Turn Your Old Gold Into Cash!

Gold Refinery

To sell gold and other precious metals is much easier than some people anticipate.
Its undisputed value remains at fairly stable and high levels and a number of businesses are specializing in purchasing scrap gold. Mostly, these act only as middle-men and resell to a real precious metal refinery and keep as a profit, what they withheld from you of its actual value. Sell gold to people which offer fair values!

Gold may be hidden in granny's old treasure box, or even in great-granddads desk. Many of today's people do not realize how much gold was used in the past and larger quantities are still waiting to be turned in for cash in private households nationwide. Gold is easily recyclable by means of a refining process and any item made of gold retains its material value, even if the item itself lost its functionality due to breakage or damage. To sell gold doesn't require the item to look nice either. Sell gold directly to a refinery to come out with best yields for your treasures.

In other words, grandma's locket with a broken hinge or granddad's old fountain pen tips, are still worth its full weight related value when you sell gold. Even the old gold coin that some hot shot Wyatt Earp challenger-to-be once used for target practice and sports a big hole since then or the aged wristwatch with a gold casing, whose clockwork broke a century or longer ago, will still generate reasonable amounts of cash.

When you sell gold, the purity of it is an important factor. Some of the highest concentrations of gold are to be found in items that you probably don't really consider valuable, like old dental bridges, gold teeth and service lapel pins or badges. To sell gold, palladium, platin and silver at fair market prices, contact the refinery directly: http://en.dollars4gold.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How to open a pool account in a overseas gold refinery when you live in Africa?
On behalf of a company based in Burkina Faso (West Africa) I am looking for a reliable gold refinery in Europe or USA where the company can open a pool account and send his gold dust lots on a regular basis. Does anyone can help?
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
      Hello,
I can actually help you personally. My company here in the USA has established itself in West Africa, specifically in Mali and Ghana. In Mali we are government bonded and use Peroq Metals as our bonded shipper to ship dust or dore bars to our account at refining Johnson Matthey in the US. Additionally, we have accounts at the PMMC in Ghana, the Bank of Ghana and at the Asap Vasa refinery in Ghana. We can do this several ways depending where you are in West Africa. We can either have you meet our Representative whom is at Peroq Metals in Mali to have the dust or dore shipped to our refining account here in the USA or our meet our Rep in Ghana to sell via the PMMC or Asap Vasa refinery. Do you have your export license from your country to ship out? Please feel free to contact me personally through yahoo answers then i will provide my corporate details and email so we can discuss this further. Look forward to hearing from you.

  2. QUESTION:
Is there a gold refinery that will refine my gold for me?
I do NOT want to sell it to the company that refines my gold, and it needs to be public, not a "business' only" refinery. Idealy, I have ALOT of old gold jewelry, and I would like to have it refined for me, and then keep my gold.

    • ANSWER:
No. All of us wish that we could skip the middle-man and sell our metal for what it is worth. You can't. Removing the alloys is a difficult process and it is expensive to do. They have set up a system where you have to go to a local dealer or bullion buyer.

  3. QUESTION:
I need to know where to find a gold refinery in united states, Texas preferably.... I have some alluvial gold?
i have some alluvial gold and i need them refined and stamped by the refinery. Also if it would be of no trouble, what is the world market price for 1kilo bullion of gold(24K).

    • ANSWER:
You re going to be rich dude.

  4. QUESTION:
why not sell to gold refinery?
If you have some old gold jewelry that you are thinking of selling, who would you check with first to buy it?

    • ANSWER:
I would ask my family if they would like to buy it first. Why let the "gold broker" fleece you?

  5. QUESTION:
What is the price of refinery pure gold per penny weight?
I have a few pennyweight of uncast gold but I don't know what it is worth on today's market.

    • ANSWER:
According to CNNmoney, gold is now 9.60 per troy ounce.

      1 pennyweight = 0.05 troy ounce

So one pennyweight would be .33.

      ($ = USD)

  7. QUESTION:
the refinery told me the gold i brought in is a weird material what could that mean?
I took some of my old gold to a local refinery for some cash, and the check was suppose to come in 2 days ago. so i called them and they told me the material was weird and needed further testing. I tested it my self and I am confident it's authentic 14k gold.

    • ANSWER:
What do you think it means? They're trying to take extra money from you.

