You may have gold jewelry, gold coins or simply some gold scrap such as old fillings youve been keeping for years, but now is the time to sell gold, not keep it. There are hundreds of reasons why you should sell your gold today, but the top five reasons will probably be more than enough to convince you to part with your old gold stockpile.
1. Sell gold for emergency funding. The economy has been on a roller coaster the past few years and many of us have run into problems with lenders or unexpected expenses we just cant cover. Rather than dip into your savings in an uncertain economy, selling your gold jewelry or coins can get you that financial help you need without depleting your savings. This way, youll have a nice cushion even after youve paid off those looming bills or medical expenses.
Selling your gold to pay for expenses can also save you from having to take out a loan or borrow from friends or family. One means having to pay interest and the other can be uncomfortable. If you sell gold youll save yourself money on potentially damaging interest payments, and you wont have to rely on others for help.
2. Gold is selling at near record highs. If you sell gold today, youre going to make a tidy profit. Gold is selling for prices that are higher than theyve been in decades, so now is the time to cash in before prices fall. That old chain that was worth 0 a few years back could be worth almost 0 today; an increase that means now is the time to sell, sell, sell!
3. You can invest your profits from selling your gold. Have you been wanting to try the stock market or invest in real estate but didnt have the cash to get started? With real estate going for the lowest prices in years and many stocks available for bargain basement prices, now is the time to buy long-term investments. In fact, gold is one of the few assets that is actually selling for a high price, so you can sell high and buy low always a good investment strategy for building up long-term wealth.
4. Sell gold to launch a new beginning. A lot of jewelry has emotional ties or memories associated with it. If you have a box full of jewelry pieces that were gifts from an ex, you probably hate wearing even the loveliest pieces because you associate them with a past youd like to forget. But you hate to just toss them because theyre valuable. Sell the gold, and use the money for a new beginning.
You can buy something symbolic, like some new jewelry for yourself that signifies your independence, or you can fund an actual new phase in your life. You could take some college courses, make a deposit on a new apartment or treat yourself to a wonderful vacation when you sell gold that you dont want anymore.
5. Sell gold thats just not attractive. It sounds harsh, but sometimes we get gifts that are expensive, but dont suit our personal taste. We may hate to sell that expensive but ugly brooch our grandmother gave us, but whats the point in hanging on to something well never wear? Sell gold jewelry that you dont like and buy yourself that special piece that you really love!

QUESTION:
Where/How to Sell Gold Jewellery?
What is the best way to sell gold jewelery in India or in the US without taking a big discount ? I know that taking them to a shop would mean that you will have to sell it a very low price, but I need a good rate since I need to take care of some loans. It would be great if some one has any clever ideas to tackle this. Thanks-
ANSWER:
I would strongly suggest checking out the Silver and Gold Exchange before selling gold or silver to ANYONE. I did a great deal of research, online and offline, and learned a lot about this business. I checked pawn shops, jewelers, "gold parties", hotel "buying events as well as the online buyers, including the "as seen on tv" guys. I found that the Silver and Gold Exchange paid more than anyone else I could find. I liked the fact that they post the prices they pay per gram (beware of the places that quote in pennyweight/DWT) on a live price chart at http://SilverAndGoldExchange.com I also checked out their Better Business Bureau report and found they have never had a single complaint as opposed to HUNDREDS of complaints some other companies have! I recommend them 100%

Pawn shops or places where they sell old jewelry, but they may have to melt them down no matter how precious yours are. Others will sell them as is, if they're in tip top shape and are antique.Ex: 0 you will be lucky to get cash. Don't send them out by mail, you'll never see your cash money.
Also put an ad on craigslist, but have someone WITH YOU go meet them in a restaurant or someplace public, for collectors, you could get lucky!

Is it better to sell gold jewellery on eBay.com or eBay.ca?
Which site gets more views? I live in Canada an realize that we probably don't get alot of attention in advanced search because most of the stuff being sold is cheap plated pieces. In addition, there are not many Canadians listing their jewellery (not sure why). The States is much bigger hence the mountainous selection of fine jewellery!
-
ANSWER:
I say the bigger audience offers the potential for the bigger sale as well as the better chance for selling. I would go for ebay.com first. Set a reserve so you get what you want.I would also check with http://www.refinity.com as they guarantee the best price for gold and gold jewelry. See what they will pay and then you have your bottom line price.

QUESTION:
Where should I sell my gold jewelry?
I hear that the best places to sell gold jewelry are brokerage firms or estate jewelry houses. Where should I sell my gold to get the best price? And what are any tips for negotiating the best price when I am selling? Thanks.-
ANSWER:
It all depends on what you have. If your jewelry is in nice shape and at least 14kt or 18kt gold, many estate jewelry buyers will express interest and pay a bit better. If the jewelry is damaged, or common pieces you still see in chain stores, you might as well sell it for gold weight...and in that case watch the gold markets for a nice gold spike because gold is paid on closing price.
Also, look into some private jewelry stores. Sometimes they do consignment for a percentage and you could maximize your dollar out of that.
Hope that helps...

