Turn Your Old Gold Into Cash!

Sell Watches For Cash

Did you know it's simple to sell jewelry to make some extra cash? Most of us have some older necklaces, earrings or bracelets that we're just tired of wearing. They may be out of style, broken or we just don't like them anymore.

You may have avoided getting rid of them because you think, aIt's good jewelry, and I hate to get rid of something that was so expensive. The good news is that your old jewelry, even if it's tarnished, broken or out of style, can still be worth a lot of money. You can turn that jewelry into money in your pocket with just a little bit of effort. There are three simple ways to sell jewelry and get a good return on it. You can sell vintage jewelry online or through an auction house, you can have a yard sale, or you can sell the gold and any diamonds to a scrap gold buyer.

Try to Sell Vintage Jewelry to Collectors

The first way to sell your gold, by listing it on a site such as E-bay or through an estate dealer, is a good idea if you have some truly valuable vintage pieces from the 1920's or earlier. These pieces are valued by collectors and can bring top dollar, but only if in excellent condition with all fasteners working, etc.

The down side to selling your jewelry this way is that it only works with very specific pieces and does cost you some money. You'll need to open an E-bay account, pay to list the items and monitor the auctions yourself, which can be time consuming. If you opt for an estate sales specialist, they will do the work for you, but take a hefty commission on any sales. Alternatively, they may purchase your jewelry outright at a fraction of their actual value. And of course, they may pick and choose only a few pieces, leaving you with the rest of your jewelry to sell on your own.

If you love yard sales, you can also try putting out some of your gold, silver or platinum jewelry during your next sale. Of course, this is hit or miss. Unless the right buyer shows up, you won't make much. You can get lucky, of course, and find someone who loves the styles you no longer want to wear. But be cautious with this approach. If you don't know the buyer, ask for cash or, if they have a personal check, confirm their I.D. and get a phone number and driver's license number.

Sell Jewelry to Scrap Gold Buyers

The simplest and easiest way to sell jewelry is to a gold buyer. There are dozens of companies that now by gold jewelry so that it can be melted down and reused in coins, bullion or new jewelry. The advantage to this is getting a price relatively close to the going price per troy ounce on today's market, and you have very little legwork to do.

A reputable gold buyer will send you an envelope along with clear, detailed instruction on how to send in your jewelry. They will pay the postage in order to receive your jewelry, then call you once they've received it. You'll be quoted a price, and all you have to do is decide if you want to accept the payment or not!

If you want top dollar for your gold, compare prices at a few different online sites for gold buyers to determine which one is giving the best price. If you want to sell jewelry that has precious stones, look for a buyer that will also give you an estimate on the value of stones such as diamonds. You can make a considerable amount if you have necklaces and earrings that are gold with gemstones.

And be sure not to forget about other types of gold, such as coins and old gold fillings! You can send these in as well for a bit more cash. Since most buyers are also interested in platinum and sterling silver, a gold buying company is often the best route to sell your old jewelry. They will purchase all of it, regardless of the style and condition. You can send in broken bracelets, stuffy old gold necklaces and even diamond rings you no longer wear and give you money for both the stones and the gold. Just think, you can easily make some impressive extra money when you sell jewelry that's just taking up space in your drawer!

Will used sex toys sell on eBay or not? I'm a first time seller who needs some extra cash?
So, I have a lot of xxx-rated DVDs that I've already watched, and spanked off to, so many times it doesn't work for me anymore. Can these items be sold on eBay? What about gently used sex toys, and gently worn (few stains) lingerie? Also nudie mags with few sticky pages? Is there a market for these items?

    • ANSWER:
      It's all about the marketing!

The toys aren'y used, they are tested. The DVD's aren't used either, they have been reviewed. The lingerie can be washed, and sold as pre-washed/pre-shrunk.

As for the Mags, well that's just disgusting, so throw them out.

I think you want to skip eBay, and go right to Craig's List.

Not good enough knowing that on ebay they retail for nearly 00 and between 00 and 00 on most online watch stores. I'm hesitant to sell it on ebay because I realize it would be very easy for a buyer to swap it with a fake and claim that I pulled a fast one on him. Also, I tried looking int watchbrokers.com but their reviews are HORRENDOUS! I would rather put my faith in people that that company.

