Silver Eagle Monster Boxes are a great way to purchase a large quantity of Silver Eagle coins. A monster box contains twenty five plastic coin tubes. Each tube contains twenty American Silver Eagle coins. That means each sealed U.S. Mint box will contain five hundred beautiful, uncirculated American Silver Eagles!
Perhaps you you are hesitant about investing in such a large quantity of American Silver Eagles at one time. Here are what I believe are the two most important reasons for purchasing a Silver Eagle Monster Box:
Cost Savings
When you purchase American Eagle Silver coins, your price is based on the current market spot price. The dealer then adds a premium per silver bullion coin. The main advantage for buying Silver Eagle monster boxes is the cost savings. The greater the quantity of silver bullion coins purchased, the cheaper the price! Plus, most bullion dealers offer free shipping for large orders.
Silver Bullion Shortage
Another valid reason for purchasing Silver Eagle Monster Boxes is the shortage situation in silver bullion. Because of the selloff in the stock market, the financial turmoil in the credit markets and increase in bank failures, investors are turning to hard assets for protection and diversification. Unprecedented demand for silver bullion because of extreme investor demand has forced the the U.S. Mint to stop production of the 2008 edition of the Silver Eagle.
The U.S. Mint has rationed American Silver Eagles since early spring and is supplying the silver bullion coins to dealers on an allocation basis only.
Most dealers are shipping American Silver Eagle orders as they receive them from the U.S. Mint. In many cases, orders are experiencing significant delays and wait times of up to several months! Investors wishing to invest in Silver Eagles should purchase as many coins as they can afford now. There is a real risk that anyone wishing to purchase these silver bullion coins in the future will have to pay a huge premium to do so.
I would strongly urge anyone interested in investing in Silver Eagle Monster Boxes to strongly consider purchasing them now, while they are still available.
Here is the current supply status on Silver Eagles at the various mints and larger dealers:
Silvertowne is no longer accepting any new silver bullion orders.
NorthWest Territorial Mint will not be accepting any new walk-in orders until the online orders are caught up.
Perth Mint are not accepting any new orders.
The U.S. Mint is no longer selling American Silver Eagles.
The Sunshine Mint has a backlog of orders for five months. They are a supplier of blanks to the U.S. Mint, btw.
The American Silver Eagle coin is the most popular silver bullion coin. The Silver Eagle is not only beautiful but its silver content is guaranteed by the U.S. government. Each beautiful silver eagle coin contains 1 troy ounce of silver and is 99.9% pure. The American Silver Eagle is considered legal tender and can be converted to cash at any given time.

QUESTION:
Is Tulving a reputable company to buy American Silver Eagles from? I don't want to buy 00 worth of lead!?
APMEX sounds like a pretty good deal too (1721.95 for 100 oz) and haven't seen anything on eBay that can beat it yet. Or if you have any other info, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!-
ANSWER:
About the only thing I can say about Tulving is that they have been around for a long time (at least since 1992). I've never done business with them, so I can't say how good they are.
Kitco has silver Maple Leafs but not Eagles. Maples are at .24 each.

QUESTION:
What is the best way to buy silver coins, particularly silver eagles? The mark-up at coin stores is huge.?-
ANSWER:
You need to use a price comparison site, like http://coininferno.com for example. Go there and scroll down to Silver Eagle, click on it, and it'll list current prices from several dealers. For Silver Eagles right now, you'll probably spend as much as 10-20% premium over spot. The good news is that when you go to sell them, you'll probably sell at 5-10% over spot too, so it's not all bad.
If you don't want to pay as much premium, try buying generic silver rounds or 10 oz bars instead.

good place to buy silver maple leaf coins or American silver eagles coins.?
Need a good website or place in Maryland that I can buy these coins. Probably am going to buy a 1 or 2 a month. Also are there any other cool silver coins I should be looking to buy.-

You can try local coin dealers. They would most likely have what you want and maybe even some different designs on silver rounds and ingots. You can find a local dealer at the ANA website (money.org).

QUESTION:
IS IT SMARTER TO BUY SILVER BARS OR SILVER AMERICAN EAGLES?
I've heard arguments for both sides...but now I want to hear what you guys think?-
ANSWER:
Both move pretty much in line with the price of silver. The American Eagles don't have a whole lot of collectible value other than the price of the silver. Your best bet is to purchase whatever you are getting the closest to silver strike price on.

