     No it's not a good investment! How do you value gold? It doesn't have earnings, a balance sheet, income statement, or cash flows. So how do you value it?

     You are just guessing and although there will be 20 investors here that will disagree with me because they made money, traditionally it is not a good investment.

     Look for a good stock instead. You can make more informed decisions.

     If you are filing a return, then you'd have to declare the sale if the sale price is higher than whatever you paid for them in the first place. The sale would be treated as collectibles gain, so would be taxed at a different rate than other capital gains.

     Uh -huh.

     4 pounds (avoirdupois) would be approximately 48 troy ounces, spot price of 24K gold is currently 3.50 US/ Troy ounce, so if your gold is 18K, for example we get 3.50 * 48 * 18/24 = ,600 at spot.

     I have no expertise in diamonds, you may have to talk to a jeweler.

     There are people on the web who pay cash for scrap gold, but be advised they generally pay well under spot prices.

     What form is the gold in? Coins or bars are much more easily sold than scrap.

     Most jewelry in jewelry stores is marked up about 200%- or more. Therefore, they can take off quite a bit and still make a profit.

     Diamonds are hard when it comes to pricing. The value has to do with the color, clarity, cut and carat weight. Unless you are an expert, it would be difficult to determine if one diamond is worth more than another. A one carat diamond could be less valuable than a 1/2 carat diamond of a much higher quality.

     Then there is the price of gold. It has gone up recently so if the gold was purchased a few years ago, the jeweler paid a lot less than current price for it.

     This is really a job for an expert - or a jeweler that you really trust.

     Ebay is a good place to buy. Just be careful and do not bid too high. Look for 1/10 ounce coins or 1 gr bars. 1gr bars are about each currently. 1/10 coins about 8-3 each.

      Coins are considered collectibles, which have a slightly different tax treatment. You still calculate the gain based on how much you paid, but long-term gains on collectibles are taxed at 28%, not the 15% rate used for stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.

      The "cracking" of Spice gold makes SWIM wonder: what are the legal consequences of having a product, ostensibly sold as legal, that actually has an unlisted, "illegal" ingredient in it?

      After all, there seems to be some presumption that, if one buys a product in a store that pays taxes, complies with zoning, etc, that products contianed within are legal. For example: if Lizard took a particular liking to a bottle of booze he buys at the liquor store, and it turns out the reason he likes it so much is 'cause it's actually a laudnum tincture (lol), it's hard to see lizard as being legally culpable. I can't see this changing if we substitute "legal highs shop" for the liquor store. I can see this changing--a bit--for internet purchases?

      Also, if the DEA continues to argue the "analog" act is based on pharmacological effect, not chemical similarity, I'm not sure how lizard (who's never even seen an illict drug: just ask him if you don't beleive me) is even capable of telling a particular legal high falls askance here or not. Would this be a case of "ignorance being bliss?"

      Ingredients

      Spice was claimed by the manufacturers to contain a mixture of traditionally used medicinal herbs, each of which supposedly produces mild effects with the overall blend resulting in the cannabis-like intoxication produced by the product. Herbs listed on the packaging include Canavalia maritima, Nymphaea caerulea, Scutellaria nana, Pedicularis densiflora, Leonotis leonurus, Zornia latifolia, Nelumbo nucifera and Leonurus sibiricus. However, when the product was analysed by laboratories in Germany and elsewhere, it was found that many of the characteristic "fingerprint" molecules expected to be present from the claimed plant ingredients could not be located. There were also large amounts of synthetic tocopherol present. This suggested that the actual ingredients might not be the same as what was listed on the packet, and a German government risk assessment of the product conducted in November 2008 concluded that it was unclear what the actual plant ingredients were, where the synthetic tocopherol had come from, and whether the subjective cannabis-like effects were actually produced by any of the claimed plant ingredients or instead might possibly be caused by a synthetic cannabinoid drug. Upon further analysis it was reported in a german toxicology report that there were some harmful effects of Spice. Although not containing the same additives, A three gram package of Spice is said to have the same health effects as a pack of cigarettes.

      Keep trying eBay. In the last two weeks, four of them sold. The only one listed now is in an NGC holder at a ridiculous price (supposedly a rare variety, and could be, I don't know the Panda series), but a typical uncirculated example ought to come along in the next week or two. eBay, and collecting in general, requires patience.

      Depending on where you live it may be illegal to call anything less than 10K "jewelry". It is against the law almost everywhere to misrepresent the purity of a gold object.

      You might look up some jewelry wholesalers. Unfortunately, it is not inexpensive. Spot prices of gold are about /gram, and a gram doesn't weigh very much. 10K and 14K are cheaper than that if spot is /g, than 14 K should go for .58/g and 10K would go for .41/g.

      It depends a bit on why you are buying gold coins. Proof coins are more expensive because they are intended as collectibles. The regular "business strike" coins are intended primarily as bullion.
      If you are buying bullion and don't care about the collectible aspect, most coin dealers will sell you Krugerrands, Canadian Maple Leafs, or US Eagles, all of which contain one Troy ounce of gold and sell for slightly more than the gold spot price.

    I received this as a gift its a 14K diamond yellow gold pendant.
    It has 8 diamonds in it. Four of the diamonds weight 0.040ct, the other 4 diamonds weight is 0.020ct. Six of the diamonds sizes is 1.45mm and the other two sizes is 1.4mm. They are all round.
