Turn Your Old Gold Into Cash!

Sell My Gold

I found that the best place to sell my gold was with an online buyer. From my Internet research, I was able to see that they were clearly the best choice available.

One of the first places I visited while performing my research, was an online commodity website. These types of sites provide you with industry information such as the current market rate for gold, basic terms and relevant gold data. Having this information allows you to become a better informed seller so that you can maximize your profit from your gold items.

Best Place to Sell My Gold

After using the online yellow pages and a major search engine, I was able to find that an online gold buyer was the best place to sell my gold. They provide a free mailing kit that can be used to send in your gold items quickly. They also provide a fast turnaround time and great customer service.

If you were to use a physical location such as a pawn shop or jewelry store, you would be provided with lower quotes. These types of venues face high overhead expenses and take too much of your time. You have to drive to each location, wait in line, wait in traffic and they make you spend your expensive gas.

Read Customer Reviews and Comments

Once I selected my online gold buyer I used the Internet to visit blogs, forums, review sites and search engines for more information on the business. That is when I discovered that the Better Business Bureau provided excellent data on millions of businesses. You can use them to find out about a company's history and complaints.

You will want to choose a gold buyer that does not have numerous unresolved complaints, a bad rating or a poor history. I chose a buyer that is accredited. This made them the best place to sell my gold because they passed strict guidelines of honesty, trustworthiness and integrity.

      None.

Gold - if it is real, and 99% pure will sell at market rates. Market rates mean it is the same price world-wide.

    • ANSWER:
You should be able to get 70% of its value from a reputable jeweler. The value is easy:

Gold per ounce = ,400. There are 31 grams per ounce (Troy), so...
      Gold per gram = .

      24 karat = 100% gold.
      14 karat = 58% gold.
      18 karat = 75% gold.

Example: You bring in a 14karat gold necklace that weighs 11 grams. How much is it "worth" and how much should you get?

      Worth: 11 grams x gram x 58% = 7

    • ANSWER:

  9. QUESTION:
Where should I sell my gold jewelry?
I hear that the best places to sell gold jewelry are brokerage firms or estate jewelry houses. Where should I sell my gold to get the best price? And what are any tips for negotiating the best price when I am selling? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
It all depends on what you have. If your jewelry is in nice shape and at least 14kt or 18kt gold, many estate jewelry buyers will express interest and pay a bit better.

If the jewelry is damaged, or common pieces you still see in chain stores, you might as well sell it for gold weight...and in that case watch the gold markets for a nice gold spike because gold is paid on closing price.

Also, look into some private jewelry stores. Sometimes they do consignment for a percentage and you could maximize your dollar out of that.

      Hope that helps...

What's the best way to sell gold online ?

    Thank you

  12. QUESTION:
Best place to sell unwanted gold jewelry?
I need to sell a lot of unwanted scrap gold jewelry (earrings, watches and necklaces). What is the safest and highest paying gold refiner?
I'm looking to sell gold in my city if possible.

    • ANSWER:
You can not sell your gold directly to a refiner unless you are a jewelry or dealer and have proper licences. I am a refiner who buys from jewelers and dealers as well as the public. I do not pay the public as much as jewelers and dealers for these two reasons.

      1) When buying from the public the law states that I must hold all items for 15 days before selling/melting them. In those 15 days gold, or silver has the potential to drop ALOT! Additionally, my money gets tied up for 15 days when buying from the public. When I buy gold or silver from dealers or jewelers I can melt it that same day, thus there is no risk of losing profit from gold or silver dropping since it is melted the same day it is bought.

      2) Unless you have a large amount of gold or silver it isn't profitable for us to buy from you. We don't mind making .25 cents profit per gram if you have 1,000 grams of gold but it doesn't pay to make 25 cents profit per gram if you are selling 100 grams of gold. That is only profit from laying out 00. There are expenses and lots of them, most people don't realize it's a business and we need to make money too.

