     Well, the Krugerrand is real currency (like the US dollar bill), just that it's made of gold and issued by a foreign country.
     If I had one, I'd walk into my local bank, talk to the branch manager (whom I happen to know pretty well) and ask her. Odds are she'd (yes, it's a "she") would say, "Let me check." And she'd check what the going exchange rate is, and make me an offer for the Krug right then and there. The current market price for the 1 ounce Krug is about 0. (You can also have fractional Krugs'. (.5 oz., .25 oz. and .10 oz).
     The bank isn't going to pay that much though, they want to make a profit on the coin when you sell it.

     You need to know what you're buying. I wouldn't expect gold from a mine to be other than the raw ore. You'd need to refine and smelt the gold which would require a whole extra expense and set of permits, facilities, etc. Pure gold would only come from a refining company. Making money in this fashion is difficult at best. Usually, you need to deal in large quantities to make any money at all. The cost of gold is pretty much the same if you take the currency exchange rates into consideration.

    I've been buying silver and gold for a few years now. Bulk us/foreign junk, bars, and some collectible coins that I find interesting. I have a few questions. I check Kitco for my prices. Does the price continue to change in Europe, and on weekends after NY is closed? For example: I'm in Chicago, about 2:00am Sat. looking at Fri close.     I need help creating a livingroom with a masculine flair like an old world study or map room?
    I've just coerced my family into move from NY to FL. To show my appreciation to my husband and son, I'd like to our new livingroom to have a distinctly masculine feel. We're in a new condo with 10 ft ceilings, 18" beige tiles on the floor and white walls. We're renting so I can't paint the walls.
    I've purchased a burgundy leather nail head sofa with a matching aztec patterned fabric chair in burgundy and gold whose coordinating pillows I plan to put on the sofa. I've also bought some dark hard wood coffee and end tables with a lovely golden glow in the right light. I have some heavy drapes that are again mostly gold with a nondistinct pattern. I'm not sold on the drapes. A large medium oak diningroom table is visible as is the kitchen in black and beige granite, black appliances and medium wood cabinets.
    What do I do for a rug, put on the walls, and use for window treatments? What colors do I need to bring in beside gold and burgundy? Any good websites for this style of decor?

      Check out eBay for some antlers to put on the wall. A book case with a lot of books would be nice. Lamps with stained glass shades or brass pharmacy stylel lamps are good. Maybe mica shade lamps (check out www.homedecoratorscollection.com) For a rug, I'd look for a dark colored dhurrie or kilim (flat weave, easy to keep clean and reasonably indexpensive), or maybe an oriental. We have a cowhide in our library. Could the drapes be dyed burgundy or brown?

      Kilim pillow covers are avail in sets from Crate and Barrell. I really like them on our leather sofa.

    ok well i'm 16< turning 17 April 15, live in NY.
    my father was killed when i was 3 in Brooklyn, and when i 14 about 2 years ago, my mother had a stroke, she was hospitalized and went into a coma. i moved in with my older brother, he is now 34 and is married with two kids.my mother eventually got out of the coma and went to out home country, Colombia, to be with out family.i was left here with my brother.

    the problem is my brother is known to have anger problems , and when he gets upset he tends to use , hmm, unnecessary language and now i just cant take it anymore.

    my mother receives social security payments because of my father, about 400 $ a month, i have been getting that money, as a allowance, recently the account in which the money comes in was frozen and ic couldn't get the money out, i told my brother 3 times, the each time he said to me that i had to figure it out on my own. my sister in law tried to help by in tenting to wire the money to an other account, at first it appeared to work, so i received the money from them, but the next day my sister in law noticed that it didn't go though and my brother immediately took the money from me, i asked him once more what i was supposed to do for money and he simply said "i don't know" btw he isn't poor anything, he owns about 4 homes and has money, drives a bmw etc.

    so i was left with no money, i hadn't had money for about 3 weeks and was only getting by
    ebt card (food stamps) which the gov. also gives my mother. i was using the card for my lunch,, yes i would go to a food market and by a drink and ships everyday for my lunch, because i didn't have any money

    i decided to sell the gold chain my father left me, btw, my brother and i have different fathers, i hurt a lot to sell the only thing i had from my father but i needed the money. when my brother got home and found out i sold the chain he gotextremmlyy mad and started to call me anidiott, that i was stupid, curing at me, saying a lot ofhurt fulll stuff, heeventuallyy said that if i needed money( which was stupidbecausee i obviously do) that i should have just asked him ( which i did 4 times) ididn'tt say anythingbecausee it would just make it worse.

    the next week, out of the blue my brother decided to take away mybett card from mebecausee my sister in law wanted to go shopping. i told him that it was the only means of eating, he said too bad that it was for the family. heforcedd me to give it to him.... i cried on my walk to school, icouldn'tt believe that my family would do that to me. the next day, i guess he felt bad or something, he decided to give it back,, as i was leaving for school he call me, i go to his room and he tell me to take the card back,,,, he just said you can have the card back,, hecouldn'tt even say sorry or anything,.. i said no, that h e could have it that ill figure out what to do.

    he brother turned into the hulk! he jump out of bed, began yelling at me , cursing at me, calling me a proud sob that i was only creatingproblemm for my self etc, then he kicked me out. honestly i was so relieved when he kicked me out.
    as soon as he said that i went ot my room and packed some of my cloths and left, i am now at my mother home. i have no money nor food. ive been eating cereal and canned food from 4 years ago..