Why are they advertising life insurance and sell-gold commercials on kids' cartoons?
I'm watching He-Man and She-Ra cartoons on the RTV network (Detroit channel 7.2) right now, and I watch "Heathcliff" and "Inspector Gadget" on the THIS-TV network (Detroit channel 4.2) every weekday morning before school. Why do they advertise life insurance, sell-gold-for-cash, and other junk that kids would have no interest in? What ever happened to toys, cereal, and McDonalds commercials during cartoons?

    • ANSWER:
Lots of adults watch cartoons for various reasons, and it's the adults the advertisers need to connect with because they're the ones with any money. (Or a lack of money in the case of sell-gold commercials - that's also why they advertise tech schools and whatnot at that time.)

At least they're not advertising Cialis.

  16. QUESTION:
What should I do with my portfolio of conservatively invested mutual funds? Sell or stay for the long term?
I don't need the money now or anytime soon. But at the same time, I would hate to lose it all or have to endure many years of watching it at a very low point.

Like many people, my stocks have lost a ton of value (about 40 %)

Because these are really conservatively invested mutual funds, they're almost an index of the stock market, at least that's how I sometimes see them.

Do I sell and enjoy the cash now? Or stay for the long haul?

    • ANSWER:
Well, you sound like a long term investor. Leave it alone and dollar cost average.

The watch has no sentimental value so that's not an issue either. I was thinking of selling it at a cash converter near where i live because I ha vent gotten any hits on craigslist. I just want to know how much i should suggest to the guy im going to be selling it to so that im not taken advantage of at the point of sale.

also here is a link to the watches main website. it shows current selling price and all its functions

    • ANSWER:
Markups in the jewelry business can often exceed 100%. If you're selling to a dealer, he would have to be buying well below wholesale to make it worth his investment. You might realize 0-200.

There are a few dealers on Ebay offering your watch (with shipping and a warranty) in the low 0 range. You might try listing yours with a starting price at about 1/2 of MSRP or 0 to see if there is any interest.

      Don

  20. QUESTION:
How do you sell a car to another private party?
hes paying cash. I have the title, registration, and am the owner.
    I live in CA

How do I legally sell a car? Whats the proper procedure? and what are some things to watch out for?
Any special forms I have to acquire or fill out? Do i have to go to a notary or anything?
What is the bill of sale and how do I get one?

    • ANSWER:
I live in CA, and have bought and sold many cars. You need to put the EXACT same name or names that are on the title on the back, and sign the same name(s) also. Make sure you are filling out the sellers portion and not the dealers section.

Next have the buyer fill out the bottom part and do't forget to put the purchase price. You send this to the DMV which releases you as the responsible party for the car even if the new owner fails to do his part and register it properly. You have to return this to DMV within 10 days I think (it says on the title how long).

A note about the purchase price: The CA DMV does cross-reference this form when the buyer goes to register it, si whatever you put there WILL be used to assign value to the vehicle, The buyer will have to pay sales tax on that amount, so fill this out with prudence.

It all is not as difficult as it sounds. Just look the title over carefully while you are filling it out. No notary is required by the way, and you don't need a bill of sale if you have the title (but the buyer may want one anyway).

  21. QUESTION:

  22. QUESTION:
is it illegal to buy and sell stocks at a very fast pace?
what im getting at is, can i buy 00 worth of something today and then sell tomorrow if it goes up just to bank the 2 or 3 hundred bucks? i heard that this is not allowed? basically im looking for a fast way to catch a few extra bucks so i can put that all into something long term. but i have been watching some stocks that would have banked me some nice bonus cash but im afraid i cant buy and seel "legally" i know the pros dont recamend it.

    • ANSWER:
That is not illegal. You can buy and sell as fast as you want to do it. Even with only minutes between the buy and sell transaction.

If you are buying one day and selling the next, no problem. If you buy and sell the same day, you need to become familiar with pattern day trader requirements.

