You have a hobby that has few collectors. Most try to get the older coins or pick a country and try to put a type set together. There is even a large coin club that collects one coin from every country. Most dealers do not carry what you want for there is not many buyers and the profit is very low. Question

      How do I earn Coins?

      Answer

Coins are your ticket to winning free prizes. Each time you play a game or complete a search you will be awarded coins. Your total is displayed in the top right corner of the screen.

You must complete a game to receive coins. Therefore, if you close a game before it has concluded or you have run out of tries, your coin total will not be updated. We are aware that at this time our casino games are not awarding coins and hope to have this matter resolved shortly.

If, after completing a game, you don't see your coin total updated, we ask that you try refreshing the page.

    • ANSWER:
No, you can't buy coins for the Game Corner, you used to be able to when it was a gambling place with slot machines, but that was changed for the English releases of the game (Japanese versions still have the slot machines where you can also buy the coins). I know this isn't what you were looking for, but this site helped me out so much with that minigame: http://voltorbflip.lanowen.com/ It's not perfect but it is a great help.

  9. QUESTION:
which is the trusted site I can buy silver coins from?
Hi, I want to invest some money into pure silver coins, like canadian maple leaf .9999% where is the best place is to by them. If online which web site? and will they buy it back later like in 8 years... And is it good idea if I will buy coins or silver bars will be easier to sell back.

    • ANSWER:
When buying bullion, the most important point is to get it as cheap as possible, and later sell for the highest price. If one dealer charges even an extra %2, that can really eat into your profits. I've personally dealt mostly with APMEX and Bullion Direct (who has the Nucleo Exchange).

I suggest you use a price comparison site like http://coininferno.com Just scroll down and click on "Silver Maple Leaf," it'll list the current prices from dealers.

You may be able to get silver bars a bit cheaper, but when you sell them you'll also get a lower price. Coins also have the benefit that they may command some collector premium someday. For example, if you buy a bunch of Maples and then they decide to discontinue them, you can bet they'll be worth a lot more.

But why limit yourself? I usually buy a little bit of everything.

  10. QUESTION:
Is it wise to Buy coins in stapled carboard flips or folders?
I see the vast majority of coins in dealer shoppes are encased in those little square cardboard stapled flips. When you buy them like that, how are you suppose to store them? Do those flips have a plastic or mylar film over them? How do you protect those type encased coins from being damaged?

    • ANSWER:
They have a Mylar cover and it is best to remove the coin very carefully, so as not to scratch it on a staple. Buy some safety flips and store the coins in them. The safety flips are a harder plastic and once folded may break if you keep folding and unfolding it. The soft plastic flips have PVC in them to make them more pliable, but the PVC breaks down in time and the green slim it makes, can eat a coin. The problem with stapled holders is the staples may damage other coins, that have a different size hole, if the are stored together tightly. Also if you store the holders in the 20 per page 2x2 coin pages they mark up the pages and they are not reusable or look real bad afterwords. Hope this explains storage for you, if not Email me. Most coins I buy come in either cardboard stapled holders, or soft PVC flips and I have to take them out. Dealers need a cheap way of displaying while giving the coins a little safety.

Thank you very much in advance.
    Student.

    • ANSWER:
I would try the Silver and Gold Exchange. They are one of those mail-in buyers of gold and silver, but they will sell silver and gold bullion, coins, etc. They do not advertise this fact, I guess because the demand would probably outstrip supply if they did. I know they sell below retail because I buy from them from time to time. I have never found a better price anywhere else. You'll have to find their number on their website. http://SIlverAndGoldExchange.com

Is there any place to get coins for less of a markup? I am looking at this from an investment point of view and not a coin collectors point of view. I really do not care about the coin itself, but would prefer US coins.

      Buy GLD.
Voila - gold at no markup.

Just try to sell a coin - even at ebay.

t's much faster to get Dratini by earning coins than by using the Pokewalker. It takes transferring 2000 watts to the DS to unluck the area Dratini is found in. ( http://www.pokefarm.com/whats-new-in-heartgold-and-soulsilver-the-pokewalker.html )

Each watt takes 20 shakes/steps, thus...you'd need 40,000 steps before you could even have a chance at finding Dratini. Even then, she's rare.

      So.

Just keep playing that Voltorb flip! You can lose coins. Just figure out the obvious things, earn what you can each round, and quit before you risk too much. It adds up. Don't worry about getting high in level. I haven't beat level 3 yet and I've got almost 600 coins.

