In these gloomy economic times, more folk are looking at gold as a safer asset class than stocks and mutual funds. Investing a portion of a balanced portfolio in silver and gold could act as a hedge against inflation. Precious metals are normally not as susceptible to the same gyrations as the bond and stock markets. Typically, gold is not correlated to the stockmarket or the bondmarket. A portfolio of gold coins might add stability and value to your portfolio.
One of the best ways for small investors to invest in gold is with gold coins. Gold coins are more often than not worth more compared to gold bullion bars. This is {because gold coins are more expensive to make than gold bullion bars. One benefit of gold bullion coins over gold bars is gold coins tend to build more coin collecting value over time. The reason for this is most gold coins are struck with the year on it. The older the gold coin more often than not the more coin collecting value it will build up, if it is maintained in a good condition.
Here's a few of the most trendy gold bullion coins
American Gold Eagles
The American Eagle gold bullion coin was first produced by the United States Mint in 1986 being authorized by 1985's Gold Bullion Coin Act. They are guaranteed by the United States government to contain the stated amount of gold in troy ounces. Legally the gold in these coins must come from sources in the U.S. It is backed by the U.S. Mint, and authorized by Congress for content and weight. It is available in 1/10 troy ounce, quarter troy ounce, 1/2 troy ounce and 1 troy ounce denominations.
The reverse side features a female eagle and chicks in a nest, and above them the male holding an olive branch. The other design features Lady Liberty bearing a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, and in the left background, the Capitol building.
The United States Mint also mints a proof version for numismatists. Most American Eagle gold bullion coins are manufactured at the West Point Mint in New York state and bear a W mark under the date of issue. As with all other gold coin, their actual market prices varies from day to day based on the latest spot price of gold.
Buy Krugerrands
The Krugerrand was the world's first gold bullion coin, being minted in 1967. The gold South African Krugerrand was named after the last president of the old South African Republic, Paul Kruger. The gold South African Krugerrand coin was also the first gold coin that contains precisely one ounce (33.93 grams) of 22 carat gold. South African Krugerrand coins don't have any monetary value on them. Krugerrand prices are based upon the current value of one troy ounceof gold.
The Krugerrand's name from a combination of the last President of the old South African republic, Paul Kruger's surname, and the Rand, which is South Africa's currency. The obverse of the Krugerrand has a portrait of Kruger. The other side has a springbok, a kind of gazelle. Springboks are South Africa's national animal.
Buy Gold Maple Leaf
Canada's Gold Maple Leaf coin was first minted in 1979 by the R.C.M. (Royal Canadian Mint). It is one of the purest gold bullion coins in the world, with a gold content of 24k, Some singular releases contain gold mined entirely in Canada with virtually no base metals at all. From 1988 on, Maple Leaf coins have also been created in .9995 fine platinum, and .9999 fine silver. In 2005 a .9995 fine palladium Maple Leaf 1 troy ounce coin was introduced.
It is available in one twentieth troy ounce, a tenth troy oz, a quarter troy ounce, a half ounce, and 1 troy ounce denominations. It is guaranteed by the R.C.M. to contain the stated amount (in troy ounces) of 99.999% pure 24k gold. The coins have legal tender status in Canada, with face values of C, C, C, C and C. These are much lower than their market value, and are symbolic. All denominations are the same in design, except for the markings on the obverse and reverse sides that specify the weight and face value of the coin.
The R.C.M. manufactured a Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin with a face value of C,000,000 on 3 May 2007. At the time the actual gold content was worth over million. It weighs 100 kilograms, is 50 cm in diameter, 3 cm thick, with a purity of 99.999%|With a purity of .99999. it is 3 cm thick, 50 cm in diameter}. It was a promotional showpiece to advertise the R.C.M.'s new line of .99999 pure 1 troy oz gold Maple Leaf bullion coins.
Buy Australian Gold Nugget
Sometimes nicknamed Gold Kangaroos, the Australian Gold Nugget is a gold coin minted by the Perth Mint. These coins have been manufactured in a variety of denominations of 24 carat gold. They are legal tender in Australia and are among a a small number of legal tender gold coins to alter their design each year, along with Chinese Gold Pandas. This, and their limited yearly production may help to inflate their numismatic value with the passage of time.
The Gold Nugget was introduced in 1986 by the Western Australian government owned corporation, the Gold Corpration. From 1986 to 1989, the reverse of these gold coins pictured a number of Australian gold nuggets. With the 1989 proof edition, the design was altered to show kangaroos, the globally recognized national animal of Australia.
In 1991, 2 ounce, 10 ounce, and 1 kilo sizes were introduced. They were introduced with the intention of keeping premiums low using economies of scale, and are among the biggest gold bullion coins ever minted. The face values on these large coins were lowered to keep them proportionate to the 1 troy ounce coin. The reverse of the coins does not alter every 12 months like the lower denominations; the kangaroo design is utilized every year.
Chinese Gold Pandas
The Chinese Gold Panda bullion coin is produced by the official mint of China, and was first manufactured in 1982. It comes in a twentieth of an ounce, 1/10 of a troy ounce, 1/4 of an ounce, 1/2 of an ounce, 1 troy ounce, 5 troy ounce and twelve troy ounce denominations. Panda America is an official distributor in the United States of America, and in China, the official distributor for gold Panda bullion coins is the China Gold Coin Corporation (C.G.C.C.).
The obverse side of the Chinese Gold Panda coin has Chinese letters on top saying Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo (People's Republic of China). Under that is a picture of the Temple of Heaven, and at the bottom, the year of issue. For commemorative releases, the topic will be evident here too. The reverse side features portraits of pandas, which have been altered every year with the exception of 2001 to 2002.
Another advantage to investing in gold bullion coins is its ease to sell. Gold bullion coins are one of the easiest assets to liquidate. The reason why gold bullion coins are easy to sell is gold coins and gold bars usually have a standard weight and purity impressed on it. If an investor is not familiar with a coin, they can tell how much gold and what purity they are buying. Investing in gold bullion coins has its benefits; some of the advantages are difficult to find in other assets. This is what makes gold bullion coins among the best assets available.

