comforted seeing uber-libs beginning to recognize the fallacy of Nancy Pelosi?
and other dems at the levers of power?

    Obama's healthcare horror

Heads should roll -- beginning with Nancy Pelosi's!

    By Camille Paglia

Aug. 12, 2009 | Buyer's remorse? Not me. At the North American summit in Guadalajara this week, President Obama resumed the role he is best at -- representing the U.S. with dignity and authority abroad. This is why I, for one, voted for Obama and continue to support him. The damage done to U.S. prestige by the feckless, buffoonish George W. Bush will take years to repair. Obama has barely begun the crucial mission that he was elected to do.

Having said that, I must confess my dismay bordering on horror at the amateurism of the White House apparatus for domestic policy. When will heads start to roll? I was glad to see the White House counsel booted, as well as Michelle Obama's chief of staff, and hope it's a harbinger of things to come. Except for that wily fox, David Axelrod, who could charm gold threads out of moonbeams, Obama seems to be surrounded by juvenile tinhorns, bumbling mediocrities and crass bully boys.

Case in point: the administration's grotesque mishandling of healthcare reform, one of the most vital issues facing the nation. Ever since Hillary Clinton's megalomaniacal annihilation of our last best chance at reform in 1993 (all of which was suppressed by the mainstream media when she was running for president), Democrats have been longing for that happy day when this issue would once again be front and center.

But who would have thought that the sober, deliberative Barack Obama would have nothing to propose but vague and slippery promises -- or that he would so easily cede the leadership clout of the executive branch to a chaotic, rapacious, solipsistic Congress?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom I used to admire for her smooth aplomb under pressure, has clearly gone off the deep end with her bizarre rants about legitimate town-hall protests by American citizens. She is doing grievous damage to the party and should immediately step down.

  45. QUESTION:
"Promise" ring in lieu of engagement ring?
Ok, so my best friend got engaged last week. We went out to lunch yesterday, and she showed me the ring. It is very pretty (white gold, with a square cluster of diamonds), but I noticed it is smaller than most engagement rings. The band is very thin, and it does not have a set. She explained that it was actually listed in the section of the jewelry store's "promise rings" and that when her and her boyfriend (fiance now, I guess) went shopping for rings, the engagement rings were 2 grand + while this particular promise ring was only 500 dollars. She said that since they are tight on money (new baby), a large engagement ring is not important to her, and they are probably just going to get married in a very small ceremony with just immediate family. She thought that a smaller ring on her ring finger was all that was necessary to symbolize their engagement and subsequent marriage. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with this. After all, there is more to life than ginormous diamond rings. However, I was just wondering what is the deal with "promise rings?" Can they be used in place of engagement rings? Is it really up to the buyer (or wearer) on what they choose it to be a symbol of? I always thought promise rings were about abstinence..? Any info is appreciated! :)

    • ANSWER:
Its not like there is a law that states you must buy an engagement ring, and it must have this size band, and this carrot of stone.

The ring is simply tradition, and one that has grown far past its original purpose.

When I asked my wife to marry me, she made it quite clear that If I had proposed using the traditional style engagement ring, she would have been more than a bit upset that I wasted all that money on a bauble. Because in the end, thats all it is, a bauble.

Perhaps its just having been a single mom for 15 years that made her a little more pragmatic, but the money we saved by not getting an elaborate engagement ring made her much happier when it was used as part of a down payment on a house.

  46. QUESTION:
Excellent offer on an item listed on Craig List but I'm questioning whether or not to accept it! Please read!?
I have a gold necklace listed on craigslist.com. I have it priced at 00 obo. Its 70.9 grams so I know my price is low considering what the necklace retails for. I got an offer for 50 plus shipping. The buyer says she'll use Paypal but wants it shipped to her husband who's in Africa. She says he works with the US Embassy.... If she wanted to pay by money order or wire transfer I would know not to accept her offer... but Paypal would be safe, right?? I sent her an invoice but wanted to seek help before I actually went through with the agreement. I can always refund her money. Thanks in advance for your help! I will choose a best answer TODAY! i need this answered ASAP!

    • ANSWER:
My gut says this is a scam. I bet yours does too. 00 obo means you were expecting no more that 00, and here comes a nice big offer. Makes you want to ignore your gut.

Here's what I think will happen...
They'll pay into paypal with an echeck.
You'll see it as pending with an estimated date for clearing.
When you get to that date, you'll see that the clearing date is now a couple of weeks in the future.
Your buyer will want the merchandise and tell you that it's paypal's error.
In fact, they paid with a bad check, it bounced, and now is waiting to clear again. They're betting that you'll send out the merchandise because you'll believe that the problem is with paypal.

Or they've hijacked someone else's paypal account. It's a big red flag when you're sending to somewhere other than the confirmed address. Doing this negates any protection you have under paypal. No protection if you don't use the confirmed address.

