Getting cash for gold coins is a simple process. Once you learn about the gold industry, you will see that obtaining cash for gold coins can be a positive experience.
Cash for Gold Coins
Gold coins have been used for centuries as a form of trade and investment. This type of gold item will have a clear stamp of its karat weight displayed on its face. The purest form of gold is 24 karats and brings in the most amount of cash.
You can find out what the current rate for gold is at various websites. This price fluctuates on a daily basis and provides you with an estimated value for your gold coins. You can also find other pertinent information on the gold industry at these sites.
The Best Place to Sell Gold
Online yellow page directories and major search engines can aid you in locating a gold buyer. You can narrow down your search by visiting blogs, forums and cash for gold review sites to see what other people are saying about a particular company.
There are online gold buyers, pawn shops and jewelry stores that can purchase and pay cash for gold coins. However, the best choice is an online gold buyer because they offer great quotes and a fast turnaround time. They can also provide a free mailing kit for your convenience.
The Worst Place to Sell Gold
Physical stores such as a pawn shop or a jewelry store require a lot of your time and money. You have to drive to each location and waste your car's gas. They also offer less money because of all of their overhead expenses.
You should select a gold buyer that is trustworthy and reliable. A company that has a satisfaction guarantee and a clean record at the Better Business Bureau website is ideal. Many people are selling their unwanted and unused gold and you can join them by getting cash for gold coins.

QUESTION:
Best places to sell gold?
I am interested in selling some gold I have. Could anyone recommend
a reputable site or place to sell. I have seen advertised businesses like cash for gold but would love some advice before I go ahead.-
ANSWER:

QUESTION:
How much money can i actually get when I sell broken gold?
I have lots of unwanted & broken gold. And want to sell some old gold pieces. And I know that the places to sell gold is endless....And, know that gold is trading at an all time high, I think its over 0.00 an ounce. How much can I expect to get from a dealer if I have an ounce of gold? Should I take it to a pawn shop or an independent dealer? OR should I sell them online?? Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Never sell your gold to a pawn shop or jeweler. They are just going to turn around and sell what they bought from you to a precious metals refinery for more money than they paid you. I would recommend sending your gold straight to the source. Many precious metals refineries out there are buying gold directly from the public and paying way more than a pawn shop or jeweler. Shop around for refineries posting their prices for individuals. I would recommend looking at Metallix Direct Gold. The have their prices posted daily and offer free shipping and insurance.

QUESTION:
How much money do you actually get when you sell broken gold?
I want to sell some old gold pieces. The places to sell gold is endless....And, know that gold is trading at an all time high, I think its over 0.00 an ounce. How much can I expect to get from a dealer if I have an ounce of gold? Should I take it to a pawn shop or an independent dealer? Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Well It depends on whom you sell it to. If you sell it to a pawn shop or jewelry store, all they want to do with it is resell it to someone else. So if it is broken or chipped or dirty or messed up in some way then they wont give you as much for it cause there is a smaller chance of someone buying it from them. If it has a lot of gold in it you can sell it to a jewelry maker or a factory that sells gold and they will melt it down and give you money for whatever amount of actual gold is there, cause they can then make whatever they want out of it.

QUESTION:
Where should I sell my gold jewelry?
I hear that the best places to sell gold jewelry are brokerage firms or estate jewelry houses. Where should I sell my gold to get the best price? And what are any tips for negotiating the best price when I am selling? Thanks.-
ANSWER:
It all depends on what you have. If your jewelry is in nice shape and at least 14kt or 18kt gold, many estate jewelry buyers will express interest and pay a bit better. If the jewelry is damaged, or common pieces you still see in chain stores, you might as well sell it for gold weight...and in that case watch the gold markets for a nice gold spike because gold is paid on closing price.
Also, look into some private jewelry stores. Sometimes they do consignment for a percentage and you could maximize your dollar out of that.
Hope that helps...

QUESTION:
Do places that offer to buy gold offer a good deal?
if not where would be the best place to sell gold?-
ANSWER:
Most places do not since they are in the business of making money. You get ripped off especially Cash4Gold. I saw a place while driving say that they buy gold. I called them up before selling my gold coins. They said they will only pay only 92% of spot which is pretty good but I wanted better rates. So I called the coin dealer I had originally purchased them from and they were right on spot and sold it to them a few days later after checking spot prices minutes before heading there. You did not mention what type of gold. You might want to check spot prices before going to a pawn shop, coin dealer, or a gold buyer to see how much the spread is or how close to spot. Use this link:

QUESTION:
Which is the best online site to sell gold?
I have seen a great number of websites offering to buy gold online. Which is a good place for selling gold online?-
ANSWER:
I don’t know what cash4gold will pay. I do know from my past experience, that I sent them a scrap jewelry ring and they paid me .26. I rejected the offer and they returned my ring promptly. I then found another company, http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ that paid me 3 for the same ring!! and they enclosed a track able Fedex pack along with 0 insurance as opposed to some crappy envelope from cash4gold that you cant even track. I really got burned a couple of times using a couple of different cash for gold companies but with http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ I feel I finally found one that I could really trust with my valuables.

