A large majority of people love to have diamonds, but sometimes the love for your diamonds fades. Sometimes you realize that you just need to get rid of them, or you find that you have to get rid of them. What, then, do you do? If you're like many people, the first thing that you do is to go to a jewelry store. It makes sense, after all, because jewelry stores use diamonds in their designs, so, of course, they need to have diamonds in order to sell their jewelry. But is selling your diamonds to a jewelry store really in your best interest?
Selling To a Jewelry Store
Selling your diamonds to a jewelry store is much like selling an antique item that you own to a pawn shop. Because the pawn shop has to make money, they pay you a much lower amount for your antique item so that they can earn their profits. If you were to sell the same item at auction, you will likely earn a great deal more money for the very same antique. When you sell your diamonds to a jewelry store, the jeweler is then going to either resell the diamond to someone else, or is going to use the diamond in a design and will then charge much more for the piece that they created. Because they plan on marking up the prices on your diamond, they want to pay you as little as possible for it, so that they can earn the most profit.
Other Options
You do not, however, have to sell your diamonds to a jewelry store. Rhett Stein Diamond Buyers is in the business of purchasing diamonds from people for around 5% more than a jewelry store would pay. But how can they go about paying so much more for the same diamond? It is because Harold Rhett Stein is not purchasing the diamonds to resell, but as investments. And because Rhett Stein Diamond Buyers has such a low overhead, they're able to offer more for your diamonds than jewelers, adding up to more money in your wallet.
If you're thinking about selling your diamonds, seek out a business like Rhett Stein Diamond Buyers, which can offer you immediate cash payments without any hassle, and you'll not only have a much easier time of selling the diamond, but you'll also be able to earn more money for it as well.

QUESTION:
need emergency cash selling diamond ring?
i need emerency cash i am celling my 10.03 ct REAL diamond ring.
the apprasil price is 5,600.
how much do you think i can get for it?
and were can i sell it?-
ANSWER:
Do not take your ring to a pawn shop. They will usually pay 1/10 to 1/5 of the value. If you need cash fast I would suggest someone who deals with estate jewelry. Estate jewelry is not necessarily older or antique jewelry, just jewelry that has been pre owned. You might also see about selling it on Craigslist, but if you do, agree to meet any potential buyer someplace safe in a public area, preferably a bank.
You could also see about selling it on consignment with a jeweler. Generally, when I have sold estate jewelry for a client I usually ask about half of the appraisal value, with the client getting 75% of the sale price.

QUESTION:
Should I Sell My Jewelry To Cash For Gold?
hi i have one loose diamond that i want to sell to cash for gold if any body has ever sold diamonds to cash for gold please let me no how much you got thanks-
ANSWER:
No, they're ripping people off by exploiting fears of a global economic meltdown. Keep your shinies for yourself. Or, if you really want to sell them, then sell them to a company that doesn't ask you to mail your goods to them before they'll pay you.

QUESTION:
If you owned diamonds would you sell them for cash or would you keep them?-
ANSWER:
In the situation i am now with the reduction of the 12-15% in my monthly payment check from January of 2010 and the 2 big loans i pay for my apartment and car i would definitely sell them but this is just me!
What i know for a fact is that either if i would sell them or keep them and insurance them in a bank, i would hire a lawyer who i trust 100% to fill all the contracts for me with the lowest possible share like 4% let's say Lol
Remember any lawyer from E.U. can do it as far as deal takes place in E.U.
God bless you and yours my man ! ( You can call me your slave if you want my man lol j/k)

QUESTION:
Is there a way to sell my old diamond jewelry for cash?
I live near philadelphia so anywhere around there. I have heard of pawn shops but I have never tried to do anything like this before. Even if I wanted to sell my jewelry over the internet, I would have no idea any information buyers might ask including the weight and carot.-
ANSWER:
Some jewellery shops will buy second hand jewellery - either to melt down/reuse if they also design, or to resell if the jewellery is in good condition.Your best bet is to go around and ask in different places as their offers will widely greatly. If they are thinking about buying then they will usually offer you a lot less than its cost value. It is defiantly worth looking around. (More expensive areas will often pay more money for good jewellery because they can sell it on for more).
Even if you do not get any good offers they might be able to give you any idea of the carat, etc.
I'm afraid my knowledge of pawn shops is non-existant however!

