     Well I just don't have enough details on the piece to give you a clear answer. Generally if it you take it to a pawn broker you will just get weight value of it, which would be very little, whatever the price of gold is per ounce, probably around twenty dollars. They would melt it down to make other pieces.

     Now, if the necklace has some interesting features to it, or a story behind it, you can sell it to an interested buyer. You can try posting to ebay, keep in mind they only allow one free picture to be posted of the item, others you will have to pay for. It's all in the salesmanship.
     Does the necklace tell a story?
     Where did you get it?
     Who made it?
     How rare is this particular item?
     How old is it?
     You might perhaps be able to get what you paid for it with a good enough story. You might even pick up a cheap velvet jewelry case at a pawn shop or garage sale to add a finishing touch to your product.

     However, in these very tough economic times, you're mostly likely going to have to take a cut to get it off your hands. Go to Ebay and search for similar items. Put them on your watch list and see what they wind up selling for. You'll know about how much your item will get then.

     In the end though, the old economic saying still holds true: "something is worth what someone will give you for it." If you can convince someone that your item is unique, they will be willing to pay more for it.

     Take it to a jewelry store to be weighed. Most places should be able to give you an idea of it's value. I've heard that the places to send gold advertised on TV are scams. Try sending it direct to a gold refining company.

      There are many factors influencing the price of a diamond. Carat weight, color, clarity and the most important, cut.

      The secondhand market for diamonds is not strong. Even less for stones under 1.00ct ,(carat). Try and find out if the seller knows the color and clarity of the stone. Then go from there into a retail store to find out how much the stone and a setting sells for new. You can then pretty much gauge what you are willing to pay for it secondhand.

      Although you won't be able to tell if its well cut.

My suggestion is to keep the class ring because like most class rings, it probably not worth a lot in terms of money. Maybe you should try selling another piece of jewelry you have. My suggestion is that if you really want to sell it you should ask somebody who you trust and knows what they're doing so you don't get ripped off.

    When buying jewelry, white gold is higher priced than yellow gold. So, why isn't it worth more when selling it to be melted down into other jewelry? Why do these places that buy gold only look at the karet count of the gold, and not if it is white or yellow gold?

      White gold is actually yellow gold covered in rhodium plating. So it is more expensive to buy because it has a few extra steps along the way. The rhodium gives it the white appeareance. When you sell it back, they are melting it down and separating the metals so they only want to know how much actual gold is in the jewelry (karatage) and they want to separate it from the alloy metals.

You might want to sell it on your own before you accept their gold quote. Don't let them push you in to it. Tell them you need to think about and talk to your mom/friend/uncle or whoever to give you an excuse as to why you can't answer them right away. Then try to sell them on your own.

      yes. White gold has rhodium plating to give it the white color and is slightly less pure than yellow gold. Thus, yellow gold has a higher value that white gold because it has less impurities in it.

      Gold is priced in ounces so 19 grams = .67 ounces,
      The current price of gold is 8.9 per ounce

      So 75% of the .67 ounces of bracelets you have is .5 ounces of pure gold, so .5 x 628.9 = 4.45

      So the value of the gold in the bracelets is worth about 4.45, but the design of the bracelets will add or decrease the value, plus the price of gold changes just like stock prices change, so the value of the gold in your bracelects will continually change.

      Yes, a yellow gold ring could be plated with white gold. However, most white gold jewelry is plated with rhodium--a member of the platinum family--to achieve that shiny white finish we all so love in the jewelry store window. White gold is actually a grayish color.

      The plating process is simple and relatively inexpensive.

      However, the plating will wear off and you will need to replate the ring relatively often. Plating is considered a temporary finish for jewelry. Any spot that the rhodium plating is wearing off on a yellow gold ring will be very apparent because of the the color contrast.

      If you have your heart set on a particular style of ring in white gold and it is no longer being made because the company has gone out of business, I would find a jeweler who does custom work and would be willing to make the ring in white gold for you.

      So price of 18k gold = 75% from price of 24k gold
      18k gold cost ~ 75% * 6.80 = 5.1 per ounce

      I work for a major jewelery brand so I get this question a lot. I would say between and dollars. Check prices online for brand new earrings like that on clearance sites. That's a pretty fair price for used, which they are even if you never wore them.