QUESTION:
Where is the best place to buy a silver eagle 1oz coin? And which one is the best investment?
I don't really understand all the grades, symbols, basically everything except for the 1 oz of silver. I get that, but still not sure which is the best to own for the money or the best place to buy from.-
ANSWER:
The cheapest place to buy American Silver Eagles is Monex. They have the best prices but there is a catch....you have to meet the minimum investment amount. The last time I refereed someone to Monex the investment minimum was 00 for the first silver order and each order after that was 100 ounces for each trade. Its been about a year since Ive used Monex. The smaller amounts of silver you buy the larger the premium is. Silver eagles are costing about .00 each at the least. You have to keep in mind there is the physical price for silver and gold and the paper price. Unless you are buying 1000 ounce contracts you cant get silver for the paper price. Gas works the same way. Gas in the paper market trades for less then .00 a gallon but you won't find a retail station to sell it to you for the paper price. Silver and gold work the exact same way. Therefore you have to shop around.
When buying silver eagles you should not be buying anything for collector value. Grades, symbols, ETC are not important. Do not buy anything in a sealed plastic case. I you cant hold the metal in your hand then don't buy it. And don't worry about numismatic value. Its not worth the extra money spent unless you know that sector of the metals market. The numismatic market is a market in and of itself.
I personally buy Silver Maple Leafs because the premiums are less then the eagles and have a higher face value as well as a lower spread when selling back to market. But I do own Silver Eagles too.
As to where else to buy Silver Eagles and Silver Maple Leafs, I personally use EBAY. I look at the Monex price and when I see an EBAY item for the Monex price or about .50 over the Monex price with free shipping and PayPal availability I buy off EBAY. Other then that you can go to Kitco, American gold Exchange or APMEX. Just keep in mind you have to add in shipping and insurance costs when dealing with the dealers. Monex charges a 1.75% commission to their sales price and then you have the .00 shipping fee too. So add those costs to the Monex Price to compare when you shop around.

QUESTION:
looking to buy 2010 proof silver and gold eagles and gold buffalos....?
coin collecting noob here...apologies ahead of time for the lengthy question....im planning on buying one each 2010 proof silver eagles, gold eagles, and gold buffalos. (yes, 2010, not 2011). mostly to commemorate something very important. and im planning on having them for 5...10...20 years or more. who knows. not doing it for an investment per-se...but if down the line i do decide to sell them, i wouldnt mind getting some extra cash for them.
now i dont know if i should buy the coins that were issued straight from the mint (in the fancy velvet boxes) or should i be looking for MS70 graded coins?
ive read opinions that modern day proof and bullion coins that are rated (ie; slabbed) by the rating companies are a scam because...
a.) theres so many of them that are being produced which doestn make them scarce at all
b.) a modern day coin proof/bullion is never circulated anyway, so of course theyre all going to be rated 70 (or 69 at worse).so if should i be shopping for proof coins, or MS 70 graded coins?
also, if slabbed coins are better, which of the grading companies are better...ngc, pcgs...etc. i know that 'first strike' is the most desirable of these 'graded' coins. i also know that the gold buffalo 'black diamond' that is sold by apmex is a complete and utter scam.
thanks very much for any info.
-
ANSWER:
The coins you are looking for are only available through licensed dealers. For a list of PCGS dealers, go to the American Numismatic Association web site. (coins.org). The difference between proof 69 and proof 70 coins are tiny defects in the edge and are not visible in slabs. It is your own preference weather you buy proof or uncirculated coins. Proofs are better looking but MS69/70 are scarcer.

QUESTION:
How can I buy silver investment coins below spot price?
Is there a legitimate way to purchase silver investment coins like American Silver Eagles cheaper than the spot price?Thank you!
-
ANSWER:
Dealers in my area are paying one dollar above spot for American Silver Eagles. On eBay, they sell for one to several dollars above spot. They sell at a premium. You will not find them below spot unless you stumble upon a seller who doesn't know the current value - who doesn't know what they have. You may be able to get 90%, 40% or 35% (war nickels) silver coins on eBay for right around spot, plus whatever the shipping costs. At most estate auctions I've been to, people go crazy-nuts and pay too much. I buy the 'sleepers', the things most folks know little or nothing about. Not knowing what they have in front of them, they shy away from it. For example, I recently picked up a lot of mixed world coins that had a '60s Canada silver dollar (what they were all bidding on), but it also had an 1895 Mexico 8 reales that several people were positive was fake because of the dark patina (it's genuine) and a 1.25 ounce .999 silver commemorative that everyone thought was pewter because of the antique finish (that does look like pewter). That one piece alone was worth more than what I paid for the lot. I took home over 0 worth of silver for , and the other foreign coins were a bonus.
So that's what I recommend. Be an informed bidder at the estate auctions and you'll get some bargains.