QUESTION:
Why can't you just melt gold nuggets to bars and turn a profit?
I see gold nuggets online for around 38 dollars an ounce, or gold dust for less. However gold is basically 1,000 dollars an ounce.
So why not buy the gold as dust or nuggets and melt them into bars. And then sell them for the 1,000 dollars an ounce price? What am I missing here?
-
ANSWER:
First off, you are missing karat purity. while you may be able to buy scrape gold on eBay for "pennies" it is no way bullion. Gold bullion is 24k 999.9 pure. You may notice gold ingots for sale as well in various increments 1g,5g,10g,etc. ever notice how much people are willing to pay for this, on average 5.7399 for 1g, which is just plain absurd. Considering that if you were to purchase that straight up all the way to an ounce you would literally be throwing hundreds of dollars in the garbage. As far as buying gold anything in that small of an increment even owning 10oz is pretty much a waste of money that could be more wisely invested. Most professional investors buy gold to help fight inflation not profit. In order to profit you want to buy trading power of gold not physical bars for storage. if you are considering this go MONEX they will help you decide what is best for you and your money

And when you do buy gold or silver where do you go to sell it .They say if you buy gold bars the goverment can take them from you at the going rate at the time of confication. Is this true. And do you have to pay taxes on gold.-
ANSWER:
You only buy from a reputable dealer. I buy my S African Kruggerands (1 oz gold) & silver bars from a local coin dealer. Buy from someone who is a known: U.S. Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, S African Kruggerands. My silver bars are from Handy & Harmons. They have serial numbers stamped into them.As far as I know, there is no national database of those that own gold. So how is the government going to confiscate these (gold & silver) if they don't know about them??
You want to sell your gold & silver, just go back to the same person/dealer that you bought them from. I suspect you do pay taxes on any profits (of the sale).

QUESTION:
What is wrong with buying gold in different forms?
I'm confused, some say buy coins! Others say buy nuggets that are made by mother nature (no matter how big or small) I'm new at buying gold and trying to be careful. I always seem to get honest answers here. HELP!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance-
ANSWER:
I would avoid flakes and nuggets. There is no guarantee of purity with those. Either branded bars or coins or an ETF is the best way. The ETF is the least expensive way and the easiest to sell also. Coins generally sell for the highest premium but there was a time when South African coins actually sold at a discount. Also I might add that there is a considerable bid/ask spread on physical forms of gold whereas on an ETF only a brokerage commission. GLD is the most popular but I believe IAU is another. One might also consider gold mining shares. These are more leveraged than just plain gold. That means that when the price of gold increases the gold mining company stocks tend to rise much faster and vice versa. There are also index funds of those. GDX is one.