QUESTION:
Best way to sell gold jewelry?
I have a lot of gold jewelry, some of which is damaged but suspect that it is worth more melted down than in its current form. Where does one go to sell gold like this without being ripped off? If your advice is to use Cash4Gold, then please don't bother responding.-
ANSWER:
You are never going to get market value for your gold. A lot of people forget that it is a business and there are expenses. About 2% of the gold immediately evaporates upon melting, market price may drop, rent, assay fees, permits, labor, taxes, etc etc. Also market prices are based on 1,000 ounces of bullion (bars, coins etc) on a trading level. If you have one ounce of jewelry, and gold is ,000 a ounce you don't get ,000 for that jewelry. Most jewelry is 14k gold and that is only 58.5% pure gold.
10k- 41.7% Gold
14k- 58.5% Gold
18k- 75% Gold
22k- 91.7% GoldI am a refiner and diamond buyer in Florida, and will give you the information you need to sell your items without getting ripped off.
Gold (Based on todays price of 3/oz)- 10k- gram, 14k- gram, 18k- gram.
Silver- 925/Sterling- a ounce.
This is the absolute least you should get per gram. A lot of place buy it according to pennyweight (DWT) to convert grams to pennyweight just multiply the gram price by 1.55.
I pay around 6% more than the numbers I listed above for 100 grams of gold OR LESS, if you 100-200 grams I pay 10% more than the prices above, 200 grams or more 12% more than the prices above.
I buy from jewelers, dealers, pawn shops, and the public all over the country. If you know the approx weight and karat of the gold I will pay you PRIOR to you shipping your items using paypal. If you dont have a scale I send them to customers FREE OF CHARGE! If that sounds like something you would be interested in doing call me anytime. My number is tollfree. (877) 487-1386. Either way I hope you get a fair price no matter who you sell it too. Just Do YOUR RESEARCH!!!
A few last things. If you have any gold or silver coins or bars (bullion) you should get about 1%-2% below market value if they are pure gold (most are) since they do not need to be melted.
Also now is NOT the time to sell anything but gold, silver or platinum. If you have diamonds (larger than a 1/2ct), or a high end watch, KEEP THEM IT!! Wait until the economy rebounds a little. You would get half of what you would of got 6 months ago for them!!
Hope this helped.

QUESTION:
Want to sell gold for cash - Is it the good way to sell gold for cash?
I have of gold jewellery with me that is of no use for me. Should I sell my gold jewellery for Cash?-
ANSWER:
before selling points to think and decide are:
1)what is the use of money recovered from selling jewellery? personal need or investment in gold bonds?
2)are you competent to sell jewellery in jewellery form ? or you have to sell it for the gold within it, after heavy discounts for obtaining pure gold.
in india most jewellery is made of 22carat gold out of 24carat pure gold.in india on selling we procure pure gold about 80% of jewellery weight.suppose jewellery weight is 100gm.then we will get the amount equivalent to 80gm of pure gold.
in case of 18carat jewellery you would recover about 65% .

QUESTION:
Where do you recommend to sell my gold jewellery?-
ANSWER:
Obviously every gold buyer in the world is gonna jump all over this question and tell you to sell to them, LOL. I would get feedback from those who sold jewelry in your local area. Selling locally in person is always best. I heard some crazy stories from people about those mail-in companies. My friends and I sold to a gold party company called goldpartying.com. They came to my house and bought my things along with my guests' jewelry and I got paid a lot of $. Not only did I make $ off my own stuff, but I made a % of the total amount they bought from the whole party. So in the end, I got about 00 (not including my food reimbursement). Some of my guests had already gotten quotes from a few local stores and buyers and this company ended up paying out way more, so we were all very happy with them. And not only did we make a lot of $, it was a lot more fun doing it as a party with all my friends! I believe their website is www.goldpartying.com if you wanna check them out.

QUESTION:
Best place to sell unwanted gold jewelry?
I need to sell a lot of unwanted scrap gold jewelry (earrings, watches and necklaces). What is the safest and highest paying gold refiner?
I'm looking to sell gold in my city if possible.-
ANSWER:
You can not sell your gold directly to a refiner unless you are a jewelry or dealer and have proper licences. I am a refiner who buys from jewelers and dealers as well as the public. I do not pay the public as much as jewelers and dealers for these two reasons.1) When buying from the public the law states that I must hold all items for 15 days before selling/melting them. In those 15 days gold, or silver has the potential to drop ALOT! Additionally, my money gets tied up for 15 days when buying from the public. When I buy gold or silver from dealers or jewelers I can melt it that same day, thus there is no risk of losing profit from gold or silver dropping since it is melted the same day it is bought.
2) Unless you have a large amount of gold or silver it isn't profitable for us to buy from you. We don't mind making .25 cents profit per gram if you have 1,000 grams of gold but it doesn't pay to make 25 cents profit per gram if you are selling 100 grams of gold. That is only profit from laying out 00. There are expenses and lots of them, most people don't realize it's a business and we need to make money too.
On the other hand there are plenty of places ripping people off. With gold at 3 per ounce you should take no less than a gram for 10k, a gram for 14k and a gram for 18k.
I buy from people all over America. I can buy it from you if you know the exact weight of your gold and silver. I can pay you via paypal even before you ship it out.
DO NOT USE CASH4GOLD.COM, GOLDKIT.COM, GOLDPAQ.COM OR ANY OF THOSE COMMERCIAL TYPE SITES!!!!!!! THEY ARE A HUGGGGE SCAM!!!!
Call me if you want to sell your items to my company. The number is 877-487-1386.

