     Perhaps you are right about getting out. But the way to get out is when your investments are up and not when they are down.

     It's too late to get out, when your investments are down that much. You may as well wait it out and benefit from any stock market rally.

     The stock market always goes up eventually. And all you need to do is wait long enough. Even the great stock market crash of 1929 didn't last forever.

     1. you gift it for someone and they pay you mesos for it

5. QUESTION:
   What does it mean to sell my house for cash?
   We need to sell our house quickly due to relocation. I've contacted a couple of those websites that offer to buy your house no matter the condition for cash. My house is in great condition and we know we're going to take a hit financially whether we try to sell it the 'old fashioned' way or otherwise (we've only had it a year and homes don't appreciate well here, even with a good market). Our house has been on the market now for about 2 months with little to no response - Texans and their irrational belief that any house with an upstairs master is not worth their time...

   Thanks to those who have reponded so far. First, yeah I know it won't be a big bag of cash with a dollar on it or anything, haha! Also, it's listed slightly below market value at this time and if we go any lower we will be selling it for less than we bought a year ago. Renting - we've got it listed in a couple of places, no interest in that either right now and it makes me nervous to rent when we'll be out of state.

I know prideful people in TX can be and honestly, I do understand the downstairs master thing, we just prefer to have all beds up and knew it would make for a difficult sell later on. We just didn't count on having to make it sell after just a year. I'm in Houston, by the way.

     When you sell for cash, you're getting money from someone who's not taking a mortgage. It doesn't make any difference, you're still getting money. You're not actually going to get a bag of cash, you'll still get a check. You're just not getting it from a mortgage company.

     So it doesn't make any difference at all. At your closing you'll give the "cash" to your mortgage holder and sign lots and lots of papers. Just as if you got the money from a buyer who was getting a mortgage.

     If you're not getting any interest in your house there's a reason: it's listed too high! Period. People think they can get what they think a house should be worth and are frequently disappointed. If you want to sell it, list it a the fair market value or a little less. If you're not getting any lookers and it's a good house then you're asking too much.

     Your stock should be held in a brokerage account somewhere. You contact that broker and tell them to sell it for you. Now you have cash and tell them to issue you a check. If that is the only stock in the account, you would then close the account.

     Before you sell the stock, however, you might consider that PG&E shares pay dividiends. There are different issues, I found A-I shares, but each one pays currently more than .00 per share per year. Depending on how many shares you have, selling could be sort of like killing the Golden Goose.

      Have you a sample of these "High quality photos". Who says they are 'High Quality'? Most photographers take on commissions for their salary, picture libaries are pocket money.

      Two of the best are iStockphoto and FotoLibra, they pay reasonable rates as they have publishing contacts and your images are sold on a per print run, rights reserved, basis. Never let Copyright Free sites sell your pics as you'll only get loose change.

      In my experience, seller financing is completely rare and usually only occurs on a small second mortgage to close a deal where the borrower can't get a full sales price loan on the subject property. I don't believe a list exists, but suggest you speak to Realtors and mortgage brokers who were involved in these types of deals. Especially those who deal in b and c loans. Too bad I didn't know you in my first couple of years selling, I could have given you 3 referrals (it never happens to me anymore).

    I make crafts and gifts and sell at flea markets, craft shows, etc for straight cash. I am wondering if there is any benefit to registering as a business and getting tax breaks or just sticking to the cash in hand

      Their are several important benefits to creating an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation).

      An LLC would most likely be your best alternative if you decided to go legit. It is perfect for individual owner-operators and does not require the creation of a board of directors as you would if you created the standard incorporation (a business name with 'inc.' on the end of it.)

      An LLC protects your personal assets from any lawsuits to your business. Imagine if a craft item you sold had a small piece that a two-year-old child pulled off and tried to swallow. The child ends up in the hospital with brain damage from a lack of oxygen for too long before help could arrive. The parents hire a lawyer who will try his best to rake you over the coals. Even one lawsuit could completely bankrupt you and leave you homeless.

      However, if you were protected by an LLC, the only assets that could be attached in a lawsuit are those of your business. You could live in a million dollar mansion in Manhattan and no lawyer or judge could touch it. Yes, it would most likely mean you lose your business, but better to lose that than everything else you own as well. It's much easier to start another business.

      If you incorporate under an LLC and also set up a business bank account (it's important that you keep your personal banking separate from your business banking for tax purposes), you would be in position to apply for loans under your business, loans for expansion of your current business or for the creation of a completely new business at a different location. Small businesses cannot thrive without enough cashflow to handle the requirements of the business, employees, advertising, merchandise and materials, lighting, anything to do with your business.

      And I have heard (don't know for sure) that your personal credit does not effect your business credit, which is an even bigger plus.

      But here is advise no financial advisor will give you, since advisors don't make any money if you take money out!!! They do not have your true welfare at heart.

      Yes, the market will go down another 20 to 30% next year. The light at the end of the tunnel will be next november.
      Consider moving your money into safer investments.