QUESTION:
Metal detector for Gold Nuggets?
I want to buy a Metal detector that will detect Gold Nuggets but i dont want to spend alot of money.
I realize that some detector are designed for gold nuggets but are expensive.
I realize that some detectors are better than others but will all detectors detect Gold nuggets?
What should i look for when buying a Metal Detector?-
ANSWER:
You'll have to spend a certain amount of money. Gold nuggets aren't that common and most aren't that big. You need something sensitive enough to find the small ones. And unless you like digging up pull tabs, you need something to help you discriminate between them and gold or other worthwhile metal. The web site below goes to one of the best metal detector manufacturer in the business as far as I'm concerned. Look over what they have. Read up on how they work and what makes a good one.

QUESTION:
How much is this gold nugget worth?
I just bought an Alaskan gold nugget and it's like .062 ounces. How much is it worth? Even an estimate would be helpful.
I won it in an acution for 8 bucks. The guy has an operation in Alaska so I'm guessing he has tons of nuggets he's dug up.-
ANSWER:
Gold is worth 57.40US per troy ounce. If you measured the weight, they are probably avoirdupois ounces. A troy ounce weighs approximately 31.1 grams, which would make the price of gold about .42US per gram. That would still make your nugget quite a bargain. You are assuming the nugget is pure gold. Gold occurs naturally as alloys with copper, silver, mercury, lead and zinc, among other things. You would have to have it assayed to be sure.

QUESTION:
Can I melt gold flakes/nuggets? then mold them?
I am investing in gold(small quantities) and may acquire a lot of gold "nuggets" or vials of gold "flakes". I believe it maybe bullion gold. or whatever type of gold that is found in california/canadian and alaskan mines. Can I melt them and mold them into one bar? should I just buy bars elsewhere? The reason I ask, is cause I am looking to save some money by buying large quantities of nuggets/flakes from second-hand gold sellers.
Any ideas, thoughts, opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
I AM BUYING NUGGETS. ABOUT 5 GRAMS WORTH. Can I smelt/mold the nuggets together?-
ANSWER:
Take this the right way, but you don't know what you are doing. You would be better buying gold and silver jewelry that no one wants and melting them down. BUT you have to know the difference between gold , gold filled, gold plated. Even if a bracelet for example says 14k gold on the clasp. The clasp could be solid 14 k gold, but the bracelet could be gold flashed or plated. You can smelt gold down if you want, but do you know what the different carrots are of the flakes? Are the flakes real? Fools gold sure looks real, but it isn't gold. Good luck.

QUESTION:
Can you make a profit from buying gold leaf flakes on ebay?
So I am a little confused, I was looking on ebay for gold (looking to buy a little as an investment) and I see that gold leaf flakes sell for very little compared to solid gold nuggets. Now what is confusing me is that even in auctions that state the weight of the gold leaf flakes (lets say it says 1 ounce) the price is amazingly low (less then ). If I were to buy 1 ounce of real gold, that would cost me almost 00. So why are these gold leaf flakes selling for so much less? If you were to melt the 1 ounce of gold leaf flakes down into a solid peace, wouldn't the weight of the gold stay the same? I was thinking of getting an Oxy Acetylene Torch, a sand mold peace, safety goggles and gloves etc and melting it down myself. Any information you guys could give me into this matter would be most appreciated.-
ANSWER:
Read the fine print in most of those advertisements:"These beautiful Gold Leaf Flakes are scrap flakes from a leafing company which blends & cuts different base metal gold leaf scrap into flakes. These beautiful gold leaf flakes are not designed to be melted down. We do not make any claim as to any percentage of actual gold content contained therein."

QUESTION:
Question about melting gold and silver?
I was thinking....
how can i melt my old gold and silver chains down to make nuggets or maybe little bars?
Will they melt with a blowtorch? What would I put them in to melt them. I don't want to have to buy anything. I want to use stuff laying around my garage.-
ANSWER:
You can't safely melt silver or gold without a proper crucible. They are inexpensive ceramic cups used just for that purpose. As long as you heat the crucible with the metal in it. Any other way will cause splatter and is dangerous. Crucibles are available at some craft stores, or where they give lessons for jewelry fabrication or on line. You can use a propane torch to melt either, but once again, by heating the crucible.
If you don't want to do this there are many pawn shops who will swap your scrap for just about anything you want comparable in Price. The karat quality must be at least 10 or higher or they won't mess with it.
Good luck.