Does anyone know a non-auction website I can buy old coins and currency?
I am looking to buy cheaper coins and currency. I am just starting a collection and would like to buy some items. I am not looking to buy anything too expensive. I am looking for a site where I can buy items without having to go through a bidding process. Thanks for the help.

    • ANSWER:
It depends on what kind of coins you collect and how much you know about what you collect. Buying on line for the novice is not a good idea if it is a dealer sell site or an auction. Go lo some local coin dealers and see what they have to offer. There are no cheap deals when it comes to coins. You may pay a low price but will you every get your money back? I collect for the fun and the hunt more than anything else but keep in the back of my mind that someday I may want to sell some coins and want to be able to at least break even. Let me know what kind of coins you want and I will go through the weekly coin magazines and send you some web site addresses. I do not recommend any though.

  26. QUESTION:
Is it a good idea to buy 1/10 gold or silver coins for investment purposes?
I've been hearing all of this talk about the dollar decreasing in value, and that precious metals are the only true currency, so I thought I'd buy some coins. I don't have enough to buy 1 oz coins, so I thought each pay peirod a buy 1/10 coins and hold on to them. Is this a good idea

    • ANSWER:
Buying gold and silver is an excellent way to preserve your wealth - at least 15% I recommend. Stay away from the smaller denominations because you will be paying a higher price. For example - gold closed at 1338 on friday. A 1 oz american gold eagle will sell for about 00-,420 at a coin/bullion shop. If you bought a 1/10 oz gold coin you'd be paying 0-0 (1500-1,600 an ounce).

If you cant afford a one ounce gold coin then buy silver. Only hard part about silver is storing it :-) But ya don't buy silver or gold stocks - get the physical!

Also - someone says metals are a poor investment? Those statistics are odd. No one is alive that invested in 1801 - so what good are those statistics? Not to mention - what WAS the price of gold in 1801? Meaning how much did one dollar yield? I don't even know the answer to that cant find it. I DO know what the price of gold was though in 1833 and it was stable and stayed roughly the same until the 1960 and then it started to move up fast AND you know why? Because the dollar stopped being backed by gold and silver. Gold and silver are only worth more due to the fact the dollar isn't backed by anything physical - it is backed by "faith and hope". SO you should not look at buying gold as an investment BUT more as an insurance policy against the failing dollar.

  27. QUESTION:
Where in London can I buy coins to collect?
Also can you give me any hints on how start my own collection? I like modern coins

    • ANSWER:
I live in the U.S. but you can start by collecting coins from your change. The UK does put out circulating commemoratives. You may want to put a set of dates together of a certain denomination. Coin collecting is really not much different from country to country. You can collect a series by dates or you can put a type set together, one coin of each type made. In London there are a lot of coin dealers, a few are world famous. Just look up coin dealers and hit the shops. If they are friendly and answer your questions then go with them. Unfortunately there are some that won't be bothered with you, for they think you will not spend enough money, to make it worth their time to help you. It is like that here as well as Canada. I know that for a fact. If a dealer helps you and lets you pick his brain so to speak, then he is worth your time and money.

  28. QUESTION:
Why buy gold coins rather than gold jewelry?
Why should I purchase gold coins rather than buy gold jewelry? Is one generally worth more than the other? Is one valued more than the other? List pros and cons please! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      Coins have these major advantages:
Weight and fineness are always a known quantity. That makes coins much easier to buy and sell. Numismatic (collector) value is a bonus.
Gold jewelry is harder to evaluate. In buying gold jewelry, you are paying for workmanship, and you are unlikely to get that back when selling (Cash4gold.com and similar outfits give you nothing for workmanship or precious stones that may be part of the piece).

  29. QUESTION:
How can I buy silver coins or bullion a little at a time?
I would like to buy 1 oz of silver every two weeks when I get paid. Is there a website that would set this up for me and set aside the silver or mail it to me? If I can't find one, does that mean I have to keep going back to coin dealers or flea markets to buy my silver. An ideal situation would be to have automatic payments withdrawn form my bank account or paypal and to have the silver purchased.

    • ANSWER:
Look at bulliondirect.com. I have an account there. Never had a problem with them. You can buy directly from them, and also they have an exchange were you can buy from others through them. You can keep your bullion there (it's in Texas) or have it shipped for you.