QUESTION:
What is the best US silver coin to buy?
Silver is silver but I imagine it could be hard to unload in the future if it has a picture of Chuck E Cheese on it. Not to mention that someone could tamper more easily with silver rounds than coins distributed by the government (honest as they are). QUESTION:
This Silver American Eagles are around to buy right now and the price of an ounce of silver is around ?
How much can you expect to sell them for at a coin dealer?-
ANSWER:
A dealer may very well give you more than the spot price for silver eagles because they normally trade above the spot price. A lot depends on the particular dealer and the quantity you wish to sell. Quantities of 20+ will normally bring a better price than quantities of 1 to 19. 100+ will probably bring the best price.

QUESTION:
should i buy silver bars or eagle coins if i want to invest in silver?
for one unit which is a 100 ounces of silver i am paying 3407$ is this a good investment? will the prices drop? im planning on buying it this Monday please help me out. the bar dosent have a brand name or a company name is purely 0.9999 silver please let me know your taughts thanks. if you think i should invest in coins rather let me know also-
ANSWER:
Stay away from bars that don't have trusted names such as Engelhard or Johnson Matthey, and even with those you need to be careful as there are fakes. That's why you need to buy from a trusted source like Apmex or others with a long history of doing business. Apmex is selling 100 oz bars for 75-95. 07 is just too good to be true.Buying coins or even 10 oz bars allows you more flexibility when selling. You can sell only as much of your holdings as you want as opposed at having to sell the whole 100 ounces. The premium per unit is higher, though.
In the last few days - I've been answering these questions for over a year - I've seen several people talking about Coininferno. It is an amateur's webpage giving current market 'melt' values. Coininferno doesn't sell silver and cannot say what dealer's are charging. In my opinion, it's useless. If you want accurate melt, use coinflation.com. If you want to track the market price, try kitco.com. Kitco is also a dealer in silver. Apmex has better deals.
As for whether or not the price of silver will drop. Yes, it will. It will also go up. What you have to decide is what is the long term outlook. If you think silver will continue to rise in the long term due to devaluation of the US dollar, or any number of other reasons, the best time to buy is now, and don't worry about any short term drops, because there will always be drops, sometimes by a lot. If you have the extra money, buy more on those drops. If you don't really have an opinion or some understanding of the factors that have caused silver to go up, and are just looking at it because it has gone up, then I think this type of investment may not be for you.

QUESTION:
Should I dump my 401k with company match and take a loan for silver eagles?
With the market manipulation going on I feel like its only a matter of time before the whole thing crashes. I have 401k at work, where they match 100% of my money up to the first 5% of my salary. I am thinking maybe I should sell off some of 401k so I can take a loan out, and then buy silver eagles so I have them in hand. I lost about 3-4% the other day--May 6th when it dropped 1000 points. I'm only talking about something around ,000 here--or is there a better way to protect my money. I just reached 60 yrs old. Thanks for your comments in advance.-
ANSWER:
Silver Eagles - coins?
Do you know that coins are easy to buy, but very hard to sell.
You are not paying for the weight of the silver - you are paying mostly for the design.
My dad bought many for years, and 10 years later tried to sell them.
No one wanted to give them nearly what he paid for them. How about investing in your 401K more carefully.
I am sure they offer a stable value bond fund of some sort - most plans do.
Plus, companies don't let you take money out unless you can prove hardship such as high medical bills or high debt.
Just take a look at your plan, and find a safe investment.