  8. QUESTION:
How do I start a refinery to mint gold coins? Are there special licenses other than a business license?
Just want to know. I have an LLC business license and I know I can have a DBA for this business. Just want to know about particular licensing to be able to assay, refine, print and stamp my own coins from gold and silver. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I am not a lawyer, and this answer may be completely incorrect - I am -guessing- that you don't need any special license, as long as you are not melting down stolen gold jewelry or something I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Just a warning, don't design your coins to look too similar to official US coinage, or put the word "dollars" on it. The US government convicted the Liberty Dollar mint guy of "counterfeiting" and "domestic terrorism" for minting gold and silver coins - what a crock of BS.

Good luck, and I hope to buy some of your coins some day. If you want a definitive answer, I suggest speaking with an attorney. Better safe than sorry.

  9. QUESTION:

  10. QUESTION:
Gold refinery in Belgium withthat the manufacturers mark of TG over a braceleted hand encompassed within brack

    • ANSWER:
TG may not be a manufacturers mark. It is typically used as an abbreviation for Teragram (a unit of mass equal to one megatonne).

The other mark you described (a braceleted hand encompassed within brackets) is not one I recognise or have ever seen before.

In the days when Belgium had an empire, there used to be a large gold industry around the Antwerp area. They still sell a lot of gold these days, but manufacturing is on a much smaller scale.

      I don't think you're going to solve this problem on Yahoo Answers. The best suggestion I can make is to check with the European Gold Manufacturers Association (EMAGOLD), who are based in Europe. If you send them an email with as much information as possible they should be able to track down the manufacturer you want. The details are as follows;

  12. QUESTION:
Troy Ounces Conversion Help Gold Refinery Question!!!!?
I am having trouble figuring this out. Lets say I have 3 grams of 14K gold. I know that a troy oz is 31.15g and lets say today's price of Gold is 1500.00 per troy oz. The Refinery only pays 98% of a troy oz. BUT, for 14kt, only 58% is counted. If anyone has experience with Gold Scrap please, you know what I'm talking about and help me figure this out!

    • ANSWER:
Well the reason that only 58% of the weight of 14 karat gold is counted is because it is only 58.33% of actual gold, with the rest being other metals, such as copper or silver. Pure gold is 24 karat. Therefore: 14 divided by 24 = 0.58333 = 58.33%. If the refinery actually pays 98% of the gold spot price that is a super good offer.

  15. QUESTION:
How do gold refineries make money? When they buy our Gold what do they do with it to make a profit?
I need to know how do refineries make their money. When refineries buy people scrap gold and such. They melt it but then what do they do with it. how do they make a profit? Who do they resell to? Who buys from them?

    • ANSWER:
Refineries are quite lucrative businesses. It's all really about services or processes.

When you sell them your scrap gold they assay it, to find out exactly what percentages of what metals you provided them. They may charge you for that "service."
      So there's profit #1.
Then they use acids to dissolve some metals and not others to purify the valuable metals. Suppose you sold them some 14K gold scrap. You actually sold them a metal alloy of 58% gold, 20-25% silver, and 12-7% copper by weight. Proportions vary by different alloys, but the Karat of gold is always a fraction of 24. 24K is 99.9% pure and 12K is 50% pure.
Anyway, they would pay for the gold, at less than 58% what gold traded for on the day they receive your shipment because the gold you sent was scrap, therefore of a lesser value because it needs to be processed (by them) to be of pure value again.
      That's profit #2 and #3.
They pay a devalued rate for scrap, and in case you missed it, both silver and copper have a value, and are traded as commodities, but the refinery probably won't pay you for the other metals in the alloy. Though it may not be as big a number as the gold, they deal in volume and the little numbers add up.

By the very process of removing the impurities they increase the value of the metal, and that is the main way they make their profit. Used metal has less value as pure, unless it has historical or sentimental value.
If a refinery has purified an alloy into it's purest state, the metal is in a more rare state. The laws of supply and demand follow. Since refineries are the main source of pure metal, they stand to make the first, and most, profit from the refining process.

  16. QUESTION:
I have Multiple LBS of Gold & Platinum Concentrate in "black sand" Is there a good refinery I can send it to?
I have been a pro gold and platinum panner and minerologist for 5 years, I have over 10 pounds of black sand gold and platinum ore. The only way to REALLY get it out is to send it to a refinery, does anyone know of any that will accept this type of concentrate and extract the gold and platinum from it?

    • ANSWER:
What a lucky coincidence. Only last week I invented and built a machine for exactly that purpose! I would need to inspect your ore to confirm that it's suitable....but..... I have visitors at the moment. Hmmm...what to do??? Tell you what, meet me in the alley behind the local bar...you know...the one where that motorcycle gang hangs out. It's nice and private there.....don't want anyone to see your stuff and try and mug us, do we?