That said, what you are proposing is extremely unlikely. With the numbers you used, you are looking for a 20% to 30% gain within one day. In my opinion, with only 00, you should focus longer term to start with.

  23. QUESTION:

  24. QUESTION:
I'm a SAHM but want to make some cash on the side. Husband angry that I want to sell my used underwear?
Ok, before you jump all over me, let me explain. I stay at home, we can't afford daycare, and I can't find a job. I need some extra cash, so I proposed to my husband a few ideas that I know I can do simply from the house:
    1. sell my used underwear - that may sound gross but there IS a market out there for it.
    2. set up a website where people can watch my husb and I have sex for a small fee per month - we would wear animal masks to protect our identities.
    3. charge men with foot fetishes to lick my toes...but NO sexual touching involved.

This may sound silly but people DO pay for these types of things! My husband thinks its outrages, but frankly I think he is being very selfish. The extra money would help out the whole family!! What do you think?
I forgot to mention I would not bring strange men into our home. I would find a suitable place and have protection with me in case anyone tried to choke me.
No skid marks. I actually wipe.

You can start by contacting the web host. It will not get you your money back, but may stop him from doing the same to others.

You may also want to contact the police. I doubt he would be charged for this one incident, but if others call too, that will help build a stronger case.

People like that are very good at what they do, so don't be too hard on yourself.

    • ANSWER:
First of all, you should NEVER give a man money... If you are not married, do not give him money... You should have gotten more information from him since you were willing to hand over money. You are pretty much screwed because you dont know much about him, the authorities cant do much since you have no information on him. You need to chalk this up to experience... Im sorry this has happened, but you should have known better to have done that, especially meeting him from a web site.... You never know what you are getting your self into with meeting someone from a web site. Sure he might have been nice, but look what he did to you! You will be able to love again, just dont date any more guys from a web site. Best wishes

Give the watches to manager for the amount you need to make a profit on and he will raise that price to make an amount HE needs to make. So let's say you paid .00 each and u want to make .00 on each. You tell manager you want to sell them for no less than .00 ea. Whatever he sells them for you don't worry about. He will make a profit on any price OVER . A good place to sell these things is Hair Salons, Gift Shops, smaller stores and specialty shops. Also try Ebay.

  32. QUESTION:
Does anyone know about jacob&co watches?
    Hi,
I have a Jacob&Co watch that I am looking to sell. With the bad economy and all I could use the cash. I am trying to figure out if this thing has any value to it though? It is a long story of how I ended up with this but to make it really short I took the diamonds out of it and sold them outright and with some of the money I got I put in cubic just for looks. I was wondering if the body of the watch holds any value at all without the real diamonds in it anymore?

    • ANSWER:
list on ebay. and if you the original packaging, recepit and proof of authenticty to ensure bidders its real. Take at least 4 pictures. 1. up close of the face of watch 2. back of watch 3. full front 4. full back. Or you can try taking it to a pawn shop.

  33. QUESTION:
'Cash In The Attic' - does anyone agree that they are underpciing the antiques and robbing the sellers?
I've just watched an elderly lady with fabulous antiques letting them go for a song!!! The lady didn't seem to be too convinced about the low prices but the presenters obviously need to sell things in order to have a programme. And Lorne Spicer, the presenter, - chav or what? She's a real Essex girl - what qualifies her to go rummaging about people's homes and flogging off their family treasures for a pittance?

    • ANSWER:
Keep in mind it is was in vogue or popular right now. Sometimes I think some of the appraisers over price their estimate. It would also seem some of the auction houses they don't get good prices because the buyers aren't there. I know they put special lots in "specialized" auctions which sometimes does better. You would think they would know where the better auctions houses are. Wouldn't you?

Nothing much qualifies her it seems. The male host seems a bit better and more uninformed but, it makes it nicer to watch. I have not cared much to watch the shows with Miss Spicer.

The older lady should have had a younger relative acting as a guide. Then again, it depends on how desperate she was for the money. And she could always put a "reserve" price or minimum acceptable bid.

