  7. QUESTION:
I was a victim of serious international crime. Where can I go in Indiana for legal and financial assistance?
This is complicated. I was held captive by criminal terrorists while I was in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The hotel and a world bank was complicit in the plot. My travelers' checks were physically wrestled from me (00.00. I was taken to a bank and was forced to sign the checks. My cash, watch, cameras, a recorder. were stolen. I was poisoned. I was kept to a hotel room for 6 days. They wished for me to turn over my passport, and sign some strange documents. I refused, even after they threatened to lock me in a wooden box. The American Embassy rescued me and assisted me in many ways.

Before leaving the US, I went to my cell phone company. I was given assurance my cell phone would operate in Burkina Faso. As soon as I arrived in France I noticed I had "no network." Due to the fact I had no means to communicate with the outside world, I became a victim. The hotel had disconnected my telephone, refused to call the police, or allow me to contact the Embassy. There is much more!

    • ANSWER:
The American Embassy would still be your best contact, especially because they were aware of the problem when they rescued you. They have already assisted you, and likely will know what steps you need to take now.

I am not certain that you would need to go the the Burkina Faso Embassy in America first -- I think it would be best for you to go there with a government representative to help you press for reparation.

  8. QUESTION:
    Is Cash Cab getting Old?
I've been watching Cash Cab (on the Discovery Channel) for a while now. It seems very repetitive. It's like people get in the cab, Ben acts weird for a sec, then surprises them, then they laugh, play the game, and eventually leave.

What would you do to spice up the show? Offer more money for correct questions? Maybe move the cash cab around the country to other cities? New and interesting challenges aside from the red light?

    • ANSWER:
wow thats wierd i was just watching it and thinking the same thing i have to admit my favorite part of the show is getting to be when ben pretends to be an old scottish guy or something when they first get in
but ya i think they should go around the US to like chicago, LA, phoenix, etc. and they should spice up the red light challenge

Can I take a Child Care Deduction if I paid my mother cash for watching my son in her home?
My mother has been watching my son in her home for the last 2 years. I give her cash when I can as payment, nothing terribly consistent. Can I claim the cash I gave her for child care and take the Child Care tax deduction? If so, what do I need to prove this? I don't have receipts from her, but I do have ATM withdrawl slips. I am using Turbo Tax, if that helps.

Also, I would imagine that, if I am able to take the Child Care Deduction, my mother would need to report the income. Is this earned income? How does she go about this? Again, she is using Turbo Tax.

    • ANSWER:
If your mother watches your child in her home, she has self-employment income and reports it on a schedule C-EZ. If she made more than 0, she also owes SE tax.

This is true whether or not you claim the expenses on your tax return.

  16. QUESTION:
Why do so many boxing fans believe the hype and trash talk?
It makes me crazy to be grouped in with the many boxing fans who believe the hype and all the trash-talk is real. I'm just astounded at how many folks believe Floyd Mayweather when he runs his mouth, then plop down a handful of cash to watch him beat your favorite fighter.

As much as we may belittle "wrasslin" fans as dumb inbreds, at least they understand that "the hype" is all for show and enjoy it for what it is. What does that say about boxing fans that don't understand "the hype" for what it is?
**Yo Tay, when you speak of stupidity, does that also include the inability to read, comprehend, then answer a question? I asked "Why do people believe the hype?" when I should have asked "why do knuckleheads like yourself find it impossible to focus for the 15 seconds needed to answer a simple and straight forward question?" You don't understand that "the drama" you mention, is as real as "the drama" in wrasslin'. Oh well.

    • ANSWER:
You are right. People are stupid. Not me though. I am sticking to my guns and will never pay to see Mayweather fight. I'll catch it the next week on HBO.

  17. QUESTION:

gsp gets criticized for not finishing fights while he totally dominates his opponents.

but silva's gonna make dana run head first into a wall lol

im just glad i didnt fork over the cash to watch this garbage.
@mooman--the fight's already over. that's why i posted this question. out of frustration of wanting to see a good fight!!

    • ANSWER:
I think they need to pressure silva into vacating his title and fight at 205 & Heavyweight to finish out his UFC contract. He doesn't even have to try at 185. Plus the UFC would make more money off his name if he did these super fight instead of another tittle defense against another Middleweight who's obviously no threat to him.

  28. QUESTION:
I'm trying to find a ligitimate way to make a living from home?
Everybody want's you to send them your money then they in turn will tell you their "secret" to success. I don't expect to just work an hour in front of the computer a day and "watch the cash flow into my lap" I would invest if thats what it take's for a ligit buisness, better yet I would love to just find a company whom outsources their work.

    • ANSWER:
The best way to make a living from home is to have a home based business. They aren't free to start though. Most home based businesses cost under 0. If your looking for something to do at home for free, then your looking into wanting to get a home job with a w2 and which they don't pay very well. Most are only minimum wage job earnings. Really consider your options and figure out which type of working from home would be best. A job or a business.
If your spouse has to work out side of the home, then pretty much your whole pay check will be put right into his gas tank. The average person spends now days a lttle more then 0 a month on gas. On a low income job, this really isn't sufficient. If this is okay with you and you can survive on it, then here's two web sites where you can go and apply for a minimum waged job. I won't say you will get the job, but you can apply.