On the other hand there are plenty of places ripping people off. With gold at 3 per ounce you should take no less than a gram for 10k, a gram for 14k and a gram for 18k.

I buy from people all over America. I can buy it from you if you know the exact weight of your gold and silver. I can pay you via paypal even before you ship it out.

DO NOT USE CASH4GOLD.COM, GOLDKIT.COM, GOLDPAQ.COM OR ANY OF THOSE COMMERCIAL TYPE SITES!!!!!!! THEY ARE A HUGGGGE SCAM!!!!

Call me if you want to sell your items to my company. The number is 877-487-1386.

  13. QUESTION:
How do I buy and sell gold/ gold bullion?
I'm making my first long term investment and I'd like to know, how do I buy and sell gold bullion?

    • ANSWER:

  14. QUESTION:
How do I sell my a class gold ring at a pawn shop?
I do not have experience at dealing with the clerks at pawn shops. Has anybody ever sold gold and gotten a good deal?
Do you know a system / trick on how to handle your transaction? Thanks a million!!

    • ANSWER:
The pawn shop will give you a price for what they will pay you for it. Often, they will give you a little more for it if you say you want a loan on it and they think you'll be returning to buy it back. Have you checked into any scrap gold dealers or though about craigslist or ebay? It is possible to have the ring altered for another person(new stone, high school and such).

  15. QUESTION:
What's the best way to sell gold jewlry to raise cash?
I need cash for down payment. I've heard people selling gold by mailing in. Doesn't sound possible to me to send off valuables to an unknown person and get desired outcome, that's why I'm asking here. I haven't seen buyers coming to my area to buy gold, that sort of thing. Your input is much appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
      You have two options:

The first is to shop your valuables around town to local jewelers. You can generally price compare them so that you know you are at least getting a competitive bid. The problem is that most jewelers are simply middlemen to a refiner which means you aren't going to get the absolute most for your items.

The second option is to use a national buyer. I would avoid the suggestion of the poster below who recommended goldintomoney since they are simply a front for Cash4Gold. Cash4Gold has a horrible reputation and doesn't pay anything compared to reputable buyers. See their BBB report here: http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/businessreport.aspx?companyid=16000679

I have had two good experiences with American Gold and Silver. They paid me decent money for the gold and diamond rings I sent them and I was more comfortable with them because they are a subsidiary of a publicly traded company (DGSE Companies, Inc.) Plus their BBB rating is A+: http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/gold-silver-and-platinum-dealers/dallas-gold-and-silver-exchange-in-dallas-tx-356

Hope that helps. Good luck on the new home!

  16. QUESTION:
How Can I sell my old gold stuff online?
    Hello everyone,

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know what cash4gold will pay. I do know from my past experience, that I sent them a scrap jewelry ring and they paid me .26. I rejected the offer and they returned my ring promptly. I then found another company, http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ that paid me 3 for the same ring!! and they enclosed a track able Fedex pack along with 0 insurance as opposed to some crappy envelope from cash4gold that you cant even track. I really got burned a couple of times using a couple of different cash for gold companies but with http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ I feel I finally found one that I could really trust with my valuables.

  18. QUESTION:
I would like to sell my silver and gold?
What or where is the best way to sell gold and silver.

    • ANSWER:
It depends on what you have. Look for places that deal in similar goods.

If you have coins or bars, go to a coin dealer.

Take jewelry to a jeweler. There are huge markups on jewelry, so do not expect anything like what similar items sell for. Consider a consignment shop. If you know ebay, perhaps that is an option.

Don't even consider the mall kiosks or mail-in-gold deals. Very poor prices.