  21. QUESTION:
I need some help with selling gold to a refinery.?
I had some gold jewelry lying around, don't know where I got it, probably relatives' jewelry, and I was thinking of sending in to cash4gold or something similar. I did some searching, however, and found out that they aren't the best people to whom to sell. I was wondering if someone could recommend some good refineries and tell me how much it will cost? It would be good if they were cheap, but I know that that isn't always the case.

One more question, what are peoples' experiences with Garfield Refining Company and the David H. Fell & Company refiners? Can anyone offer any insight? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Your best bet would be talking to local jewelry makers... they probably have contacts in the refiner industry. Its tough to say though, cause who knows if refiners are listed in the phone book.

Ive had good luck with the online refiners like cash4gold. Get more gold selling info here: http://www.goldintomoney.com

  22. QUESTION:
How can I buy and sell gold?
I have an opportunity to sell gold to a refinery. What is a good way to buy gold in the USA so I could resell it?

    • ANSWER:
Gold bullion is most often used as a hedge as it is the gold itself which retains value thus making gold equity useless in terms of asset protection. You can either buy bullion in the form of marked bars or gold coins. coins are usually easier to move about and liquidate both due to their smaller size as well as the fact that they are clearly marked. For this very reason it is suggested that if you decide to purchase gold bars you should only purchase clearly marked ones because there have been many cases in which the bar was only made up of a gold crust and the rest was a different type of metal with a comparable weight to volume ratio as that of gold.

we live in an imperfect world where scammers try to wring out your last drop of blood you will have to be watchful when determining where to buy gold. Of course, the best places to buy gold are dealers with a stellar status and trademark, who can also be found online. The Internet gives you the benefit of being able to get recommendations from previous clients easily which will help you conclude whether or not the vendor is reliable.

  23. QUESTION:
Looking for Gold Dust serious buyers for our mines in West Africa.?
On behalf of some mines owners in West Africa (Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Mali) I m looking for an established gold refinery in the States, Asia or anywhere else to enter into a monthly contract. If anyone has any kind of information on this I will truly appreciate the help. Please let me know.

    • ANSWER:
I can't comment on refineries in North America but I'm well aware of the Johnson-Matthey gold refinery in Enfield, London & I'm also well aware of the Rand Refinery in Johannesburg (links below).

If you are wanting to sell your gold on international markets, it will be necessary to have your gold refined at an internationally respected refinery (as these two refineries are) with their stamp upon it stating it to be 99.999% pure gold.

  24. QUESTION:
how much gold (grams) do i need to have before i can sell it?
to the refinery that is, not a middleman. can you let me know? what is the acceptable amount before making a trip to the gold refinery

    • ANSWER:
Each refinery will set their own minimums. Put yourself in the place of the refinery owner. Even if the building, equipment and the utilities are all paid for, it takes an investment in chemicals and energy costs to fire up a melt. If they have to check the purity of your sample, the assay may involve the melting of several samples. They will probably charge you assay fees. The spot price of gold is well known, you can check it here:

      http://www.kitco.com

You cannot expect the refinery to pay more than spot price, adjusted for the purity of your gold.

  26. QUESTION:
Can you burn a rock and have gold as the result in any way or form? If so How?
i know someone that burns rocks and is totally convinced that he has tested positive for 24karat and 14 karat gold. and i have to know if he is. we tell him to take it to a jeweler or a scrap yard or refinery and he wont. so this tells me that it isnt. but i need to know.

    • ANSWER:
hmm, i do not know of any rock that can be burnt to produce gold. melted and separated maybe, but not just burnt.

why does he burn rocks anyways? nothing better to do?

gold is a single element, so burning a rock won't produce gold, unless the gold was already in the rock, and the burning got rid of the other elements, or melted the gold out.

the "gold" he produced is it soft? if you hit it with a hammer would it squish? or shatter? if it shatters it isn't gold.

it is more likely that he has fool's gold. which is iron pyrhite. or maybe even something completely different, in a chemistry class we made copper pennies look golden with some kind of a solution.

i share your doubts that it is actual gold.

  27. QUESTION:
Do gold bullion bars have to stay in there package to keep there value?
Now days almost all the 24k gold bullion bars you find for sale come in a package, like a card they are sealed into from the refinery, I am speaking of smaller bars from 1 gram to like 1 ounce bars some others too. I am curious, if I bought 50 gold bullion 1 gram pieces would they lose value if I took them out of there package or be harder to resale in the future or prove there purity?