QUESTION:
i just bought 2009 silver eagles for 37$ a piece need help?
i just purchased a 100 ounces of silver eagle coins for 37$ per for 3700$ will i make money on this investment? i will be keeping these for a while and silver has been going up ever since 2005. will it suddenly decline or did i make the right choice on purchasing these coins tnx.-
ANSWER:
Why did you buy silver? That is the first question you need to ask. Do you understand silver? My guess based upon what you have asked here and stated is that you do not understand silver. You made the right decision to buy silver. Now that you have done so you need to learn the fundamentals of the silver market and why you made the right decision. But first off I will tell you that silver is a very tiny market and as a result silver can have huge price swings. But price swings either to the upside or downside is NO reason to buy silver.
Silver and Gold is money and a store of value. It is the "Currency of last resort" as Greenspan has stated many times through the years. Silver and Gold doesn't pay interest, dividends, doesn't restate earnings, has no lawyers, accountants, CEOs or CFOs lying to you on television. Silver and Gold doesn't ask for bailouts, doesn't go Bankrupt and cannot cook its books. Gold cant be debased or printed at the will of a company or government and holds its purchasing power.
Silver and Gold sits there as a store of value, is labor intensive, and a one ounce coin will not split into a bunch of half ounce coins at the direction of the "Pin Striped Bandits" on Wall Street. Also Silver and Gold is the ONLY asset class in the last ten years to increase in value and retain every dollar of its purchasing power.
Can silver and gold go down? Yes. However that would mean that all essential goods and services must fall as well. Silver and Gold is and acts more like an insurance policy. You are insuring that something in your portfolio can never go to [FAQ-ANSWER].00. All paper assets have the ability to go to [FAQ-ANSWER].00. This is what you are insuring against.
As Alan Greenspan former Chairman of the Federal Reserve said ....
"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold (from 1933 to 1975). If everyone decided, for example, to convert all his bank deposits to silver or copper or any other good, and thereafter declined to accept checks as payment for goods, bank deposits would lose their purchasing power and government-created bank credit would be worthless as a claim on goods. The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves.
This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard." Allen Greenspan 1966

QUESTION:
which silver coin is better to buy - an American Eagle or Buffalo Round?
I have the option to buy either 20 2010 American Eagle .999 silver coins for 6 or 20 .999 silver Buffalo Rounds for 8. Which is the better investment? Both are made out of the same amount of silver, but the American Eagle has a date and other stuff on it that the Buffalo Round doesn't. Does that make it worth more?
-
ANSWER:
The American silver eagle is a coin, the buffalo round is not. The Buffalo round is considered just that a silver round and actually falls into the medal class, it is not legal tender, nor is it backed by a government. Its value is the silver only. The American silver eagle on the other hand is a coin and also has a collector value added to its silver value. That is why it is more money. So the silver eagle would be the better choice. So now you know the facts it is up to you.

QUESTION:
Should I buy U.S. Mint's Silver Eagles or Privately-minted Silver Eagles?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?-
ANSWER:
only the US government produces the official "Silver Eagles", that are 1-ounce silver coins with an official face value of US. similarly, Canada produces a silver 1-ounce "Maple Leaf" coin, with an official face value of 5 Canadian Dollars.private producers may produce 1-ounce (or more) silver coins with eagles or other designs on them, but they are usually known as silver "rounds", as opposed to "bars".
in addition to a dealer's commission, you will pay a - premium per ounce for the government issue, while the private rounds will cost only around 50 cents/ounce extra. however, you will get back most of the premium when you sell them back to a dealer, and, in case the economy ever comes to depend on silver and gold, no one then will question your US Silver Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs, while your private issue will likely have to be assayed, at your cost, to prove that it is what it says it is.
i myself have gold Krugerrands (which are instantly recognizable), ASE's, CML's, as well as a few private issues, which i'm already planning to trade back to the dealer and pay the extra premium for the government issues.

Is it a good time to buy Silver American Eagle coins? ?
If Yes, what is a good price over the spot price?-
ANSWER:
It's a "better" time than it was the past year.Yes, you WILL pay a lot above spot price. (up to 50%)
But in total, it's still a lot less than it was last year until summer. (-20)
Today, if you can get silver eagles for under .00, that's pretty good.
http://eBay.com

QUESTION:
cheapest way to but silver eagle coins?
ok i like collecting coin and got in to silver eagles. i buy one here and there on ebay and paying way to much for them i have read website that say the should sell for 3 or 4 dollar above silver.. where online or locally would you buy silver eagles at this rate???anyone in the columbus ohio area know a place locally that sells them
-
ANSWER:
Going through Coin World and Numismatic News, weekly coin magazines the big dealers are selling the 2008 silver eagle for .70 plus shipping and that amount depends on the dealer. There is always a notation that prices are not fixed but depend on the price of silver. Now that works with the new one but the older ones have a fixed mintage for they are not made anymore. A 1996 uncirculated silver eagle sells for .50. You may find a local coin delaer may do better than ebay and you get to pick the one you want. 2008 eagles are on the scarce side only because there was more of a demand than they thought but the mint will catch up. With the mint now selling their so called satin finish American Eagles there are now 3 types per year. The normal bullion uncirculated eagle, the satin uncirculated and the proofs. good luck on your quest.