  22. QUESTION:
Where can you sell gold without a fee?
So thinking of investing in gold, the type that I buy and get it directly so that I have no storage fees. So in say 10 years when I unbury this in my backyard where can I sell it? I know all those Cash4Gold rubbish places are not giving you what gold is actually worth. So please site some sources as I've looked a bit on the net and can't seem to find anything concrete. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
There is not a fee to sell gold or silver back to market. There is only a fee to buy it. You are misunderstanding the spot price of gold and how it works. Unlike stocks, gold and silver have a spot price. The spot price in any given time is the difference between the BID (Selling back to market) price and the ASK (Buying from the market price). So if the Bid price is 00.00 and the Ask price is 02.00 then the spot price is 01.00. The spot price ONLY refers to PAPER gold not PHYSICAL gold and silver. Now in addition to the spot price the PHYSICAL metals market has a premium on the physical metal. These premiums vary as to exactly the type of product being bought. Coins always carry a higher premium then bars. Then you have premium differences for bullion coins and numismatic coins. It is vital to learn and know the differences betewwn these types of coins.

As to where to sell back to market you can start with KITCO. Here is the link to figure out what each type of product they deal will will pay you if you sell to them. https://online.kitco.com/selltokitco/selltokitco_USD.html
Other metals sites usually do not provide real time selling back to market pricing. However Monex has real time buying from market prices http://www.monex.com/liveprices so does American Gold Exchange http://www.amergold.com/

Now you have to learn exactly what products to buy and why to buy them. You need to lean which to avoid and why. Rule of thumb.....If you are in the US then only buy US Gold coins. Avoid coins encased in plastic numismatic graded holders. They are too expensive and are not woth the extra money in most cases. Aviod gold from other countries except fractional gold bullion Maple Leafs from Canada. For Silver avoid pre 1964 silver coins in large amounts. I personally only buy Silver Maple Leaf Bullion coins and Silver American Eagles.

Also you need to understand that gold is not an investment. Gold is and acts more like an insurance policy. You are insuring that something in your portfolio can never go to [FAQ-ANSWER].00. All paper assets have the ability to go to [FAQ-ANSWER].00. This is what you are insuring against. The only other asset to not go to zero is real estate. But real estate is illiquid. Because of the debt time bomb you better own gold. The best way to own gold is to buy and take physical delivery of the gold itself. Silver is also in the gold realm as well, so when talking about gold, silver is included.

It is always a good idea to own some gold and silver at all price levels. To truly understand gold and silver, and why you should own it you have to understand the economy and get the movie of life on the largest screen possible.

Gold is money and a store of value. It is the "Currency of last resort" as Greenspan has stated many times through the years. Gold doesnt pay interest, dividends, doesnt restate earnings, has no lawyers, accountants, CEOs or CFOs lying to you on television. Gold doesnt ask for bailouts, doesnt go Bankrupt and cannot cook its books. Gold cant be debased or printed at the will of a company or governmetnt and holds its purchasing power.

Gold sits there as a store of value, is labor intensive, and a one ounce coin will not split into a bunch of half ounce coins at the direction of the pin stripped bandits on Wall Street. Also Gold is the ONLY asset class in the last ten years to increase in value and retain every dollar of its purchasing power.

Do not look at gold in terms of price. Look at prices and money in terms of gold. Paper currency doesnt gain in value, neither does gold. In 1999 when gold was at 0.00 an ounce, a one ounce gold bullion coin bought about 400 gallons of gas. Today with gas prices up and gold at 00.00 an ounce the same one ounce gold coin still buys about the same amount of gas. This is true for food, energy, and other basic items needed for living. The gold didnt gain value at all. It stayed the same. It only takes more paper to buy the same amount of goods and services. If gold were to fall say down to 0 an ounce again then that would mean all prices would fall as well. Do you see gas going back to .00 a gallon anytime soon? Look at gold as a currency and as insurance of buying power and a store of value not as an investment. Therefore dont worry about the price of gold in paper terms. As Alan Greenspan former Chairman of the Federal Reserve said ....

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. If everyone decided, for example, to convert all his bank deposits to silver or copper or any other good, and thereafter declined to accept checks as payment for goods, bank deposits would lose their purchasing power and government-created bank credit would be worthless as a claim on goods. The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves.