What I've found IS best is having a home based business.
I don't have much to go on with what your interests are. So I can only try and help you out by refering you over to a few different businesses to take a look at. I'll tell you what my husband and I have had and enjoy doing for over six years now. I can also refer you over to my blog on my 360 yahoo page on "home based businesses" There are over half a dozen different ones to take a look at for more ideas.

We got involved in the Telecommunications industry. We picked this one because the income opportunity is just incredible, as is with most home based businesses. To me it's more practical. We partnered up with a 15 year old world wide company that offers services that people use every day and pay for anyway. They are registered with the BBB. They've also been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 also rated us the 22nd fastest growing company in our first five years. We are world wide with headquarters in in Farmington Hills Michigan, Carolina, Canada, Europe, Australia. So it's a pretty good sized organization to be involved in. We offer services like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, digital, video, VOIP, Satallite TV, and all the major cellular phone providers like Sprint, T-Mobile,Verizon, AT&T, Nextell, Alltel etc. as well.
How many people do you know, or know of around the world that uses one or more of these services? Service that people are not going to give up on because money is tight they're going to pay their utility bills then purchasing the top brand of soap when they can easily run to the dollar store and buy a package of 4 for a dollar instead of a bar for sort of thing. You know what I mean? We save people money on services that they are already using and paying for, and offer them services that they don't have, but would like to. Every single month these people pay these bills that they are going to anyway every month, we make a percentage every month. Same thing with cell phones. You can provide a phone cheaper (say an LG, or Blackberry, Wing etc) and they extend their contract through you, or get on a new contract on any of the major providers, then every month they pay their bill you get a percentage. You get paid every single month for these services over and over again. This is a very profitable business to get involved in. A lot of money involved in this industry, This is all done in your home by telephone or Internet., or both.

  30. QUESTION:
Why cant I stop thinking about this experience that happened to me?
went to the bar saturday night, today is wednesday morning. it was my 2nd time to go since Ive been 21..since 4/17. I don't want to go out to a bar anymore... seems like bad experiences.

me and my pal get out to walk into the bar, when we notice not many people are inside. We decide to turn around and as I get into my car, a man jumps into the back seat. He points his gun into my throat and demands we give him everything, as he calls for his friends to come over... whom were hiding in a car a few slots down.
They run over and throw me down and steal my keys, cash, watch and PSP. 2 guys are watching me, while the guy with the gun walks over to the passenger side and takes my pal's cash and atm card. He pistol whipped him and the gun went off. I heard my friend screaming at the top of his lung.... so I assumed he was shot. With the yelling... it scared these guys... so they ran back to their car and took off!

I cant stop replaying the events in my head. I had a screw driver in my door panel.... I wish I would have grabbed it to insert in one of their throats.

    • ANSWER:
First, I am really sorry to hear about what happened to you and your friend. You never said whether or not your friend was actually shot. I hope he's okay. But this is what you should do:

1.Take some time to get out your feelings about what happened. Talk to a friend, write, whatever.

2.Take some time to find out how this situation can make you a better person. I know it sounds strange, but I believe that even things as bad as this happen for a reason. I can't tell you how this can improve you as a person. You have to decide this for yourself. Bad things happen to everybody and this is the only way you can make a little sense of them. You might even want to take some time off work or school for this.

      3. Last but not least, conquer the situation, don't let it control you. In other words, don't be afraid to go out with your friends now. You can still have fun and hang out. If you don't, then in a way, they (the guys that robbed you have won). But at the same time, be smart, if you know a place is in a bad area, or it doesn't look safe stay away.

      Hope this helps you.

      Peace and Blessings!

P.S. I hope you don't have any regrets. Nothing was your fault. You mentioned that you thought you should have defended yourself, but personally, I think that what you did was smart.

Well lately have been checking dvds out of local libraries instead of renting them.
If I want a new perfume, instead of going to Macy's---just go to the health food store to buy a "natural" scent [like rosewood, ect]
buy more bulk stuff to save cash.
    watch out for coupons.
instead of leaving salsa in the fridge--if it's not going to be eaten fast, just freeze it.
    any other ideas?
or go to Sam's Club to buy meats [a LOT cheaper]

  34. QUESTION:
    Are your dreams still alive?
Many have tried, but most have failed
Cracked and dried up, thrown into jail
Told he was nothing, just to grow up
But he kept on living, wasn’t a bluff
Fighting for things with a new vision
Gonna take his cut, make his incision
Find out his true mission, take the chance
Taking all opportunities, pay in advance
A little money here, an appearance there
Starting from a bar room into a state fair
Hated for the work that he putted into it
LP and albums drop, slowly he gets rich
Dream always live as long as we believe
Its only a matter of heart to finally achieve
Open you eyes and relies all the dreams
It either builds greatly or rips at the seams