QUESTION:
Who is a reputable company to purchase silver eagles from?
Is Monex.com legit? So many companies online to buy from. Is there a way to know who is fraud?
-
ANSWER:
The best, safest way to purchase coins: go to the bank you have your mortgage, loans, accounts with: make an appointment with you branch manager or asst. mngr. mr.
Specifically ask him or her with whom the bank secures their funds with. Believe it or not, banks have their own portfolios; many of these portfolios contain currency (including precious metal currency. Do not purchase online. Accountability is the key here. You want a name, a face, a paper trail. When a corporation that relies strictly on online or telephone purchase goes belly up, it is very difficult to have that accountability. In spite of what you have heard, you local bank has a myriad of local (and that's the operational word) resources.

I have been coin collecting for the past few months and the silver coins really stand out to me. So much that I want to invest in bullion or ingots. I bought a few Silver Eagles and small gram bars on ebay. Thats becomes expensive quick with shipping and mark up, silver would have to double to make it worth while. I was wondering if there was a place to buy 1 ounce bars from a shop or from mints without paying double the value.-
ANSWER:
Hi,
I would keep it simple & purchase silver because of its content & not commemorative specialties. While you may see a higher return with silver eagles the downside is if silver drops you will loose a larger % on those. Regular silver coins from 1964 & earlier will retain a better value in the content of silver even if it goes down.
Silver was at .49 per ounce today, the calcuator below is a great tool.

QUESTION:
Where can I buy an official blue satin lined presentation case for an American Eagle silver dollar?
I bought the coin off ebay but it did not come with a presentation case, and the mint doesn't seem to offer those for sale separately. If I can't get an official case, what are my alternatives? This is for my second son, and I'd really like them both to have the same type of case.-
ANSWER:
You could do a search for numismatic supplies. One site that has a lot of supplies is Amos Advantage. Maybe you could buy two boxes from the same source that way they would both be the same.Happy hunting

QUESTION:
What company has the cheapest prices to buy physical American silver eagle coins.?
Ok about a year and a half ago I purchased 5 grand worth of silver coins but sure enough I needed a new car so I had to sell them barley breaking even. Of course now they would be worth 10 grand. I used Monex last time and they delivered. Are there any other companies that can beat Monex's prices that you have personally delt with and recommend because I think I will buy a little bit just to have as an investment thanks in advance.-
ANSWER:
You might want to check out a comparison site like http://coininferno.com Just click on the coin you want and they'll list current prices from several different dealers.Personally, I'm gotten my best deals from the Nucleo Exchange. It's kind of like eBay, in that it's a market place with buyers and sellers, but Bullion Direct acts as a middle man. So the sellers always ship to Bullion Direct, and then they ship the bullion back out to the buyer. That way anything you buy is guaranteed legitimate.
I've also dealt with APMEX many, many times. Their prices are fair, but they're not always the lowest.
You can also get pretty good deals on eBay, but you'll need to use rebates. If you're not setup with rebates yet, e-mail and I'll help you out. If you do go the eBay route, just be careful and lookout for fraud. Never buy any bullion from china. If you do buy something fake, you can always get your money back from PayPal, but it's a hassle and takes time.

QUESTION:
How can I keep track of the current value of Gold/Silver American Eagles?
Most web sites that track American Eagle prices give the selling price. To keep track of my investment I need to know the buying price. The price I could get if the coins were sold. Is there a site that gives updated daily prices for both buy and sell?
I will probably just stay with the bid/ask price of gold and silver and not worry about the coin premium.-
ANSWER:
its hard to say. since there are so few gold coins actually circulating it is hard to put a price tag on them because you could get some VERY different prices depending on who buys. If you sell to a pawn shop or some site like cash4gold.com you are going to get pennies on the dollar in terms of worth but if you sell to someone who doesn't really understand what he's buying you could get spot price or higher for them. So its impossible to get a perfect fair value.its been a while since I have dealt with these, the following assumes that they are one ounce coins and sell new for aprox over spot.
that said a reasonable estimate might be to take the current gold spot price which you can find at http://kitco.com/market/ subtract 2.5% (if you are optimistic) 5% if you are pessimistic and multiply by the number of coins you have.

