Turn Your Old Gold Into Cash!

Scrap Gold Buyers

When the need for extra cash comes up and it's needed fast, before looking for outward sources like loans or routes of this nature consider taking that collection of old jewellery and turning it into cash. There are scrap gold buyers to be found online and finding a reputable and fair company should be the main priority. An example of an established and honest group of scrap gold buyers is Money4Gold.co.uk and is the British branch of the public company Money For Gold Holdings, Inc. They are online precious metal & diamond buyers and specialize in buying your old jewellery and pay you for cash for it.

It's very important to be confident in who you are dealing with so check everyone you're considering first. Are they well established? Are they reliable? How quickly do they pay? These are good questions that should be answered and once they are it'll help you decide. When doing the search keep in mind that pawn shops usually don't pay as well as a company such as Money4Gold and other scrap gold buyers.

When deciding what old jewellery to keep and what to sell make sure to think this out thoroughly so you do not regret letting go of a piece that holds more sentimental value than the price you get for it. Depending upon the importance of what the money is needed for anything sentimental should be hung on to until or if you decide differently.

Selling the old jewellery that's been collecting dust or stashed away in a jewellery box and except for rare instances is forgotten about is a much better idea than borrowing from a friend or applying for a loan and getting further into debt. Pawn shops are focused on a large variety of different kinds of merchandise and make their money from the interest paid on pawn tickets and reselling items they've purchased at a huge discount or products ticket holders abandoned.

Scrap gold buyers specialize in the buying of gold in most any form so they can melt it down while removing impurities. They also deal in other metals such as silver, platinum and nickel among others along with buying diamonds. These are all natural metals and gemstones of the planet making them commodities and will always be recycled in one form or another for their many valuable uses.

Gold has many other important uses aside from its obvious part in jewellery making and for its monetary value. It is also used in countless ways each day for many different things no one would even imagine. Let the specialists buy your old jewellery and get the cash you're needing today. There's no interest to pay and nothing for you to pay back.

  5. QUESTION:
where to sell gold bullion / dore from dental scrap gold to?
I've melted lots of dental scrap into an ingot / gold bar and refined it using a home refining system. its 99.98% gold. where can i sell it to? I saw others on Ebay which sold for a lot less than the gold spot price (ie, spot was /gram and other home-made bars were selling for roughly /gram only) The only ones selling for a good price were the stamped ones from Metalor, Suisse, etc. Since I made it myself, what do I do with it? I tried selling some before to refiners I found online like Midwest Refineries and Garfield, but the return was NOT as advertised. They claimed I would get 94%-96% of the value but they really only gave me like 60% - scammers, to say the least. Anyways, does anyone have experience with a reputable gold buyer for non-minted gold bullions? Allso, I have a good amount of palladium which is about half the price of gold - who can buy that at a good price? Thanks
im dealing with about 50 oz. what is the minimum for a known refining company to refine my gold, and do you know what rates they charge?

    • ANSWER:
Many coin dealers will buy bullion. You might also try jewelry stores (real jewelers, not the places in the mall).

  7. QUESTION:
How to sell scrap gold in Highlands Ranch Colorado?
I live in Highlands Ranch Colorado, 20 miles south of Denver and Littleton. I have a few old gold rings and some broken 14kt gold necklaces that I would like to sell. I have tried craig's list but only seem to get weird people calling me from pawn shops that want me to take my gold down to Denver to sell it for half of melt value. I was thinking about sending the scrap gold to that CASH 4 GOLD business that I saw on late night TV but when I read the on line reviews NO one had any thing nice to say about their business. Other refiners seem to have a ounce or two minimum for shipping and still charge 10% and send you a check in about two weeks. There is a Hotel Gold Buyer in town this week end and they have bad on-line review as well. Is there a local jewelry shop that would pay cash on the spot and not charge me 50% commission. What is a fair commission when I sell my gold? Please respond with usual percent of commissions or refining charge. Or if you know of a trusted gold refiner if I have to mail my GOLD, Thanks for your responses.