    • ANSWER:
Start out with a condo and put at least half of your savings on it but keep the other half for emergency fund and go with a 15 year fixed mortgage. You can then upgrade to a larger home when you have another K to put down after your 15 year mortgage is paid. Your credit score and ability to save shows you are responsible and can afford a home but don't strap yourself into a huge home in case you lose income or have to move or illness strikes. If you do get a condo, get a two bedroom and find a reliable roommate to help you pay that mortgage even faster.

  35. QUESTION:
Should America stop selling guns to people without asking their name?
You can buy as many guns as you want in most states, without giving any i.d., any proof of being trained to use them, or any reason for wanting them. Also, it is fine to pay in cash.

Why not just stop selling guns, and watch the gun culture gradually die out?

Failing that, if you must carry on selling them, why not just bring in some sensible licencing laws?

    I mean.....!?!
I'm getting my info from Newsnight.
I'm in the UK and Newsnight is a very reliable BBC news digest programme.
JLB, you are a prime yet scary example of exactly what is wrong with the American Psyche...

The gunman may not have had a licence nor a legal firearm yesterday, but the point you have not "gotten" is how easily anyone can lay their hands on one. Because everyone has one, they can easily be stolen, loaned, bought & sold etc etc. In the UK, a jilted lover who was just an average person would not get their hands on one in a million years. As for drug dealers shooting each other, well every country has that, but do we really care? They make that choice when they decide to become drug dealers.

And your charming note about protecting yourself - well sorry lady, but you do not have the right to be instant judge & jury for anybody and decide that they should have the death penalty there and then. Put yourself in the position of a victim - perhaps mistaken identity, or maybe you will save someone's life one day only to be mistaken as the perpertrator and end up dead on the spot.

I've been thinking about this today ( For obvious reasons) and yes, it is absoulety absurd to sell these toys of murder to anyone. They should strictly be licensened to cops and the military, NO EXCUSES. I'm sick of people saying it's my Constitutional right. The Second Ammendment was put into place for militia armies, not for personal use. So until we are invaded by China or Russia or the freaking Democratic Republic of the Congo, they should be illegal. Screw Mitt Romney and the NRA

  38. QUESTION:
Don't you think that Hatton and De La Hoya were the real cash cows when they fought Floyd?
Ricky Hatton was the true cash cow when he fought Floyd. Look what he said about Floyd:

"Floyd Mayweather said he gave Oscar De La Hoya his biggest pay day and that he gave me my biggest payday," said Hatton to the Manchester Evening News. "But we gave him his biggest paydays. He may be a wonderful fighter, but he still can't sell tickets."

    http://www.boxnews.com.ua/en/news/5673/2009-08-13/Ricky-Hatton-Floyd-Mayweather-Jr-Cant-Sell-Tickets

Oscar and Ricky made Floyd. They were the cash cows. When you watch both events, 90& of the fans in the arena were cheering for Hatton and De La Hoya. The entire fight, all you hear is the chant "Oscar' Oscar" or Ricky, Ricky" but no Floyd.

    • ANSWER:
De la Hoya is who made Floyd a star, there is no real debate about that. Prior to the Oscar fight, no one outside boxing really had any idea who Floyd Mayweather was. He had proven he couldn't carry a PPV on his own.

Oscar and HBO gave him the 24/7 platform, plus the golden touch of the Golden Boy - from that he was able to go on network TV, be asked to to WWF stuff, all that is from Oscar.

Isn't anyone at all curious why for about 15 years every fighter from 130 to 160 was dying to fight Oscar? Do you actually think its because they all wanted to prove they were "better" than him? No way - any fighter/promoter with a brain knew that if you fight Oscar you make more than you could in 5 fights combined, and if you beat him you are an immediate star.

Its why Oscar got to call all the shots - he got to pick any opponent he wanted. Say what you will about him, but he was probably the most powerful driving force in the sport for almost his entire career.

Hatton and Floyd both brought something to there fight as far as fans and public interest. Its still HBO that sells these things best - 24/7 means world class documentation and peaking casual sports fans interest. Floyd plays the villian, Hatton brings the UK with him, HBO presents it to millions of homes. That is what sold that, not Floyd or Hatton alone.