QUESTION:
Best place to sell unwanted gold jewelry?
I need to sell a lot of unwanted scrap gold jewelry (earrings, watches and necklaces). What is the safest and highest paying gold refiner?
I'm looking to sell gold in my city if possible.-
ANSWER:
You can not sell your gold directly to a refiner unless you are a jewelry or dealer and have proper licences. I am a refiner who buys from jewelers and dealers as well as the public. I do not pay the public as much as jewelers and dealers for these two reasons.1) When buying from the public the law states that I must hold all items for 15 days before selling/melting them. In those 15 days gold, or silver has the potential to drop ALOT! Additionally, my money gets tied up for 15 days when buying from the public. When I buy gold or silver from dealers or jewelers I can melt it that same day, thus there is no risk of losing profit from gold or silver dropping since it is melted the same day it is bought.
2) Unless you have a large amount of gold or silver it isn't profitable for us to buy from you. We don't mind making .25 cents profit per gram if you have 1,000 grams of gold but it doesn't pay to make 25 cents profit per gram if you are selling 100 grams of gold. That is only profit from laying out 00. There are expenses and lots of them, most people don't realize it's a business and we need to make money too.
On the other hand there are plenty of places ripping people off. With gold at 3 per ounce you should take no less than a gram for 10k, a gram for 14k and a gram for 18k.
I buy from people all over America. I can buy it from you if you know the exact weight of your gold and silver. I can pay you via paypal even before you ship it out.
DO NOT USE CASH4GOLD.COM, GOLDKIT.COM, GOLDPAQ.COM OR ANY OF THOSE COMMERCIAL TYPE SITES!!!!!!! THEY ARE A HUGGGGE SCAM!!!!
Call me if you want to sell your items to my company. The number is 877-487-1386.

QUESTION:
what the best place to sell gold to?
im looking to sell my gold and i don't know who to sell it to. what is the place that will pay out the highest?-
ANSWER:
Without any doubt, the Silver and Gold Exchange is your best bet and here's why: 1) They pay more than anyone else I have seen. 2) They have a live price chart on their website ( http://SilverAndGoldExchange.com ) that shows exactly what they are paying in grams. 3)They provide free Priority Mail shipping (not a "gold pack") and pay for up to 00 insurance (not 0 like the others). 4) They use a third party testing center to ensure fair results. 5)They contact you BEFORE sending a check, not the game of mailing out a check and starting a timer for when you have to return it or lose your items forever. 6) They are Better Business Bureau accredited with zero complaints. The reason I am recommending them is because I did business with them twice now and they did some things they certainly didn't need to in order to help my situation. I wont go into detail, but lets just say they are real humans with hearts and not some greedy corporation.

QUESTION:
Where's the best place to sell gold items?
Gold's about to go up in prices again. But pawn shops hardly make it worth your while. Anyone out there have any tips for venues that buy gold items at reasonable prices? I prefer traditional brick & mortar stores rather than online. Online or mail-in companies require you to have faith that if you mail them your items, you'll get compensation.
-I'm referring to jewelry items.
-I reside in New York City.
P.S. You can google them and find websites, but I'm hoping to find a REPUTABLE company. Thanks...-

Jewelry stores would be your best bet.I googled "selling gold jewelry nyc" (without the quotes). The list of ads down the right side had a few NYC jewelers who buy gold items.

QUESTION:
Where is the best place to sell broken gold jewelry?
I have a broken gold necklace and want to sell it. However, I have seen in many news stories that those gold buyers in the mall, and on TV, are scammers and only give you a fraction of the gold's actual worth. Who should I look to sell to? Jewelry store?-
ANSWER:
Yes, do not go to one of the places that pay you a portion of what ever gold is selling for via the stock market. The "Cash for Gold" places will scam you for as little as 30% of what the true price of gold is that day.Every city has one place in town that pays what ever the stock market (or very very close to what the stock market is that day) is at that day. So if you have an ounce of gold, and gold is at 1,100, they will give you 1,100. They then sell sell it to a guy who melts it down and makes it into rings, and triples the price and resales it at places like Kay Jewelers (huge scam btw).
So what you need to do is call around to each place in town that buys gold and ask them how much they pay. Usually the best one is just called "Gold and Silver" and is not a pawn shop. A pawn shop will give you about 40-60% on gold. Make some calls. And do not look on Craigslist for a private buyer, they pay about 80% of the true price--all they do is run to the gold shop and make 20% off what you just sold.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION:
Best Place to Sell Gold Online?
My girlfriend has a bunch of old jewelry laying around that she wants to cash in "to one of those gold sites" as she says. My concern is that I hear that some of these cash for gold places are actually scams and try to rip people off.Do any of you have experience with any sites in particular that we might try out? We are in California but want to ship to the place where we will get the highest dollar value for our materials which is why local pawn shops are out of the question.
After we get some guidance we will send in our materials and let you all know how it goes. Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Forget it. You will lose big. Take it to three or more jewelry stores, or shops that advertise 'we buy gold and silver'. They need to make money and will pay less than 'spot market' price, but most of them are pretty fair with you. These online places are a joke.