    • ANSWER:
I have checked into the Cash4Gold and it look like a big scam! The local pawn shop is only a good place to sell your gold if you need cash today and you don't mind getting 50% of value. I have sold a few things on Craig's list but people want you to give way your gold and jewelry because they think you are desperate for cash. found https://sites.google.com/site/goldsilverplatinumcoppermetals/ website looking for some one to by my gold coin because I don't want to pawn it or go to some crap hotel and get offered half of what it is worth. Check out that link and see if that guy is willing to give you a fair deal. Sound like he is Highlands Ranch Colorado just south of Littleton and Centennial I think it is very honest he explains his commission.

  11. QUESTION:
How do i find the carat of a gold coin?
If i mail it to a scrap gold buyer will they do it or can i do at home somehow? The solid Roman coin (not gold coated) came from a lot of grimey coins I bought and i found a gold but it has absolutely no detail and isnt worth anything but scrap.

I ask this in the chem section because i thought i remembered being able to do this by chemistry equation but could be wrong.
despite what you folks may think, its 8 grams of gold, supposing it is the very lowest of quality, say 8ct, its 40 bucks of gold. Just by looking at it its obvious that it is a dark yellow and im guessing closer to 16ct.

    • ANSWER:
Dealers have methods to assay them by weight, density, and chemical tests; whether they'll give you an honest answer is another question entirely.

I have a substantial amount of scrap gold and want to get as close to market value for it as possible. I have decided I want to sell it in an auction setting.

There are many small, and broken scraps in my collection. I split the larger scraps, stamped with the carat, by carat. I plan on selling the gold in large lots, by weight, separated this way.

I am curious if there is anything I can do to instill confidence in bidders that my auction is legitimate. I am also interested in protecting myself from a false claims about the weight, quality or value of the gold after the auction. Is the any outside source or otherwise that I can employ to prove to a buyer that my auction is legitimate?

    • ANSWER:
how sad that your children don't want a reminder of their nan, could you not save them for grandchildren?

I do know that the price of gold is quite good at the moment, so if you go to a decent jewellers who deals with second hand goods (most towns have them) they'll be the best place to go to. Whatever you do, don't send them off to anyone with the promise of a cheque arriving after.

  18. QUESTION:
sold something on ebay buyer driving me mad?
hi i sold some gold on ebay as scrap ,,,i took photos of the weight etc...i sent the gold added a few other bits and pieces that had gold attached to it as freebies when the buyer paid ...ok
then buyer wants a partial refund because he says some of its not gold ie the freebies
i told them they were free and they got the right amount in gold ...
and im not giving a partical refund ...they had said they want partial or they will be sending it all back ...

    what can i do ????

    • ANSWER:
Contact paypal and let them know what is going on. What I would do is have the customer send the gold back and then sell it again, because the price of gold is higher. But only refund the money when they send it back and you receive the product.

  19. QUESTION:
How much would be a good price to haggle?
I noticed a very unusual gold necklace in second hand jewellery store and I'm interested in purchasing it, especially as I know that there's another serious buyer who would like to try and melt it down.
It's a high quality piece of jewellery 18K with a good (world renowned) name attached to it and weighs in at 142 grams (solid gold)

I've checked around and if I was trying to buy something similar to it new from the original retailer it would cost me ,250 - ,500.
I've calculate the scrap value of the necklace to be ,237.

The seller is pushing that it's a "unique" piece and "vintage" therefore worth a lot more; the price set is ,500.

There's no way that I'm paying that much for it, retail prices are inflated anyway but then to inflate it again is beyond wishful thinking. I know that the other buyer will offer a lot less than that and probably less than me as they're only interested in the gold value, not the name.
I'm keen to haggle with this seller but this time I'm not sure what to offer. Typically I offer 50% the asking price and work from there with it usually ending up at 35% the asking price, but I know that jewelry is the special exception to the rule as the Western market always over-inflates it cripplingly.
The seller also seems well versed in trading by weight rather than a set marked price, they've listed the weight per gram on all the items.

What would be a good price to try haggling for?

    • ANSWER:
You usually start by offering 50% asking price and then you get it for only 35%?! Wow, you're much better at bargaining than I am! I guess you mean 35% OFF.

If the other buyer will pay only K for the gold, and you can get a similar item new for K AND you neither appreciate nor acknowledge the suppposed antique value, then i would offer .5K first. Then, he has to decide whether to hold out for the vintage collector.

The relevant points are 50% new value = K. That would be what you would offer a private seller who was offering it second-hand.
