Investments in and trades with Swiss PAMP bars are relatively smooth because of the same reason. Each bar is registered and the owner is given a certificate that guarantees the bar's legitimacy. The Swiss PAMP gold bar comes in exactly one troy ounce.

Credit Suisse gold bars are also 24 karat, 99.99% pure gold. The Credit Suisse Bank of Switzerland, after which the gold bars are named, officially backs each and every ounce of gold released in the Credit Suisse gold bars. Again, these bars are universally recognized and very popular among traders and investors. Credit Suisse bars come by the troy ounce in a bar that is 1.625 inches by .9375 inches. Owners of the gold bar will also receive an Assay Certificate and serial number for the gold bar.

There are other gold bars, but they do not hold the same history and reputation that these two Swiss types of gold bars hold. It's suggested that you stick with the reputable names and not wander into the unfamiliar markets where the origins of the gold bar could be questionable.

When purchasing either of these two gold bars, you must double check for any Assay Certificate and serial number. Only the reputable institutions who have been dealing these bars for quite a long time will issue both of these; it's not suggested to purchase bars from other dealers (even if the prices are lower) because they could easily switch out the real bar with a fake without your knowing of it.

Both the Swiss PAMP gold bullion bar and the Credit Suisse gold bar are safe ways to convert cash to gold. However, this is considered an investment and prices will fluctuate without any given notice. Gold seems to fluctuate like any other commodity when the US stock markets are in flux; you can also track gold prices on the European market, which operates on a completely different track. As always, these gold bars will change in price like gold itself. After all, they are both 99.9% gold.

      Diamonds are hard when it comes to pricing. The value has to do with the color, clarity, cut and carat weight. Unless you are an expert, it would be difficult to determine if one diamond is worth more than another. A one carat diamond could be less valuable than a 1/2 carat diamond of a much higher quality.

      Then there is the price of gold. It has gone up recently so if the gold was purchased a few years ago, the jeweler paid a lot less than current price for it.

      This is really a job for an expert - or a jeweler that you really trust.

      It depends a bit on why you are buying gold coins. Proof coins are more expensive because they are intended as collectibles. The regular "business strike" coins are intended primarily as bullion.
      If you are buying bullion and don't care about the collectible aspect, most coin dealers will sell you Krugerrands, Canadian Maple Leafs, or US Eagles, all of which contain one Troy ounce of gold and sell for slightly more than the gold spot price.

      Depending on where you live it may be illegal to call anything less than 10K "jewelry". It is against the law almost everywhere to misrepresent the purity of a gold object.

      You might look up some jewelry wholesalers. Unfortunately, it is not inexpensive. Spot prices of gold are about /gram, and a gram doesn't weigh very much. 10K and 14K are cheaper than that if spot is /g, than 14 K should go for .58/g and 10K would go for .41/g.

      Unless your RM1 coins are uncirculated, I'm afraid not. I find those coins in bargain bins regularly - enough to put together a complete date and variety set (1989 - 1996).
      I was saving them in hopes of cashing them in if I ever got back to Kuala Lumpur. That is no longer an option - the RM1 coin was demonetized last year and is no longer legal tender.
      It's too bad you don't have any commemorative types - those are all worth several times face value.

    I will be moving to vancouver shortly & intend to indulge in my favourite hobby in a big way.I have seen gold claims for sale offered by companies such as Gpex at very cheap prices.I wonder if there are a lot of hidden costs.

      There are no known placer gold deposits "near" Vancouver, Canada. The nearest would be the Tulameen, Bridge River, and Likely-Horsefly areas. There are some small but rich placer deposits in the Kootenays. Further north in BC, there is gold in the Nations River, Dease Lake and Atlin areas. There are no other significant placer gold deposits in BC.

      It is very difficult to assess the merits of placer gold deposits, your best bet is to review the production records - but these are notoriously inaccurate as the last guy was trying to beat the tax man. You also want to check into water rights and permitting.

      There are legitimate placer gold operations, but there are just as many scams. Caveat emptor!

    Not a seller on amazon....it was from Amazon themselves. It was a download, not a card. You pay the and instead of waiting to get the card in the mail or whatever they just send you the code that you need to put in.