  39. QUESTION:
    Marriage: Money for NOTHING?
My kid is in love with a rich girl and plans to marry her someday. She's got some serious emotional problems that don't seem to bother him much (like extreme shyness, clinginess, controlling his every move, calling the shots on every decision, ranking on his friends and flipping out if he doesn't text her every hour--that's for starters).

Her parents ignore her and obviously want someone to marry her to take off the heat. He's "of age" so I have no say but feel he's throwing away his life on this chick for $$$! Should I just sit back and let him learn the hard way or step in and say "Here's what can...and probably WILL... happen?"

His dad's first wife was the same way and he tried talking to him, but it was a no go. Can a young adult REALLY be this dense? Can a parent REALLY watch their kid sell his soul for cash?! And it won't be a Freebie either; he'll have to play by ALL their "rules"!
Thanks, everyone, for the thoughtful replies! I can't give "Thumbs up or Down" yet but thanks. I will take your replies to heart. Yes. I remember what it was to be that age and have parents who objected to my "main squeeze", but we were Hippies! No money, no rules. I guess kids DO rebel...even against utter freedom...and for money. Sad.

  41. QUESTION:
If someone asks to pay you with a Cheque on Craigslist, is it probably fraud?
I'm selling a watch and I get an e-mail from someone that wants to buy it. I tell them paypal or cash is fine and to call me before coming to my house to pick it up. I told them if they wanted to pay with paypal, the transaction had to show up before the 20th, because I'm going on a trip.

They said, "OK.......Can you accept the means of Cheque so my client will be able
to send it to you before you go for your trip."

This doesn't seem right. I'm afraid that if I say I don't accept cheque (I thought it was pronounced "Check" o,O ) but if I do accept it, I could get scammed because the check bounces. What do you think? And who shops for their "clients" on craiglist?
I could offer them the choice to send me the check and see if the payment goes through and then allow them to have the item. I'm not sure if someone would go for that. They might think I'm the one trying to scam them then.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it's likely a fraud attempt. The real tip off is the use of the term "so my client will be able to send it to you". If they use the term "client", "agent" or "my shipper" or anything like that it should set off all kinds of alarms about this transaction. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, meet the buyer in a public place such as a restaurant, where there are people around. Don't have them come to your home if you can avoid it. Always get cash for the transaction. Never take a check or money order. The cheque spelling is from Europe or Canada. The "que" part is pronounced like "ck" so there's no real difference in the pronounciation of the word except for accent.

  42. QUESTION:
eBay help! Longest time for an item to be recieved internationally?
I frequently use eBay. I have a 100% feedback rating and have solved every problem on there quickly and considerately. In early December, I sold a watch on there for 0 to a guy from Canada. I shipped the item on 12/8/2009, but I didn't even ask for a delivery confirmation number b...ecause I typically don't do that. I got a message today saying that the guy still hasn't gotten it. So he filed a dispute with me on PayPal. The problem I'm having is that my checking account doesn't have nearly that much money in it at the moment because I'm between monthly paychecks and typically like to keep cash on me (and I spent alot of it, too). The dispute says they will subtract 0 out ASAP. I don't know what to do. There's certainly a chance the post office has just been slow with the item because of Christmas and everything, right? I'm trying to get him to drop the dispute at least for now, but what exactly do you guys think I should do?

    • ANSWER:
If you shipped the item to Canada from the U.S. and it was in a package, then you should have proof on the receipt you received from the post office that it was shipped, and it should be trackable by that info - you did fill out a customs slip, right ?? Hopefully you still have your receipt from the p.o. and that can be taken to the p.o. and they can track the package from there. As far as the paypal dispute, you can contact them at 1-888-221-1161 and ask how to input the info from the receipt to prove shipment. This should stop or at least pause the dispute. It usually takes several weeks for a dispute to be finalized so your paypal account will have a negative balance until then.

  45. QUESTION:
So I just watched a gamestop Employee try to sell a Go and UMD disks...?
So I just went to gamestop to look for a stanima psp battery for school. I walk in and an old lady (Seemed to be 60+) was inside talking to the gamestop employee about wanting to buy a PSP for her grandson.