    Where to get best value for diamond ring?
    The diamond ring I received is totally not my taste at all, so I really don't like it. I'd love to trade it or sell it and buy what I like, but don't know where in NY or NJ it can be done.     I went to Maryland for New Years to see my ex, and before I left I gave him my gold cross necklace that my grandmother gave me. There is an advertisement and/or article about the rare gold coins they(the rare coin and Bullion reserve) mentioned that they are not affiliated with the U.S. government right under the name of their company. they said the coins are dollar ones that they are selling in between 0-300 for one. and they said that it is best to transfer a minimum 30 percent of your assets into Gold. they said that gold coins get a value up to 5 times or more of the amount of U.S. currency/dollars that you put into it if the value/price if predictions about Gold price increases become reality. Also on the bottom they mentioned that there is no guarantee that the price/value of Gold will go up or down.

      I have seen the advertisements that you are referring to. The coins they are selling contain 0.1 troy ounce of gold, which at today's gold price, is worth .50.
      My opinion is that gold would have to go to 00 a troy ounce for their predictions to be true, which is extremely unlikely.

    Car accident questions?
    I got into a car accident last night in Brooklyn on the East bound Belt Parkway. Two cars (a gold Chevy Trailblazer and a black 5series BMW) were trying to merge onto the highway that me and a White Nissan Murano were already on. I am behind the Nissan Murano on the highway and the BMW is behind the Trailblazer waiting to get on to the highway. The BMW decides that he doesn't want to give the right of way to us (the people already on the highway), and cuts everyone off (the trailblazer, the Murano, and my 2001 Nissan Sentra). The Murano stops short and I slam into the back of him. My airbags deployed and my car is totaled. The Murano bumper has a crack in it (nothing major- probably because he had the bumper guard) and he might have some damage underneath his car (nothing visible but you never know). The BMW fled the scene and no one got a license plate number. The trailblazer did not hit anyone but has slight damage caused by the BMW that fled the scene. Yes I tried braking but it didn't slow down enough in time. Everything happened within 10 seconds. I have several questions:

    1. Is there any way that I will not be found at fault? Like if an investigation is done and they find out that I had bad brakes?

    2. If they launch an investigation and find that my brakes were faulty would that change anything?

    3. Does anyone pay for the damage to my car? I only have liability coverage but maybe his insurance? Can I pay for full coverage now so that they will pay for my car?

    4. 00 is what I paid for the car. The car will cost at least 00 to fix. What should I do with the car if insurance doesn't want to reimburse? I called a couple of junkyards and they told me around 0. I think that is too low-what about you? I also called a charity to see about donating it and they said that I could get a 0-500 tax credit when I file taxes for 2009. I heard bad things about that but only from 2 people so I really don't know. Anyone know anything about that?

    5. How much do you think, in percentage, will my insurance go up?

    6. If I took the car and tried to do a trade-in, will they give me much for thfor it?

    7. Finally, I am in pain. My entire right side of my body hurts, from my neck to my ankle, including my lower back. Can I get a personal injury settlement? The towing people that came to the scene said that I can. I don't know.

    Final tidbits of information, I live and the accident took place in Brooklyn, NY. I am a 21 year old female. Car is registered and owned by me, all in my name. I had my license for 23 months, will be 2 years in June. I bought the car from some people that took me to an auction. Car was sold as is from the auction to the dealer that bought the car for me. But I am not sure if it is as is from the dealer to me?? I went to a dealer's auction so I had to have a dealer buy and then buy from that dealer (for people that don't know).

      Lets tackle this one at a time.

      1. Yes, you are 100% at fault. You failed to keep a proper following distance and rear ended the vehicle in front of you this makes you at fault...but i think you know this already. If your vehicle had "bad brakes" it wouldn't have been bad only at the accident. they would have been acting up before this accident so this is not really a defense.

      2. Your insurance company will not do an investigation into this due to the expense and this is really a no brainer as you simply failed to keep a proper following distance. I know you probably disagree with this but this is how the law falls.

      3. NO, no one pays you for your damages. If you only carry liability it will take care of the damages to the other parties vehicle and that is all. Always remember to carry full coverage if you cannot afford to replace your vehicle on your own without assistance then you need to reconsider this the next time you purchase a car. The -30 a month saving isn't worth it when all is said and done as now you have no car and no help with offsetting the cost of another onne.

      4. Your vehicle is definitely a total loss. You can chose to repair it on your own but it really may not be worth it. A Nissan Murano unfortunately does not have much of a resale value. I don't know anyone who has donated a vehicle so I don't have any info on this but you might try listing it on EBAY or CRAIGSLIST and you may get more money then just junking it at a salveage yard.

      5. Rates are a litlte harder to determine. Many factors go into rates and you will not get an answer on this questions anywhere on this forum. Once the claim is settled ask your agent and they can let you know.

      6. No, you will not get much for the vehicle on trade in. You might try one of those places that advertise if you can tow it in roll it in or drive it in and they may give you more that way but can't promise this either.

      7. I'm sure you're not feeling well after the accident. I believe New York is a PIP state so you should be able to file and injury claim with your own insurance company. I'm not well versed in New York Policies but PIP is something that is normally carried under your liability coverage. Speak to your adjuster about this.