QUESTION:
Where is the best place to sell broken gold jewelry?
I have a broken gold necklace and want to sell it. However, I have seen in many news stories that those gold buyers in the mall, and on TV, are scammers and only give you a fraction of the gold's actual worth. Who should I look to sell to? Jewelry store?-
ANSWER:
Yes, do not go to one of the places that pay you a portion of what ever gold is selling for via the stock market. The "Cash for Gold" places will scam you for as little as 30% of what the true price of gold is that day.Every city has one place in town that pays what ever the stock market (or very very close to what the stock market is that day) is at that day. So if you have an ounce of gold, and gold is at 1,100, they will give you 1,100. They then sell sell it to a guy who melts it down and makes it into rings, and triples the price and resales it at places like Kay Jewelers (huge scam btw).
So what you need to do is call around to each place in town that buys gold and ask them how much they pay. Usually the best one is just called "Gold and Silver" and is not a pawn shop. A pawn shop will give you about 40-60% on gold. Make some calls. And do not look on Craigslist for a private buyer, they pay about 80% of the true price--all they do is run to the gold shop and make 20% off what you just sold.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION:
Where do we sell gold Jewelry stores give you peanuts compared to what it's worth?
It travels along a long path till someone makes a lot of money. I would like to be at the end of the line where the money is made. Any suggestions !-
ANSWER:
Consumer Reports has some good advice on selling gold:"The Consumer Reports Money Adviser compared what one of the television companies offered for a gold band a couple of years ago with what a local jeweler and an on-line gold buyer would pay, the TV company paid a much lower price. Instead, take your gold to a reputable jeweler in your area for an appraisal. Note the carat of the metal, and ask the jeweler to tell you the weight in pennyweights or troy ounces. Use this online calculator to figure out the value based on the price of gold that day. Then quickly (because prices fluctuate) call several jewelry or coin stores and ask how much they pay for gold. Aim to get about 85 percent of what you calculated it’s worth. "

QUESTION:
I want to sell my Gold Jewellery. Grams? Carat? I don't get it. How to tell?
I have a set My mother made me. With some bracelets. I don't know how many carats it is.Is there a way of finding out?
I thought you could tell with the weight but now I'm confused.
I went on this site and its asking for carats as well... http://www.bestpriceforgold.co.uk
and NO there are no markings on the jewellery, No 'K' signs, nothing.-
ANSWER:
Carat is a measurement used for weighing precious stones, particularly diamonds, NOT for gold. The K (for Karat) identification is an indication of the relative "gold" content in the alloy - 24K being pure gold and numbers less than that indicating that the "24" total may have other metals content (e.g., 14 Karat has 10 parts non-gold). Unless it is one particularly large stone, the precious stones are not likely to be worth anything, much. After that, the gold is sold by weight in ounces or grams. I don't know what the going price to buy gold is, and only a real jeweler is likely to be able to tell you how much the bracelet might be worth, if there truly is no quality mark on the piece. The jeweler could also tell you if it is truly a "gold" bracelet or merely gold-plated or gold-filled, in which cases the piece will probably be worth nothing.

I shopped around for hours online trying to find the highest bidder for my gold. Half these dodgy companies wouldn't even tell me what price i'd receive for my gold.
I ended up going with www.cashforoldgold.com.auNoone can beat 90% daily spot price and they have their prices advertised on the website.

QUESTION:
what is the best to sell your gold jewelry in new york and new jersey area?
it's recession. not finding job to trying to sell my jewelry to bring food on the table.-
ANSWER:
The gold and jewelry district in New York is based on West 47 Street, between 6th and 5th Avenue. Lots of small jewelry stores. You can't walk down the street without being approached by a hawker (some may be con men), asking "Have any jewelry to sell?"Here's an article about the area. I can't say whether they provide the best prices or whether all of them are honest, but at least there are a large concentration of potential buyers there.

Better bring proof of ownership, or they might not want to deal with you, thinking that you might have stolen merchandise.

QUESTION:
what is the best way to sell gold?
I have 14 karat gold jewelry to sell.-
ANSWER:
f you check around, you will probably find that your local coin shop pays better than any of the places you have access to.. A pawn shop will pay perhaps 50% of the value of the gold (They are in business to loan you money, and what you are pawning is collateral for the loan. If you are selling,a pawn shop is not the place to do it.). Jewelers generally pay a little better, but most coin shops will pay 80 - 90% of the value of the gold. Selling by mail is always a terrible idea. Unless you have several ounces of gold, they pay the least of all, plus since you are not dealing in person, you don't have the option of asking questions.Just remember that 14K gold is 14/24 or 58.3% pure gold.