However, one advantage of keeping it there is it is liquid because you can sell it on their exchange. They charge about a 1% commission fee for exchange transactions.

  31. QUESTION:
How do you buy gold and / or gold coins?
    Hello,

I am very interested in investing in natural resources, specifically gold. However, I do not know how to go about purchasing gold and / or gold coins. Everything I come across seems like a scam and I can't seem to decipher what is real and what is fraudulent.

Can someone please tell me how I can buy gold coins?

    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
FOR ONE, go to websites that sell gold products Kitco.com
Ampex.com Monex.com etc. You do need a credit card.

make an account ( usually free) and place an order.

physical gold is sold in bars and coins and each product has a certain concentration of gold for instance 1oz or 1 gram ( or more).

Wait of your stuff to arrive.

These days, its much harder to have someone to buy from. All the gold dealers have gone into hiding it seems. Cant blame them.

  32. QUESTION:
what coins should i buy and how can i expand my collection?
i want to buy some coins and expand my collection any ideas on what i should get?
also please look at my other questions

    • ANSWER:
There is a difference between a coin collection and a coin accumulation. A coin collection is something to work on that has a final goal. True that goal may never be reached for one reason or another, the reason is usually money. There is usually one coin in each series that is too rare or expensive to buy. You need to figure out what you want to do and go from there. A Jefferson nickel set 1938-2008 is well within reach if sets are your thing. I like history so try to set up small displays. One on the Civil War is well within reach or World War II or I. A collection of one coin from every country is a challenge and one will never finish it but it is a challenge. U.S. coins from the 1890's and earlier are always a good investment in grades very fine and up. I would never pass up a good buy on say an 1861 quarter in grade fine. You need to see what turns you on in the coin collecting world and go from there.

can you buy coins from the san francisco mint directly?
    Hi There all,

I live in san francisco, and I was wondering If you knew if the public was allowed to purchase minted coins directly from the mint itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I understand they make proof coins, and that's what i'm interested in buying is there any way we can purchase direct with them?

    • ANSWER:
No. San Francisco no longer produces coins for circulation. It produces proof collector coins. It is an older facility, and according to the US Mint website, all of the space it has is needed for machinery and personnel, so it does not have a visitor center. No visitor center, no shop, no direct sales.

Correcting Flower: The S.F. Mint is fully operational. It opened in 1937, replacing the original facility that opened in 1874 and is now closed to visitors since 1993. The old building was sold in 2003 to the city, who is renovating the building to become the Museum of the City of San Francisco. It is scheduled to open as such in 2012.

Edit: You can purchase proof collector coins directly from the US Mint, just not at the facility in S.F. Here's the website:

  44. QUESTION:
Where can i buy wholesale aluminum coins for sewing onto Belly dance costumes?
I'm looking for a site where I can purchase the small metal (usually aluminum) coins to sew onto tribal belly dance costumes. I live in a small town so there is no fashion district or anything like that even close to where I am. But I'm looking to buy thousands at wholesale bulk rates. If you know of anywhere please let me know.

    • ANSWER:
Usually they are sold in packs of 100. However if you buying from a company (not off ebay -although I occasionally have run across large quantities at a good price) then contact them and ask if they are willing to give a bulk discount and how many you would have to order to get that discount. You could also ask them if they would be willing to share their distributors information if they do not offer bulk discounts (however many businesses do not want to share that sort of information since that makes you possible competition with their own product offerings. Here's a couple of sites that sell that type of coin:
      http://www.moondancebellydance.com/coins.htm
      http://www.costlesscostumes.com/COINS.html
      http://www.zarifas.com/100pc_Belly_Dance_Coins
      http://www.thebellydanceshop.com/products.php?id=22
here is another e-bay search using slightly different keywords
      http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=bellydance+coins+-scarf+-hipscarf+-skirt&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=bellydance+coins+-scarf&_osacat=0
      http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=tribal%20coins%20-scarf%20-belt%20-bra&_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A2122&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_pgn=1
sometimes slightly different keywords return different results on ebay

Does anyone know where I can find a good website to buy coins?
I have heard of a few different websites, but wanted to know what you guys and gals thought.

    • ANSWER:
The best place to buy certified coins is ebay...not the buy-it-now auctions (they are almost always priced too high). However, the auctions and the "make an offer" listings offer a great opportunity to get expensive coins for very little money.