      I use Charles Schwab for my retirment savings. They have cd's that you can buy for free - no commission.
      Ladder your cd's. Go for some 10 year and some 5 year. And some 1 year (so you can start investing soon again).
      5 year cd's are paying 5.25% interest.

      Now, keep an eye on CNN and CNBC, this market could turn around any second, but it's unlikely. With Schwab you can be your own investor - give them a call, consider dumping your advisor that only makes money if you keep investing.

      If the market starts moving, just call schwab and sell your cd's, you'll lose about 6 to 9 months interest (based on market price) - not a big deal.

      Yes you can re-sell it! CraigsList & E-Bay are good places to advertise those type of things. You probably won't get what you paid for it back..but something. If you still have all the packagsing you can possible return it to the store you purchased it at. I'm not sure of the policy of where you got it, but its worth a look at.

    It's a nice area. A college town. There are a couple foreclosures in the area and a couple people are selling houses that have a positive cash flow. Something is going on in that city.

      The investor may have other cash needs outside of that piece of real estate. An investment property requires a certain amount of equity and can be hard to refinance. Sometimes, selling it is the only way to get to your equity.

      If you can buy properties with postive cash flow, go for it!

      Well, first of all, honestly, the people wouldn't really give a fashion line to someone who doesn't have a degree in design.
      You would have to contact a fashion executive from somewhere, maybe if you go on the FIT or Parsons website, you could ask around. You could also go to their campus, if you were really serious.
      Once you've contacted someone and asked where to go next, I would take your idea forward. Present to them a neat, and clean presentation of the line and yourself.
      That is my true idea, and I hope that it works out! If it does, tell us the name of the line and I'll look for it at expensive stores..... LOL!

There are lots of places there that will buy gold and you may find somewhere that specialises in coins. If you take them into a 'normal' jewellers they may only offer you the scrap value.

      Remember you don't have to take the first quote you are given, shop around !

      Never accept a personal check or any type of money order. Not many people feel safe carrying that kind of cash with them, even if it's from one bank to another.

      I would not think twice about accepting a bank draft or a wire transfer from a local lender. But I would conduct this transaction at my bank with a loan officer present. Sit down with the buyer and do all the paperwork in your bank.

      Don't sign over any documents until the funds are secured.

      As far as how much to sell the car for and what is a fair asking price, you need to consult the online price guides for an estimate of the vehicles value.

    Stores run out of cards fast and then you have to wait for the next shipment. Nexon would make SO much more money if they sold it online instantly and unlimited (would never run out of stock?). Plus its more convenient for the buyers too instead of running around to all the stores in a 100 km radius lol.

      Here in UK the value of properties is far greater than the outstanding money owed on mortgages. People should realise this and stop worrying. Major mortgage brokers are already talking property prices up here in UK.

      Where I live in London, the economy is separate from the rest of UK and we're just booming. Just don't even think of asking why, who cares, just grab your share while it's going. London since Roman times has always been a law unto itself. Mad and dangerous but wonderful too.

      If it says one dollar on the back, then yes you can cash it in at the bank. They will give you one dollar for it.

      If you want to get what it's worth, at least in silver content, you'll probably want to sell it to a coin dealer. You could also try eBay, many coins get bought and sold there.

      It sounds like you have a Silver Eagle (they have walking liberty on the front, a eagle and shield on the back). They have a face value, but contain 1 troy ounce of silver. A troy ounce of silver is going for about today (it fluctuates often).

      2007 wasn't a rare year or anything. Unless it's a proof or graded, you should probably expect about from a coin dealer, or about on eBay.

      Your best bet is to sell them to students taking the class after you, especially if you throw in old tests or class notes. I used to go to the first session of the class and announce that I'm selling books/notes/tests all for the price of $XX and people would usually rush to me to take it off my hands.

    After hearing about sites like BidOnCash - their legitimacy aside - is it legal in Canada to auction cash "be it legal tender or digital value ie. through PayPal or w/e" especially if it includes selling cash for less than its value?

    If it is legal, does doing so with USD to Americans (or Canadians) change anything if its operated out of Canadian soil?

      It is perfectly legal to auction cash, or to sell it for less than - or more than - face value.

      However, where BidOnCash becomes illegal - under both US and Canadian law - is in the fact that they charge you a bid. You are thus most likely to bid multiple times, at a bid, and get nothing for your money. It is, therefore, gambling.

      I figured I'd do a bit of digging. BidOnCash is owned by Soluan Investments Ltd, which is a shell company whose registered address is a mailbox in Limassol, Cyprus. The physical location of the host server is anonymous behind a screen, and not available without a lot more time and resources than I'm willing to expend.

      Does that sound like a legitimate operation to you?

      To me, gold is a non-productive investment and a poor hedge against inflation, too.

      I do not invest in gold as such ( except for family jewellery).

      You should have sold gold few weeks back when it was on high. If you can afford to wait, please wait till January 2011. May be around that time gold will hit high again.