You should always trust your gut. This does not have happy ending written on it. Please don't do it.

  47. QUESTION:
I'm writing a story and I need a good twist help me?
this is it sooo far so tell me what you think and what should happen next!

The floor was fresh with a Windex finish, stopped short only by a soft taupe carpet sprinkled sparingly with brown beads, the walls enveloping the room with an aura so calm only to be counteracted by my racing heart. Saks Fifth Avenue, is there any place more momentarily, substantially fulfilling? I stopped short once I caught a glimpse of the magnificent wonder that lay ahead of me. Just past the primly tailored suits and the sweet, summer gossamer skirts, a mannequin whose white smooth finish was covered massively with the most beautiful gown. It had a sweetheart neckline and a dip in the back. Gold and bronze iridescent beads swallowed the top portion of the dress and trickled down the large skirt that was a blackened organza river. The entire masterpiece was held up by only two dainty, thread-like straps.
He store clerk’s eyes bore into my back, her pre-order, studded, Gucci toe tapping anxiously against the gleaming, marble floor as I lightly fingered the delicate, frothy creation. Surrounding me were tall, glass cases protecting canvas and leather pocketbook creations by various designers, their labels looking at me like beautiful, unobtainable puppies, needing to be adopted.
My American Express card looked at me with its magnetic strip smile as I looked longingly at the beautiful bags. I had gotten rid of other cards, gone to classes; I knew how to resist this. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, unintentionally breathing in the smell of Italian leather. Saks really is a dangerous place for me to be. The overflowing makeup counters with their preppy sales women squirting overpriced perfume left and right were extremely luring, coming second only to the silk-satin and chiffon rivers that flowed upstairs. I scrambled down the escalator, my half price Prada heels clicking the whole way down.
I ran out into the noisy, garbage filled streets filled with hot dog and magazine stands, and took a breath, riding myself of the cash register ringing sound that filled my ears. The skyline swirled around me as angry cab drivers honked their horns. I hailed one of them over and requested a ride to Brooklyn. My friend Leah had just moved there with her husband Rick and their new daughter Annabelle. We usually take turns visiting each other but since Leah’s grandmother had recently been sick and she was staying with them, I made an extra trip.
    “Alice!” Leah greeted me warmly.
    “Lee!”
We embraced but were interrupted by a little girl in need of a diaper change. Leah excused herself knowing the smell of a baby’s dirty diaper was unbearable since I got the bandages removed from my recent rhinoplasty procedure.
Leah had been my best friend since forever, and since forever; we had been planning to grow up together in the Big City, get married together, the whole package. However, the two of us didn’t end up following the same path. I got a job as head buyer at Barney’s New York and an abundance of Botox, and Leah got a family. I had always been a little bit jealous of Leah but never had the guts to admit it. I’m not sure why but Leah sometimes seemed almost envious, like she longed for a life like mine. It showed at times like when she would offer to take my coat but before hanging it up she would longingly finger the Yves Saint Laurent embossed tag. The way I lived was shallow and unfulfilling but from the outside looked completely satisfying and untouchable.
Leah and her Rick always seemed so in love. He would send her flowers, she would send him cute little emails at work. I really tried not to pity myself but seeing them together, as a family, in their Brooklyn flat that could have come straight out of page 26 of the Crate and Barrel catalogue would, Botox aside, make my face freeze up.

So if I help you write this book by giving you my plot ideas, will you give me credit and royalties when you've sold the story? Didn't think so. You need to come up with the story yourself - it's YOUR story, and you need to know it inside and out, backwards and forwards. You don't want to run into the problem of a lawsuit down the road, where someone tries to lay claim to your story by saying they contributed part of the plot. Try coming up with a few ideas and bouncing them off of people you trust. Good luck!

  48. QUESTION:
Single father asking for advice on what to say to my daughter before her wedding day...?
My daughter is getting married in a little over a week and I do not know exactly what to say to her, although I feel like I have to say something; there is so much that I want to say.

I don't know where to begin; these years have flown by, and I suppose I worry that my daughter is jumping into something she isn't ready for. It isn't that her husband-to-be isn't nice. Brad is very nice, in fact. It just is that I want her to realize that her marriage is something that should expand her life, that should help her reach her fullest potential. I think she is seeing herself only in terms of a "happily ever after", and I want her to realize that she can't sit back and let life unfold like a fairy tale, that real life isn't like that. Most of all, I don't want her to forget her own value; I want her to remember who *she* is, not just accept being "Mrs. _______."