QUESTION:
Is it better to purchase silver "rounds", or should I purchase actual silver minted coins?
I'm 25 years old...I've decided to start buying and collecting silver as an investment...I don't have tons of money to invest from the start...My objective, is to purchase roughly to 0 a month of silver. As an investment...Would I be better off buying silver "rounds", or Should I buy Silver Eagles from the U.S. Mint??...
To me, it seems that I would be better off buying the silver rounds. I can get them for a little over the price of silver, compared to the Silver Eagle.
The Silver Eagles are a beautiful piece of art though! But it concerns me to be paying such a high price for only 1 oz of silver. Or do you think I would be better buying Silver Bars?
Can Somebody please give me some advice...as I said this is all somewhat new to me...any good advice will be much appreciated!
Thank You
Rob-
ANSWER:
For sure silver eagle are way over priced for what you actually get. They are very marketable though. You might have an easier time reselling them than silver rounds. My personal preference is silver collectible coins myself. You really can not seem to go wrong buying a 16 d dime and the value per coin is much greater so they do not take up so much room either. There is one drawback to such a strategy. You have to be able to negotiate and also be able to grade the coins in order to make it a profitable endeavor.

QUESTION:
Why is my Silver Eagle Coin turning pink?
I recently bought a 1996 silver eagle, and it is a light rosy pink color. I was wondering why it was like this and if the unusual color affects the value. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Silver is a very reactive metal, and will tone in the presence of different chemicals. I don't know what chemical specifically causes silver to turn pink, but I used to own an 1882 silver dollar that was the same color.Assuming your silver eagle is the uncirculated version, and not the proof (easy to spot the proof because it has "mirror-like" fields) the toning shouldn't hurt the price. Uncirculated silver eagles are basically "bullion" items--by far, the majority of it's value is in it's silver. If the coin tones a really attractive color, it may even bring a small premium. Some collectors pay more for attractively toned coins.

QUESTION:
Where can I buy silver online?
I am looking to get physical Peace dollars, Morgan Dollars, American eagles, and Mexican Libertads.-
ANSWER:
You need to find a coin dealer. US Banks do not sell Peace Dollars, Morgan Dollars, etc.Look for a dealer who advertises both buy and sell prices, with a reasonable spread.
Watch out for shipping charges as you are buying something that weighs a fair amount. You might want to see if you can buy locally.
The larger the quantity you buy, the better the deal. Small quantities mean bigger markup.
One dealer that advertised regularly in leading coin publications is Apmex. I have not done business with them personally.

QUESTION:
Silver for a beginner?
Hi, I am a someone who is interested in buying silver. I have a few questions and if they could be answered or directed to a website that would be great. If i am looking to only buy about 0 worth of silver should I buy bullion bars or something like Silver Eagles? Can I buy these online and what are some trusted sites, or should I find a store in my area and what are some trusted chains? Any help or suggestions would be great.-
ANSWER:
Its really your choice as to what to buy. If I were you I would buy the Canadian Silver Maple Leafs. The reason I like them are many. I like the fact they are 99.99% silver as most other silver is 99.90%. I like the fact they have a Canadian face value, the American Silver Eagles are only US face. If silver by some strange reason fell back to an ounce the face value would still be Canadian. Canadian Silver Maple Leafs sell for a lower price then American Silver Eagles and trade back to market for almost the same price.Bars are ok but the problem with bars and rounds are they are not recognized by the average person. Government issued coins on the other hand are easy to ID and reserch for average people.
You can buy the coins in coin shops, pawn shops and online. EBay can be a good source too but they tend to be overpriced unless there is a major runup in prices. Ebay sellers seem to take awhile to adjust to market pricing so there can be a lag effect on Ebay.
Sites to buy from in amounts to are talking about are....
https://online.kitco.com/bullion/completelist.html
http://www.apmex.com/Category/503/Silver.aspx
There are other sites as well but most require you to buy at least 25 coins. Some like Monex require a 00 min to start. I usually deal with Monex and Ebay.