This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard."

  23. QUESTION:
How could I sell my Swiss gold coins?
I've got some Swiss francs that are solid gold and were issued by banks in switzerland - to sell them do I have to take them back to that bank or is there any other way of selling gold?
Don't suggest doing one of the postal gold things off the telly please - this is serious gold worth a lot of money

    • ANSWER:
I am guessing that what you have are the Swiss 20 Franc gold coins from the late 1800s up to 1947. Those are worth at least the value of the gold (which today is about US4). Nearly any coin shop will pay 90% of that. Pawn shops and jewelry stores generally pay somewhat less, and selling by mail is outright foolishness.
If you have 10 Franc coins, those will go for about 20% more than bullion value. The 100 Franc coins are outright rare.

  24. QUESTION:
How do i sell my gold jewelry?

I am only 14 years old.
I need money.... and i cant get a job yet.

  25. QUESTION:
Who do I see to sell gold to in person in Accra, Ghana?
My friend is trying to raise some money to get back to the USA and wants to sell her gold ingot and jewelry to raise some funds. She bought too much stuff while she was there and is short on cash.

    • ANSWER:
She can go to any jewellers in Accra, if they don't buy gold they will have a cousin who does. If she bought too much, then just take it back where she bought it. They won't give her the full value back, but probably 80% of the value. And why can't she get home? You have to have a return ticket to get a visa for Ghana to begin with.
Is this someone you have actually met, or is this an online friend? Because this sounds like a very common scam, that same story has been heard thousands of times on online dating sites.

  28. QUESTION:
What's the best way to sell gold/diamond jewelery for the best value?
My husband upgraded my engagement ring on our last anniversary and we don't have children that I could pass it down to. I would like to get most of what he paid for it back, however I know going to a pawn shop will only get us about half of what he paid. I don't believe that Ebay is worth the hassle. Anyone have any suggestions?
I also have the appraisal that goes with the ring showing the approximate value at the time of purchase.

    • ANSWER:
You might shop around at jewelry stores. Some will buy jewelry. Just be careful though because some of them pay you what the pawn shop will...based on the weight of the gold and nothing else. You might also try putting a classified ad in your local newspaper. Only run it for a week and see if you get any takers. That kind of thing probably wouldn't sell well on Ebay because I think most people would want to see that item in person before purchasing.

  31. QUESTION:
Is it OK to sell Gold Grillz to minor without parental consent?
I sell removable gold teeth(grillz), do you think I should make minors(under 18) bring a parent with them to recieve my product?

    • ANSWER:
Well, since they are removeable, you shouldn't have any legal liability for having done a permanent or invasive procedure (like a tattoo or a piercing), BUT, especially since they are costly, you may want to get parental approval to protect yourself. It isn't the sort of thing you want to take a return on, for obvious sanitary reasons, and a parent could really be upset with you for having gone into a transaction of such scope without their knowledge. As a parent of a tween myself, I would certainly want to know if my son took his savings, intending to purchase such an item.
By the way-I bet you're doing a great business-the teens LOVE those things!

I cannot find any local or small banks or credit unions here in San Francisco that sell gold Kruggerands or any gold coins. What gives? I want to save on dealer commission by buy my gold directly from a bank

    • ANSWER:
Banks do not sell gold, and they are not precious metals dealers. That's what gives. They have checking/saving/CDs etc. In other words, bank stuff.
For gold, go to kitco, the u.s. mint, or a coin dealer. You want physical gold, either pay the commission, or buy the GLD etf.

  33. QUESTION:
what the best place to sell gold to?
im looking to sell my gold and i don't know who to sell it to. what is the place that will pay out the highest?