QUESTION:
Why is my Gold Nugget Pleco always attaching itself at the top of the tank glass?
I'm worried about my Gold Nugget. When I bought it 3 weeks ago, it used to always be wandering around the drift wood, especially at nights (I assume it was eating the wood). But now it always stays in one spot, at the top of the tank at the water's edge (I am puzzled to why it would choose this location). Everytime I put algae wafers in, it doesn't even bother to come down(even at night), whereas my Royal pleco seems to be eating it. Is something wrong with my Gold Nugget? (Gold Nugget is 3" and Royal is 5")-
ANSWER:
Plecos are territorial fish and you generally should keep them apart once they grow up. Your Royal may be harassing the smaller Gold Nugget.Plecos do pick strange spots to live, though. I think it's just a matter of personal preference. Some plecos love to rest on the tank bottom, some like to hang sideways.
And don't worry--if your Gold Nugget is still alive and not noticeably skinny, then it means it is eating. There are a lot of things that go on in a fish tank when the owner is sleeping--after all, we can't watch our fish 24/7. Put in a bit more, on opposite sides of the tank, so that even if the Royal is eating, the Gold Nugget can eat undisturbed, too.
I hope that helped!

The King Mac
WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE GOLD
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LASTWhat is the most expensive gold in the world?
It’s no secret that gold is just about one of the most expensive metals that you can buy. But the price you pay for that gold will greatly depend on the type of gold that it is. And that might depend on where the gold came from.
The world’s most expensive gold in fact is Scottish gold and not surprisingly, comes from Scotland in the small town of Tyndrum, where the Cononish mine is located. The Cononish mine was approved for mining use in 1996 with the regulations that it could extol 25,000 ounces of the precious gold from the mine per year. However, soon after the approval for use the price of gold – any gold – dropped significantly and so the Cononish mine was not purchased by the Scotgold Company for 10 years. The mine is now fully owned and operational and produces the rarest and most valuable gold in the world!
This Scottish gold is so expensive not only because of its rarity and its bright and pure yellow color. This gold is also so precious because it’s an extremely dangerous and very hard process to sluice through the gold to extract it. This most precious of all the golds costs ,400 per ounce.

QUESTION:
Historians of the Gold Rush. Could this have happened?
Looking to make a screenplay historically plausible. 1870’s, probably California but it doesn’t need to be. Some bad guys are going to rob a stage coach full of gold. Then, they are going launder the gold by buying a worthless mine and pretending to have found the gold there. Here are my questions. In what form was gold likely to have been trafficked? Dust? Ore? Nuggets? Bars?
When and why would gold have been moved via stage coach? Who owns it at that point? Miners? Banks?
Would someone have a need to launder gold? My thinking is if you show up with a whole bunch on nuggets it raises question but if you own a mine and a stamping mill you’re supposed to have all this….Gold dust? Gold bars? You get where I’m going.
Also related question: What type of operational security would those shipping a wagon full of gold have? Who would know about it?
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers all these questions.

You are thinking too much in present day scenarios. In those days laundering was not really necessary, if you showed up somewhere with a bunch of gold, no questions were asked. also a stage coach would not carry too much gold. maybe short of a thousand pounds.Usually gold was shipped by armed personnel, loaded on donkeys, which are easier to lead than a stagecoach, no matter what Hollywood says. You should try looking into Mexican mines at the time. In the 1870's Mexican minted Gold and Silver was the only one accepted worldwide. And Mexican seals were imitated on gold bars from North American mines of the time, which would fetch them a higher price. Robberies happened on the open sea, once the gold was being shipped from America to Europe, for many reasons, but mainly because it was an expensive business, and just pirates could afford such an expensive operation.

QUESTION:
will these fish work together? if so how many and what other fish can i keep with them?
i am about to buy a 55 gal tank and i'm wondering if you can keep a pair of kribensis, a pair of german blue rams, a flame dwarf gourami, some swordtails, and a gold nugget pleco all in this tank. i really want some fish with color. i was planning on using tan sand, with plenty of rocks and some fake plants. any suggestions? thanks in advance.-
ANSWER:
I've got to say this much, that is a nice job at least in color coordination. A 55 gallon footprint should well support the Kribs and Rams, though both are typical substrate dwellers, they are also rather mild in terms of aggression. The swords and Gourami will interact on the same levels of the tank, and I think IF anything at all, the Gourami would probably harass the swords, but again, this is a typical four foot of space, it should suffice unless you have like 25 swordtails.
The Gold Nugget Pleco though, if I am correct will still attain quite a bit of size, but should work out fine in a 55. I do not see the kribs or rams harassing it, but if you are simply looking for a bottom feeder, look into cory cats instead of a pleco. Plecos are not true algae eaters as most hobbyists are sold them as by pet stores. A pleco is an armored catfish and bottom feeder that is usually messy.
All in all, I see no distinct compatibility issues other then maybe the Gourami bugging the swords, but that would be very minor. You could just as well probably add a few mollies or platties as well if you wanted more live bearers.