If it's worth a good chunk of change, you might take it to Bonham & Butterfield's. They do auctions about four times a year.Get it appraised somewhere, but tell them it's not for insurance purposes (which is always a good deal higher) so you can get a better idea of its worth.
I don't know of stores that buy outright, but be aware that they would not give you retail price.

QUESTION:
how much could i sell this small gold charm for?
I have a very small gold charm of the eiffel tower. I want to bring it to a place that sells gold and silver. How much will I get for it>-
ANSWER:
Nobody here can tell you how much you will get. What we can tell you is how it works. It will be tested for the purity of the gold, then weighed to find out how much gold there is. The weight of the piece is multiplied by the purity to get the actual gold weight (AGW), which is the weight of pure gold in the piece. That number is then multiplied by the spot market price of gold. That result would be the 100% value of the gold, which you will not receive.
If the charm is 24K gold, you may be offered 95% of the value because it will be easy to turn into something else to sell for a nice premium above market value. It's pure gold and needs no refining. A 10K or 14K charm might be discounted 25% or more.
Just yesterday, I decided to unload a 14K gold chain I had found while cleaning out a house. Full market value of the gold at yesterday's price was 5 and the best deal I could get was 7. I took it, because it was found money and the chain wasn't doing anything for me sitting in a drawer.
You need to go to more than one place. At least three, to be safe. There are places that will cheat you. I saved an elderly woman a lot of money yesterday. I took my chain to the place that usually pays the most, got my price of 7, then took it to a large retail jeweler that offered less. Then I went to the mall, though I was pretty sure the Zales and Kays don't buy jewelry, they only sell it. I was right. But, just outside the Kay store, there was a small kiosk that offered to buy gold and silver as well sell it. This woman was there with a bag of silver US quarters and a few from Canada. The guy was looking them over for mint marks and counting them. I counted, too, and wanted to see just how low-ball the guy was going to be. I got a bad vibe off of him. He was a young guy and I judged. from him stepping away to make a phone call, that he was checking with the owner about how much to pay. I nudged the woman gently and whispered, 'Don't sell, I'll give you somewhere better.' and we agreed to meet a few stores over. The guy offered her each for the US quarters and nothing for the Canadian. She said that she was just getting an idea, then left, and I had him check my gold chain. The offer was 0.
When my wife and I met up with the woman, I found out that she wanted to sell her coins that day to pay some bills, and she didn't know who to take them to. She probably would have sold them to that guy, and not just those. She had bags of more quarters, plus dimes and half dollars. Well, there was, yesterday (it's higher today), over worth of silver in ONE quarter. She couldn't believe it. I told her she wouldn't get that much, because the dealer needs to make a profit, but that she should be able to get no less than 28 times face value per coin, and possibly more, which is .00 + for each quarter. Much better than , eh?
I sent her to the shop I was going to. My wife went in to sell the chain and right after she came out, the woman came out - my wife hadn't noticed her in there - and walked by the car. She saw us, and she was happy. I asked how many times face value she was paid, I had told her to get that number as well as a total price, so she could compute the number herself. She was paid 30 times face value, which was .00 for each dime, .50 for each quarter, and for each half. She walked away with over ,700 to pay bills with. If she'd sold to the first guy, she'd have gotten about 0.
Long story, but it should teach you to shop around first before you sell.

QUESTION:
Where is the best place to sell gold and silver coins?-
ANSWER:
You could try your local coin shop. Stay away from pawn shops. You need to get a 2007 Red Book so you can have some ideas of the coins values. You could also try to sell a few coins on Ebay to see how it goes. You should really think about why you are trying to sell right now considering the way the market is. If you hold on a little longer, maybe by next summer, your gold and silver will be much more valuable, possibly two or three times more.

There are mail-order companies you can find on the internet. One I can think of is Cash For Gold. (not a recommendation) Do you know what you have in terms of carat and weight (in grams , pennyweight)
Educate yourself a little to insure you're happy with the price offered. As an example: 18K = 75% gold. 14K= 58.33% gold. 10K=41.67%. The San Francisco Mint buys gold. They all charge an assay fee. Prices change daily just like stocks, referred to a s "spot" price. Your price would be calculated by the weight of each karat gold expressed in Dwts (pennyweight) or Grams X spot p rice X .02720 for 14k.
nOW THAT YOU'RE TOTALLY CONFUSED gOOD LUCK!