    • ANSWER:
The only value of a gold or silver bar is its meltdown value. It doesn't matter whether it's dirty or dented or scratched, meltdown value is the same.

I can manufacture any package you want to "prove" the purity. The dealer doesn't care about the package.

  28. QUESTION:
can I sell gold bars I made from scrap jewelry?
If I refined gold jewelry what would be the process of selling the bars. I am obviously not a mint or refinery so how would I stamp the gold? Does it need to be stamped? Is there any legal ramification for doing this?

    • ANSWER:
No, the bars does not need to be stamped. The next step that you should take would be to sell the bars to a precious metals refinery. I work for a refinery called Metallix Direct Gold, and we would love to give you an estimate on your gold bars. Our website has a gold calculator that will give you an estimate on how much you will receive. We offer free FedEx shipping with 00 of insurance and no lot fees. If you have a minute, you could check out our free whitepaper on The 7 Steps To Maximize Your Gold.

  29. QUESTION:
How much is 23k gold plating worth per area?
I have 2 gold "Pokemon Special Edition 23 karat Gold-Plated Trading Cards" from a long time ago. I think I bought them at Burger King. I want to sell them to a refinery that melts down precious metals (Garfield Refining) but I want to know if what I'd get out of it is even worth it.

    • ANSWER:
I checked ebay for those cards and they tend to retail anywhere from about 99 cents for one card and or so for the full set. That means that your cards in mint condition to a pokemon collector is probably worth less than . Melted down and destroyed... probably worth 10 cents or so. I would recommend not proceeding further.

Not really. Gold is priced as a worldwide commodity. People everywhere know always what the price of gold is and what direction it is heading. 38. QUESTION:
how much is my 9 carat gold necklace worth?
    Hi

Ive a 459 gram 9 carat gold necklace which im wanting to sell, ive had a value of £3400 for scrap value though it is definitely not scrap..Could anyone give me UK contact details of any refineries that they think would offer me at least £10 per gram as i no myself to buy this type of necklace would cost around £8000 of a jewellers.

    • ANSWER:
Ignore the jeweler price. Jeweler's markups are legendary. The scrap dealer is paying for the gold in the necklace, and he is out to make a profit. Let's take a look at that.

you can check spot prices anytime here:

      http://www.kitco.com/market/bp_charts.html

Spot price for 24K is* £22.393 per gram, multiply that by 9/24 because your gold is 9K.

I get £8.39 per gram so your 459 gram necklace has a spot value of approximately £3854*

      * Spot prices change rapidly - check again before you buy or sell.

That scrap value is actually not that bad, you would expect to sell at a discount to spot value.
Certainly nobody is likely to offer you more than the spot value.

You might do better in a private sale if you can find a buyer.

  39. QUESTION:
Where can I sell gemstones and other rare minerals that I personally mined?
I have a huge load of different types of gemstones from garnets to gold and silver to beautiful green crystals and other gem quality stones besides the gold. I posted a question about where I can find a refinery to process the gold ore that I have, but I need to know where I can sell the rough gems that I have, some include rough diamonds.

    • ANSWER:
If you can take pictures of them so it shows what they are then you can sell them easily on eBay in their Rough Gemstone category. They HAVE to be what you say they are though, no exaggerating. That is why you need pictures, so people can see they are _rough_ gemstones.

  41. QUESTION:
HOW DO i REFINE GOLD USING ACID AND/OR MERCURY?
I crushed some rocks that contained gold silver and copper but I cant take it to a refinery because I dont have a mining license. I have had these rocks all my life in my back yard and recently lost my property so didnt really have room where I moved and since gold is worth so much now I thought I would try and turn it into cash, but I cant seem to. I hears that it could be done, but I dont trust anyone to be honest so would like to try doing it myself. Can anyone please tell me how?

    • ANSWER:
The mercury is attracted to the gold chemically. So the idea is to get the "dirt" or crushed rock containing gold in direct contact with the mercury. It takes very little mercury maybe just a couple oz. or less for 100 lbs of dirt. Mix the dirt in a 50gal. drum with water for example. Or what can be mixed good. add the mercury and mix, mix, mix, stir stir, stir. then pour away the dirty water. The mercury, with gold attached will stay on the bottom. Remove, and burn off the mercury (very toxic gas WARNING) and you are left with the gold! You better get exact instructions for your particular case This is just a general idea how it's used. I saw it demonstrated on a documentary about mining in the rain forest. And the medium they were refining seemed to be a fine mud.

