     Other gold processors. Those shops pay you about 10 to 20 cents on the dollar for your gold. Don't do it.

     they really mark up the prices there
     because they expect people to haggle with them
     you have to see your budget
     if a guy tells you something is for 0 - you tell him you will pay 0 or 0 max
     and walk out
     95% of the time the attendant will stop you while you are at the door to tell you that he agrees with your price

   I am not asking what the price of gold is, but rather what is the markup on bullion at a pawn shop?

   If the spot is 00 per oz, what is a fair price for me to pay per oz? I am looking to buy around 8 ounces if that makes a difference.

   • ANSWER:
     It depends on the exact product you are buying. Each type of product has its own premium. Those premiums range from a 2% premium to a 30% premium. I cant answer the question without knowing exactly what you are wanting to buy. Bars are different then bullion coins. Numismatics are different then bars. Fractional bars and bullion coins are different then 1 ounce products.

     Before you buy anything I strongly suggest you learn about the gold market. I cant go into everything here except I will say avoid Foreign Gold. There are exceptions to this if you are buying fractional material. You also want to avoid bars as well. These suggestions are based on my long experience in this market. Some may advise differently but I personally only buy what I know is easy to recognize in the general market and what is exempt at this time from 1099 reporting requirements. Of course the laws can change but that is where the easy to recognize element must come into play for me to buy anything.

     Go anytime around 6.30-8 am. That is when they arrive and would be the least crowded when they would be there. I think Chumlee works graveyard sometimes...       It is relatively safe to buy gold in Thailand, provided you buy it from a well established gold shop, and it is generally better than 95% pure gold. Fancy necklaces and bracelets with lots of small pieces are best avoided as they will contain far more lead and other impurities, and they are more difficult to test for purity outside of Thailand. So buy it in big chunks.

      Gold in Thailand is sold at a little over the currently quoted price on the world gold markets and unless the gold price increases it won't be worth any more in the USA than it is in Thailand, unless there is taxation somewhere down the line in which case you could be in trouble with your inland revenue people.

    How much can i expect at a pawn shop for my solitaire, gold, diamond ring?
    I have a 14 karat gold diamond ring. The diamond is real, i've had i checked, but the ring is meaningless to me. I could really use the cash. Does anyone have anny idea how much i could get for it in a pawn shop? The diamond is 1 karat, maybe a little more.

      The value of the diamond will depend on the quality of it. If you have a certificate then it will state the color, clarity, polish, cut, etc. If you don't have a certificate you can always ask the jeweler where you bought it from. If you can't then you can take it to a jeweler and ask them to appraise for you. Some jewelers may charge for this service so you should ask first. Once you know the quality then you can get an idea on the retail value of it.

      Pawn shops known to offer one tenth of the actual value so be careful before you go there. Sometimes the best way to cash your jewelry is to sell it to your friends or co-workers or even on eBay.

      Gold value will depend on the weight per gram or pennyweight. Usually a 14K ring will worth about to a gram at a pawn shop.

      Pawn shop is your worst option. They want to make money, re-selling your item, therefore have to buy it at the lowest possible price (15-25% of what you paid). Ebay would be better as you sell to the 'end person'. You will still only get about 40% of what you paid.

      2 grams of 18k gold is worth about US melt value as of today's prices. You would probably get around at a pawn shop.

      They sell scrap gold to refiners and to large wholesalers.

      The best day is Monday thru Friday. The times around 10am to 5pm; It does not require for you to pay anything or buy tickets but the lines do get long sometimes.

      The pawn shop will give you a price for what they will pay you for it. Often, they will give you a little more for it if you say you want a loan on it and they think you'll be returning to buy it back. Have you checked into any scrap gold dealers or though about craigslist or ebay? It is possible to have the ring altered for another person(new stone, high school and such).

      That is a difficult question to answer. If you took the coin to be appraised by three different companies you will probably get three different answers and you would take the offer that was the highest. Reason......They all want the coin but for the lowest amount so when they put it up for sale they can get the most return for their investment.