She said she wanted a cheap psp and a couple of games. The gamestop employee kept telling her the PSP Go is so much better, and that shes wasting money if she gets a 3000 model. Then she pointed at the dissidia bundle and said something along the lines of "Well that has the game my grandson wants, so maybe I will take that." Then he continues to tell her about how much smaller the go is, lighter, more compact and more comfy for the user.

After much talking she finally fell into his pressure and agreed to buy the psp go. I didn't care at this point, i was just thinking her loss. Then the employee had the audacity to try and sell her the Dissidia UMD with it. Then I finally stepped in. Told her the Go is too much for what its offering. I flipped the go display case and showed her the sticker saying it doesn't play UMD's. I looked at the employee, and told him he should be fired for trying to sell her a UMD when it can't even be played with the go. He just stood there staring with a blank face. It was pitiful how he first talked her into buying the go, and THEN buying the dissidia UMD? I advised her to leave the gamestop immediately, go to the best buy next door and buy the dissidia bundle.

The old lady said "Thanks young man. It's a shame how people try to take advantage of the unknowing common folk. I thought I was actually getting a good deal." I gave the gamestop employee one last glare and repeated "I'm seriously coming back when your manager is in and reporting you." I doubt the manager will do anything. He's prolly gonna get a pat on the back for almost making a huge sell.

I don't hate gamestop at all. I love gamestop. I abuse the used game policy. 60 bucks has gotten me well over 200+ games. Buy, return within 7 days, pick up another used game, repeat until the gamestop has no more games I wanna play and then get all my cash back and move to another gamestop. I rarely keep games. Anyways, I love gamestop. I just HATE the employee's.

    • ANSWER:
      They must pay commision

Thats really dissapointing beacause the employee's at my local gamestop are so nice and try to be friends with all there commen customers(like me)
And they would never rip of customers or trick them like that

  46. QUESTION:
On a 50 inch Sanyo flat panel TV, would I be able to see a difference in picture between 720p and 1080p?
I will only be using this TV for watching HD movies. Walmart is selling a 720p Sanyo for Black Friday. Just wanted some thoughts on if it is worth it to pony up the cash for 1080p. Again, I will only be using this TV for watching HD movies. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
If by movies, you mean from a hi def DVD player, then you should go for 1080P. If you will be getting your movies from anywhere else, then no. The only exception would be if you intend to sit verry close to the screen. Go to a store and look at a 720P, 50" set from your normal viewing distance and look for the pixels. If you can't see them, then walk closer to the sey until you do. Then decide if 1080P is worth the extra money. If you plan on getting a hi def DVD in the future, then go for the 1080P.

  47. QUESTION:
    Britains Got Talent Fixed?
Right this may seem a bit far fetched but hear me out.

I think britains got talent may be rigged for a singer to win, because Simon Cowell can only really make cash from selling albums etc.

So watch how they are pushing the singers....one singer in each semi final, as opposed to 3 dance acts in one. Having one singer in each semi final gives the final more chance of having several singers in it...which means the overall odds of a singer winning are greater.

Just a thought i had....what do you guys think??

  50. QUESTION:
How many really believe that money is the root of all evil?
I've been agreeing with this lately. Sex sells and cash spends better than morals... why is this? I'm so tired of seeing women exploiting themselves just for some cash, it's ridiculous. Wouldn't you rather have an empty pocket but still have your pride?

Same goes for men with strip clubs and such. They're paying all this money to watch some girl take off her clothes, I think it's disgusting, there's no reason or excuse for it. Whatever happened to imagination?
*The LOVE of money is the root of all evil ... sorry guys.

How does watching a girl take off her clothes, or watching a couple have sex in a porno video make things better for society? It makes things more F*cked up then they already are. And you're a guy, so obviously you're gonna load me up with some bullshit excuse.

    • ANSWER:
The Bible says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. In other words, valuing financial gain ahead of life, love, loyalty, family, morals, ethics, etc has always been the source of much that is bad. Just look at the war in Iraq; waged for oil, money, and power, as well as all the rest of the crimes which are committed in hopes of financial gain. Sex is not the only thing being sold over the counter, but its one of the first commodities people thought of making a profit from. Unfortunately, it works.