QUESTION:
What are some cool non-aggressive fish for my 29 gallon freshwater aquarium?
I have a 37 gallon african cichlid tank they are fun and have great personalities and just started a 29 gallon freshwater tank. I am looking to make this tank a non-aggressive tank. The only fish i have in there is my 3 inch black ghost knife who is only staying in their temporarily until i get my my 75 gallon tank from my dad. I'm not really into small fish and big schools...I am thinking maybe more of having like 4-5 medium guys (3-5 inches). I am probably going to buy a gold nugget pleco...was thinking maybe an angelfish or two. Any suggestions?
P.S. I also have a 28inch bubble wall along the back so any fish that enjoy currents is a plus, although if i decided on something else it can be easily removed.-
ANSWER:
Try some large labyrinth fish like pearl gourami, or paradise gourami. Check out some of the hardier killifish.Maybe some platies or large mollies. The list is endless. That bubble maker is great, but for cold river speacies like hillstream loaches or river darters you also need a great twin filter or keep fewer fish. by the way kuhli loaches are my altime favorite, check the clown or horseface loach too.

QUESTION:
what kind of pleco should i buy to live with my betta?
I have a betta fish and its in a small tank but im going to get a bigger tank and i want to buy a pleco to go with it. My favorite kind of pleco is the gold nugget pleco but i don't know if that can live with a betta in a 15 gal. tank because don't they get big? I was thinking the best way to go would be to get a small Pitbull Pleco. What do you think. what kinds of pleco can live happily with a betta in a 15 gal. tank? And if i DO get a Pitbull pleco can i get mroe than once for the tank or should i just stick with one of them?-
ANSWER:
The pitbull pleco would be ideal, and you could easily keep 2 in a 15 gallon tank. At a maximum size of about 2.5", it is the smallest pleco I've come across yet in my research. And it's a great algae eater.
The clown and zebra both reach about 3.5" and you could have 2 of them as well.
Neither the clown or zebra are good algae eaters, and like some live food in their diets, although quite attractive. So it depends on if you're looking for an algae eater, or an ornamental fish.

QUESTION:
Would you rather buy large or small?
So I went to check out this pet store I just heard of. They had some interesting fish. From guppies to a foot long Arowana and some other very large fish. Even a Red tail catfish I don't know who has room for a 4 foot fish this one was almost a foot long. They also had some rams and swardtails stuff like that. They had full grown common plecos one 6 inch Gold nugget pleco. I saw big discus for lots of $$$. They had 3 fish that looked like black piranhas. They were about 10in long mean looking fish.
ANY WAYS... My question is When you buy fish would you rather buy large expensive fish. Or buy the same fish small for less money and watch it grow?
Because At this store the bigger the fish the bigger the price. But these big fish are old.
Personally I can not see spending extra money for the same fish that you can buy small and in a way raise it.
What do you think?
Now I feel bad for these big fish. They are like the old dogs at the pound. Everyone wants a puppy. They really should lower the price on these large older fish.-
ANSWER:
Buy them small and watch them grow large. Of course, before you buy them, you must first be aware of their potential size.Buying small, juvenile/young fishes is better than buying the large, adults. This is because young specimens can easily be trained unlike old ones.
When buying old ones, you need to familiarize yourself with their feeding behavior before you buy them so as to be able to replicate it on you own house.
Young ones, however, can still be trained and be familiarized with your own routine at your own pace.

QUESTION:
Queen Gold Nugget Plecostomus?
I've just bought one of these little beauties, but forgot to note the "L" number! Anyone got any idea what "L" it is?Cheers.
-
ANSWER:
The hardest thing with this species is keeping the weight on, They need bog wood, not Mopani but decent wood, pref from tank already set up, soft water, PH less that 6, KH 0, GH less than 6, use RO water for water changes with 10 percent tap. Feed raw potatoe, cucumber,JMC cat pellets once a week, blood worm and prawn occ too, and don't be surprised if one day your nugget is dead, they rarely live beyond 3 years in captivity, good luck man L18 is the Golden Nugget not Queen but the L numbers for most Rio plecs is BS as there are more than one sub species, its a trade name that sounds cool and they can fleece you out of 40 squids too goodluck man