    • ANSWER:
Without any doubt, the Silver and Gold Exchange is your best bet and here's why: 1) They pay more than anyone else I have seen. 2) They have a live price chart on their website ( http://SilverAndGoldExchange.com ) that shows exactly what they are paying in grams. 3)They provide free Priority Mail shipping (not a "gold pack") and pay for up to 00 insurance (not 0 like the others). 4) They use a third party testing center to ensure fair results. 5)They contact you BEFORE sending a check, not the game of mailing out a check and starting a timer for when you have to return it or lose your items forever. 6) They are Better Business Bureau accredited with zero complaints. The reason I am recommending them is because I did business with them twice now and they did some things they certainly didn't need to in order to help my situation. I wont go into detail, but lets just say they are real humans with hearts and not some greedy corporation.

Where to sell Gold in Columbus, Central Ohio?
I am looking to sell my gold but I do not trust those mail away companies. I also would rather deal with someone local.

  37. QUESTION:
Is there a good website to sell gold?
I want to sell my unwanted gold but all the websites I go to want me to call and verify. When I really just want to put my gold in a envolpe and send it, and get my money the next day. If anyone can help i would really apreciate it

    • ANSWER:
Prices change, sometimes -/ounce in a day. Of course they want you to verify! They want to see what you have, whether it's really gold, or gold plated tin. After they look it over and decide how much gold is in it, they offer you a price, fair or not. If you accept the price, they mail you a check.

If they did not do it this way, you might decide the check was not big enough. If they have already melted your gold down, the options are limited. This way if you don't like the offer, they send your stuff back.

  40. QUESTION:
how to sell my gold. Any good suggestion?
I have some gold earned all my life and now want to sell it because I need. How is the best way to sell gold?

    • ANSWER:
Well It's not easy to explain how you should do this so here is a resume.

First you need to have an idea of the worth of your gold. Yo can do this:

Find the gold carat, weight your gold, go to kitco.com and find the daily value.

Depending on gold carat your gold worth different so see the table
      24 100%
      22 91.7%
      18 75%
      14 58.3%
      12 50%
      8 33.3%
      6 25%
      1 4.2%

So if your gold have 18K you must multiply weight x daily price x 0.75 and you have an idea.

Than you can trade it in a local marker. I always recommend local marker I think is safer.

I have learned this from this free book "How and where to sell your gold"

  45. QUESTION:
If I take my bank money and but gold with it, and later sell it, is the buyer supposed to give me all that I ?
paid for it? I once tried to sell gold, and was being offered significantly less than I paid for it. Where can I go that I'll be paid back all that I paid for the gold? I mean, I've heard that gold nowadays is a good investment and all............
(pls replace that "but gold" with "buy gold" in the question)

    • ANSWER:
There are no guarantees that you will get what you paid for it.

You need to understand something about gold prices. You or I can look up the "spot" price anytime:

      http://www.kitco.com/

However, "spot" price is like "prime rate". Not everybody gets it. Certainly when you buy an ounce or two, the seller will charge you a premium over spot. Similarly, when you sell an ounce or two, the buyer will offer you somewhat under spot.

If you are willing to pay large premiums when you buy, and give big discounts when you sell, the premiums/ discounts can wipe out your profits or at least make a hole in them.

The other question is the price you bought at. If you bought at a recent peak of 00 per troy ounce, you will lose money if you sell at the current 1.70. If you bought 5 years ago at 381.00, you could sell at a hefty profit now.

If you find yourself underwater and can wait, I would hold the gold and wait a year or two. Our government continues to spend like a drunken sailor, and the printing presses keep printing money. During times of inflation, gold prices rise. And rise they will.

I don't want to sell my gold to those gold for cash places/websites because I will only get a fraction of the gold's market value. If I melt down my own gold scrap to gold bars where can I sell the gold bars for Gold's true market value?

Where or whom do modern day gold prospectors sell their gold to?

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Anybody who wants to buy your gold bars will have to assay them, heaven only knows what is mixed in with the gold. "White" gold is only 75% gold, for example, the rest is silver and copper. Best would be to find a cash place that will work with you and not charge you assay fees with every batch.