      In my experience they only like to deal with gold jewelry or items that are entirely gold. If the plate were entirely gold, I'd say you'd probably be able to do this. However, since only part of the plate is gold, and since the extraction would be somewhat difficult, I don't think they would want to.

      The best thing to do would be to call your nearest cash for gold place and ask them.

      Goldfish have an average lifespan of about 15 years. An goldfish that has truly died of old age should be at least 10 years old and would be pretty large, maybe larger than your open hand. These "old" fish would be pretty valuable and I doubt you would want to give them away. You should probably consider selling it. Older, larger fish are worth a LOT of money

      Anyways, stores like PetCo and PetSmart would take those fish if they were relatively small, like the above answerer said, since larger fish are difficult to sell.

      No. Never buy jewelry from a pawn shop because you can never be sure of the quality. Buy from a good reputed store. Try online shops as they offer jewelries at a lower rate. Check different sites.

      you can sell to a refiner but would have to have at least X amount to make it worth your while, because they pay you better percentage in bulk at 800 gold if your selling yor scrap to pawn shop bargain to get 12$ per gm on 14k at least.

      A gold neckless or bracelet is a tough item. I manage a pawn shop. About half the necklesses / bracelets that come through my pawn shop that say they are 10k actually are not gold. Either the the person bought a fake, or got ripped off. Sometimes jewelry stores even sell necklesses that aren't really gold without knowing it. So, a pawn shop is leary of bracelets. Some pawnshops won't even take them. At my pawnshop, we focus on a lot of jewelry, so we have a few different tests to see if someting is really gold. Sometimes we have to do a "destructive test" which means it would leave a brown stain on the item. (It can be polished out most of the time). The second problem is that pawnshops have a very hard time selling large gold chains. As I said before, since a lot of fake chains are around, people would like to buy from a reputable buyer. And a pawnshop is not considered reputable compared to a jewelry store. Ask yourself if you went looking to buy your bracelet from a pawn shop or from a jewelry store? So, if the pawnshop can confirm it is gold, there's a very large chance they would be srapping it instead of selling it. (Scrapping means melting it down for gold value) Lets say it weighs 31.1 grams, or 1 troy ounce. Gold is around 0 an ounce. 10K means 10/24 or 41.6% gold. So the bracelet would be worth 5 in gold value. It depends how confident the pawnbroker is in that your chain is really gold. At my pawnshop, if the chain passed all the tests, we would give 40% of 5, or 0. It seems with jewlery, a lot of the time a pawn shop gives 8-10% of what it was purchased for.

      Kinda stinks when you get loot that great in value.

      The only thing you can possibly do to get MORE than 1200 is level your mercantile. Eventually when your an expert you can permanetly increase the barterers gold by 500 bye investing once. Then at Master ALL merchants have another 500 gold. And if you invested with one shop the 2 500's will stack. And at 100 you dont need to haggle. You atomatically get the 100/100 sale ratio.

      If your into the thieves guild use Fathis Ules. He has about 1500 gold to barter. Not that much more but better than nothing.

      To level your mercantile skill: You have to sell an item. You get expireince every time you make a succesful trade. Sell thing one at a time. Youll get 5 times more expirience by selling 5 onions one by one compared to the whole stack. Go the feed bag or a cheap store like that and buy all the food then sell it back or to another person. And training makes a such a difference. I recommned training in mercantilsm whenever you have the chance to. Magarte in Leyawiin is Journeyman.

    this is based on my question about my rock. and "ELTON J" i googled gold and mica and my crystal looks nothing like it. i am going to take it in tommorow anyways. so yeah.
    well i took a needle to it, and part of it broke off? i found it up by a mine. so im pretty sure it is gold? or at least not pyrte or mica.

      If this is based on your other question then you likely do not have gold and certainly not gold in crystal form. Google gold and google mica and select images and see if any of those images resemble your specimen.