I know it hasn't been an easy life for her, and I'm afraid that she is running to a dream of someone else fixing every unhappiness for her. I wish life were as easy as that. I have tried to talk to her about all of this, but I stumble: At the dinner table last week, I asked her what her plans for the future were. She looks at me like I am senile. "Uhm, I'm getting married, remember?" I say that yes, I know, but what about beyond that. She only talks of her wedding, and how she imagines it will be. She brings up the payment of the wedding, and I assure her that I have found a buyer for the rare Netsuke collection I have amassed over the past 25 years, so that won't be a problem. Why go so expensive, though? Doesn't she want to maybe have some money to go to college on? I inquire earnestly, maybe a little too earnestly.

"Dad, Brad has a good job, and he didn't need college. You went to college and got an art degree, but what did that get you? All you've ever done is tattoos, and we never had enough money." I swallow my protest, and try to make the point that even with a degree the job market is tough, and she needs to give herself every chance she can. She reacts sharply, thinking I am criticizing Brad, and won't talk to me the rest of the evening. The next evening, when I gingerly discuss her wearing her mother's wedding dress, she still is smoldering, and shakes her head a curt "no." "Honey" I tell her, "If your mother had lived, she would have given anything to see you walk down the aisle in her dress." It is a lovely dress, too, with hand sewn seed pearls. It came from Italy, and was worn by my wife's mother before her, but it will not be worn by my daughter. In her opinion it is old, and she wants something new.

We have dinner with Brad and his parents, and my daughter is laughing with them like they are old friends. She seems to come alive around this, her new family. I am standing by Brad, and she looks our way. When I look at her, I see the little baby in her mother's arms, and I see the love in my wife's shining eyes. I remember being so glad that our new daughter had such a wonderful mother. What I wouldn't give to have her here now; a mother could talk to a daughter, and I know my wife would have been the best mother. Unfortunately my daughter got stuck with just me.

I see her looking our way and see the 9 year old girl looking up from the book she has been reading and asking me, "Daddy, will a prince marry me some day?" "Yes, a very handsome prince", the daddy says. "And will he have a coach to pick me up in?" the little girl asks. "Yes, a coach drawn by six white horses with gold plumes." The girl continues, "And what about the ball? Will I go to the ball and dance with the prince?" The daddy stands and bows, offering his hand to his daughter. "Yes, and he will dance with you while everyone looks on in envy." The father and daughter do a silly dance, the father, I remember, whistling what he supposes to be a waltz, while the little girl laughs and dances. "Daddy, will...."

"DAD!" My daughter's voice breaks my reverie. "Will you PLEASE talk to Aunt Lori about showing you some dance steps so you don't look like a fool during the father/daughter dance?" My daughter turns to her in-laws. "If we don't get him some help, he'll embarrass the hell out of us." They laugh at their new charming daughter-in-law and her clumsy, doubtless-will-embarrass-them father. I am an outsider already, superseded by the family she always wanted. During the meal, Brad's mother smiles and asks what sort of husband would I have wanted for my daughter. I blurt out that I only want someone who will always love her twice as much as I do. My daughter rolls her eyes, and I know I have stuck my foot in my mouth again.

    Anyway, all of these though
Anyway, all of these thoughts are jumbled inside of me, and I want to somehow tell my daughter what I feel, to let her know I love her, that I am sorry I have been a failure to her in so many ways. I guess I want to make up for what she lost by not having a mother, that confidence that a mother imparts to her daughter. I've only been a father, and fathers can spoil their daughters, and try to protect them, but they cannot make them strong. Only a mother can really teach a girl to be a woman who knows her own worth.

I know I'm not making much sense, but perhaps some of you can help me. What can I say to my daughter that says it all? how do I even know what is important to say? Before my daughter is gone, starting her new life, what can I do that will really be helpful to her? Thank you for being patient with me, and I appreciate any advice you can give.

  49. QUESTION:
my mom is a compulsive gambler/jewelry buyer??
This is strange...Ive been trying my best to figure my mother out for YEARS! she steals from friends and family. she stole a loan refund check of mine for 5g's when i was studying overseas and lied about it, leaving me stranded w/ no way of getting home. shes stolen the identities of my siblings and myself, placing numerous bills in our names, and never paying them. ive know for years that she was an alcoholic, and had a problem with gambling. I was snooping in her room this afternoon (im 24, i should really grow up....) and I found tons of expensive jewelry with prices still in the box. A diamond and gold necklace for ,000, a pair of earrings for 1250, another pair for 900. problem is, she never pays her bills on time, she and my dad share one car because they cant "afford" another. whats going on?? is this typical of a gamblers behavior?? shes always been a compulsive returner. she would go on a spending spree, buying shoes, clothes, etc and then returning them.
I have stumbled upon open websites on the computer for people who are addicted to gambling, she clearly knows she has a problem tho no one in my family has EVER spoken about it.

    • ANSWER:
Maybe it's time you talked with a doctor and/or a lawyer about this problem, as she has gone beyond the "buy and return" phase, and may face criminal charges if and when she is caught!