Always keep a good tight grip
Never forget or your fingers slip
Build those stairs to the stars
Better before it all falls apart

She was nothing, a girl on the corner
Get in the ride, no one ever warned her
Dressed for success out on the streets
Prayer for a better life when she sleeps
Was abused and raped, called white trash
Mobile home from mobile home, no cash
Watched her mom be beaten half dead
Believed what ever he drunk dad said
But found some hope to push further on
Wouldn’t stop till her soul was all gone
Sold herself for sex, money, blank checks
Never was told how to, only to perplex
Need a little fun, she was you go to girl
Some of that would make any human hurl
Now she with older men, to make success
A dream with potential now into a mess

Always keep a good tight grip
Never forget or your fingers slip
Build those stairs to the stars
Better before it all falls apart

Dreams are our imagination and hope
Only way some of us cope, or go broke
Doing anything to keep dreams alive
While we try, it rots us on the inside
Loose ourselves in the long process
Then there’s no progress, building stress
People try to tear you apart, into shreds
Pop more meds, the blood that you bled
Sweat and tears you put into your work
Keep on pushing no matter how it hurts
Know your dream, something to reach
Never let it get water down or bleached
May your dreams come true and then some
And if its for the worse then you get none
Dreams are a few, so keep yours close
Make it come alive and never let it go

Always keep a good tight grip
Never forget or your fingers slip
Build those stairs to the stars
Better before it all falls apart

    The Midwest Arsonist

    • ANSWER:
I read it first slowly, and tried to follow your nuances. I caught the "style", as it went, half a song, half a movie script, a good one. But it would be one with a sad ending by most directors. I hate that.

I always want the victims to win out in the end, but in life they don't.

The second time I tried to speed read it, to rush through the feelings.

The flow was very good, read aloud. I know it was a rough draft, no need to quibble about a miss-spell, or an extra syllable.

The four lines repeated were like a good chorus of a song, the structure was a movie in two parts, woven together tragically, the last part was the moral, that tried to make sense of it all.

I like the staggered rhyming, the author should take control, and lay his own boundaries.

To me it's a well cut, but unfinished diamond, waiting only for you to put it in the tumbler to be polished.

But I'm just a "hack", Mid, I have no formal training, only my instincts to go by. But my instincts would have told me that 5 ft 7 would love this piece, and I do too.

At auctions, some items are unsold because of low bids but...?
what if they highest bidder wanted to buy the item for more? The bidding starts well under the reserve and sometimes it is not met, but the bidders don't seem to get a chance to increase their bid. Am I missing something?

I haven't been to an auction, just watching Cash in the attic!
I mean if nobody is bidding against them (anymore) then people don't increase their bids, do they! They only keep bidding if there is a bid against them.

    • ANSWER:
If the highest bidder wanted to buy the item he should have bid more until the reserve was met. Failing that you can always talk to the auctioneer afterwards and make an offer to the seller.

    • ANSWER:
Depending on how serious you are about Dj'ing, especially Analog Dj'ing you need a good pair of tables:

You don't have to go for the Technics SL-1200's but you need a good direct drive unit. that is all you need to worry about - making sure they are direct drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Then you practice, practice,practice...

If you are going next generation turntables (MP3-Digitals) then shure the Djm 400 is a good unit - in that case, kee shopping around, unitl you find what you need.

However, I would suggest learning how to mix analog, and then digital - once you have the analog down, digital will be a breeze.

If you are in California I have a good friend who is selling his mixer and table right now!

E-mail me if you want more info...

  43. QUESTION:
I pay cash to my mother in law to watch my kids for day care. Can I still claim this on my taxes?
Every month I pay 5 to my mother in law to watch my 2 kids while I am at work.
She does not own a child care, etc. So how can I claim this money on my taxes? Last year when they were at a child care I was able to use this as a deduction...is it still possible?

    • ANSWER:
You can claim this in the same manner as your would if you were paying a child care business. You would use IRS form 2441 to make this claim. You will need her name, SS# and the address where she cares for the children. You may need to have some sort of proof that you really paid her, such as a signed receipt. She in turn will need to claim the amount paid as income.

Did you watch the John Cash TV show in the 1971?
I missed it since i was overseas for a while. Saw this part today.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu418stMOUc&feature=related

    • ANSWER:
Since I married, we have watched every TV special with not only
Johnny Cash, but every country entertainer that has gone before the
camera to especially entertain a TV audience. Johnny sang soulful
songs in the country vein. Some of his songs made us laugh, and
others made us think about some less unfortunate people. He learned
from his mistakes in life, and he put them down in music and verse.
I loved to hear he and his wife June Carter Cash duet and really enjoy
the harmony that they belted out. Johnny really knew how to entertain
a crowd. I miss their singing and I'm glad for "Utube" and other web
      sites that play his recordings.