Thinking about buying one ounce of 24kt gold?
I dont know if you heard but the golden nugget casino has a gold vending machine. I want to buy an ounce of gold but I have no idea how the gold market works. Are all gold bars 24kt? They sell the one ounce bars according to the stock market prices so right now its 30 an ounce. Is that 30 an ounce of 24kt gold? I want to invest into an ounce in case I need to cash it out later down the road, you know like an asset. If I pay 30 today and wanted to sell it tomorrow, how much of a lose will I take. Also, where would be the best place to sell it, cause the pawnshops will take 20-30% of the value for themselves cause I already called. Please help me and give me some advise and knowledge, I appreciate you reading this.-

Has anyone had any real success with a gold nugget pleco? I have researched the net and found 0 articles?
Its easy to find out how to care for one, I consider myself a fairly advanced fishkeeper (25 years plus) I have owned many different species of fish and successfully bred many too. When it comes to the gold nugget pleco I have found nothing but articles where the fish ended up dead very quickly. Recently bought one and it lived approx. 3hours. Has anyone here had any success or heard of success with this fish. Also looking for suggestions for an unusual pleco thats a little more hardy....had a royal pleco in mind.-

QUESTION:
Is this real gold real gold? (pic)?
I just bought 3 ounces of 24k gold in nugget flakes. The price I paid is much less than 3 ounces of normal gold?
Here is the pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/64578048@N02/5881833554/
Do you guys think it is real?-
ANSWER:
It looks like real gold in that it has the right color and luster. However, I am more than a bit suspicious at all of the gold leaf that is laying around the surrounding area. It could be that someone has taken gold leaf (which is real gold) and plastered onto a rock of some sort. You could cut into it with a knife to see if the gold color is more than a surface coating.

QUESTION:
Gold price & quality confused?
I bought a gold coin 1 troy ounce, called Australian nugget from Heng Seng Bank here in Hong Kong. my friend bought a gold 1 troy ounce coin from local jewellery shop "Chow sang sang". we found the price is different HK0. Heng seng bank is cheaper than Chow Sang Sang. both claim 99% pure. any gold buying experience in past or what differences you think about above case please share your views.-
ANSWER:
not the gold.. you are paying for the coin - numismatics is what it's called (like stamp collecting), rarity/demand for the coin, etc.. also the dealer tries to make as much profit as they can (same thing can cost different at different stores).Personally I wouldn't buy gold like this, it's gets alot worse trying to sell it back to them, they will offer you several percent lower than what you bought it for (their 'spread', how they make money). Although some people swear by having the physical metal in their possession (there is some sense in it).
The other alternative is 'paper gold'.. e.g. many banks in Hong Kong have gold accounts, but the risk with that is that if the bank goes bankrupt you lose your 'gold' (you basically have a gold contract with them, they owe you more if gold goes up, you lose money if it goes down, but there may or may not be actual gold behind it); there are gold ETFs too (GLD in the US, i know there is at least one on the HK exchange but I forget it's name - they're like stocks but all they do is hold gold).

QUESTION:
Coin vs gold what`s the better option?
What`s the advantage to buying say a 0 coin over a 0 nugget of gold.I know it depends on the importance of the coin but overall is coin an advantage over gold?-
ANSWER:
It depends on the type of coin you are looking at. You would need to go after a very fine to about uncirculated condition coin that is a key date or has a low mintage. Try to go for a "sleeper" if you can. If you don't know what a sleeper is, they are coins that should be valued at more, but havent' reached the price they should be at. Meaning if a stock was worth 5 dollars and you bought 1 share, and then the stock "wakes up" to its full price it could be worth .
Do not go for good or very good because you won't get a good return on that. Coins can be a very good investment as long as you know what you are doing.
Right now gold is going up because the economy is weakening, but as soon as te economy betters itself, the gold will drop. From what I heard though it is better to invest in silver bullion.

ANSWER:
SOmething is definitely wrong with the numbers you have. Nobody is going to sell gold right now for 33 dollars an oz.Making 'nuggets' is close to fraud, there is a higher value for true nuggets. People pay for them as gold and a bit more for their curiosity value- collector's items. So making nuggets is misleading Refining the gold and pouring it as small bars is better idea.
But people selling flakes of gold at 3 oz per 100 can not be right. Maybe they are selling tailings sands known to have some flakes of gold in them, in which case you will be lucky to separate even 1/100th of an oz.