EDIT: I just checked out youtube to see if I could find it. No luck but their are quite a few vids on the process. type extracting gold with mercury. Or something like that.

  43. QUESTION:
I have alot of gold bearing sand &black gold bearing sand, where can I send it to Refine it & get my gold out?
I have like 10 pounds now of gold/silver/platinum bearing sand and gold/platinum/silver bearing black sand. I have already had a metalurgist Identify that I do have these metals. Where can I send it to refine it and extract the gold and other metals? Please only serious answers, and YES platinum can be found in nature, people have argue with me that it cant be found in nature. But if anyone knows of a refinery that accepts ores like this PLEASE let me know! thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Build yourself a sluice. Extract the gold dust yourself.

You could send it to me but I would return less than 10% of anything I might find.

You can bring the raw gold and platinum to your local jeweler.

  44. QUESTION:
I HAVE GOLD ROCKS HOW DO I TURN THEM TO CASH?
I recently lost my property that has been in the family since 1948. My mother and father both were rock collectors. While clearing off the property a friend noticed gold in some of my rocks. I had one assayed and found that that besides gold there was platinum. copper and silver besides gold. So I crushed the rock up and ran a magnet through the crushed rock and I figure what I have left is precious metals. Now my problem is turning it into cash. I live in LasVegas Nevada and as I understand I can not take it to a refinery because I do not have a mining license. Does anyone know what I can do to turn my crushed and magnetized rock into cash?

    • ANSWER:
The pre-crushed rock would have been perhaps very valuable to rock collectors and dealers, I know there are lots in the Las Vegas area.
At this point your best best is to take the remains to a rock dealer and hope that there are some fragments that might still be valuable to a collector.
Once a piece of ore leaves a mining operation, its only place is on a rock collector's shelf.
***IMPORTANT: The rest of their collection may also be of interest to a rock dealer. If there are lots of rocks and some nice looking ones, too, then have a dealer take a look at it***

  45. QUESTION:
Where can I get gold extracted from electronic devices?
I have a few broken cell phones that I would like to extract gold from. I have searched all throughout my town for refineries that can extract the gold for me, but I have had no luck finding any. I would extract the gold myself, but there are too many complications to this, including the fact that I have no access to any of the chemicals used in the process and cause I have no experience with chemicals and don't wanna put myself or anyone else living with me in danger. Is there any way that I can send the phones to someone who can extract the gold for me? And if I can, can anyone give me that company/persons contact information?
Thanks Lexenstar for the honest answer. If I won't get much for the gold extracted from the phones, is there at least a way I can get rid of the phone circuit boards and get a little something in return?
The phones are nothing but pure circuitry now. Their casing have been removed and all the circuitry is exposed. Forgot to mention that.

where to sell gold bullion / dore from dental scrap gold to?
I've melted lots of dental scrap into an ingot / gold bar and refined it using a home refining system. its 99.98% gold. where can i sell it to? I saw others on Ebay which sold for a lot less than the gold spot price (ie, spot was /gram and other home-made bars were selling for roughly /gram only) The only ones selling for a good price were the stamped ones from Metalor, Suisse, etc. Since I made it myself, what do I do with it? I tried selling some before to refiners I found online like Midwest Refineries and Garfield, but the return was NOT as advertised. They claimed I would get 94%-96% of the value but they really only gave me like 60% - scammers, to say the least. Anyways, does anyone have experience with a reputable gold buyer for non-minted gold bullions? Allso, I have a good amount of palladium which is about half the price of gold - who can buy that at a good price? Thanks
im dealing with about 50 oz. what is the minimum for a known refining company to refine my gold, and do you know what rates they charge?

    • ANSWER:
Many coin dealers will buy bullion. You might also try jewelry stores (real jewelers, not the places in the mall).

  47. QUESTION:
Which Cash For Gold Company is the best? What about CashKit?
I found a unique website called www.cashkit4gold.com where they seem to being paying top dollar for all gold and unwanted jewelry. I know Gold futures rose Wednesday for the first time in 3 days.

It seems like it's a smart time to sell and cash in. Only being the second day in April, Gold is now at 5.80 an ounce. Is now the time to sell? The website cashkit4gold.com states “CashKit4Gold.com will buy all unwanted gold jewelry. Since we only buy scrap gold over the internet, our overhead is very low compared to refineries. Use the CashKit to turn your gold into cash.”

    • ANSWER:
You are better off finding a gold refiner in your area, thereby eliminating the middleman.