QUESTION:
Where can i sell my old gold/diamonds??
does anyone know where i can sell my old gold/diamonds for cash? preferably in brampton, ontario? if not, then missisauga or toronto as my last resort??-
ANSWER:
The Pawn shop! In all states they have one, if there isn't one in your state, that'd be weird. You can give them your gold/diamonds and they give you you're money and put it in their shop so other people can buy it! Also, you can give them anything else and they'll exchange it for money. For example, my local Pawn shop has everything from lawn mowers to TV sets to game systems! It's cool, but for most Pawn Shops, you have to be at least 18 to exchange your item for cash:P

QUESTION:
Are there any legit jewelery buyers online?
I have a gold and diamond ring I want to sell for cash. I want to take advantage of the currant gold prices.
I know that Kay Jewelers does not buy diamonds. Are there any bigger named jewelers like that that buy gold and diamonds?-
ANSWER:
Take your items to a local jeweler - not a chain, but a locally-owned, long-standing business. Many of them buy gold and gems and will give you a very fair price for your items.

QUESTION:
I want to buy something with a gift cert at a jeweler and sell it for cash. What should I buy?
Gold or a diamond? Plus where can I sell that item in the Boston area?
I can't sell the gift cert...that's my problem. it's like store credit. If I bought something what could I expect to get by reselling it? what percentage-
ANSWER:
I'd agree with kevin, it seems like it would be much less of a hassle to just sell the gift cert. Even if you bought something jewelry is heavily marked up so selling it will not bring in the full amount you paid for it, so why not take out that middle step and just sell the gift cert on ebay or craigslist for 10-15% off what the face value is.

QUESTION:
If I'm selling 4 white gold rings (3 of them with diamonds), do the jewelry stores buy them back by the ounce?
There is a local store that buys back gold, similar to the cash for gold company. I am just curious if they rings would be worth selling back. My grandmother could really use the extra money and I want to help in any way possible. Thanks.-
ANSWER:
I don’t know what cash4gold will pay. I do know from my past experience, that I sent them a scrap jewelry ring and they paid me .26. I rejected the offer and they returned my ring promptly. I then found another company, http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ that paid me 3 for the same ring!! and they enclosed a track able Fedex pack along with 0 insurance as opposed to some crappy envelope from cash4gold that you cant even track. I really got burned a couple of times using a couple of different cash for gold companies but with http://www.captaincashforgold.com/ I feel I finally found one that I could really trust with my valuables.

I don't want to sell them on internet, eg. Ebay... Does anyone know where I can sell them in Bath or Bristol area?If you have any suggestions that would be great, thanks!

ANSWER:
If you're looking for cash, try the original jewelry store that sold them, and DO NOT sell them the first time you're in the store...
Ask them how much they'd be willing to give you for them, and then say you'll check with a few other jewelers, and then HERE'S THE TRICK:
Actually check with other jewelers. They know that they can get a deal, and expect you to hand 'em over for a pittance. If they know that you'll go to other jewelers, then they'll give you a fair price. If you change your mind about selling them online:
You can sell your used diamond rings at a few websites geared for failed relationships...
http://www.brokenengagement.com specializes in used wedding bands and http://www.exboyfriendjewelry.com is a site I've seen on a talk show, I think...
Or you can be like MY ex, and just wear the same rings when the NEXT guy proposes.....

QUESTION:
What is the best way to sell nice jewelry as I would rather have the cash?
It is rings with gold and diamonds, necklaces, gold chains, etc. I am in no hurry and would like to get what I paid for it if possible.-
ANSWER:
It is highly unlikely that you would ever get back what you paid for jewellery - new jewellery will always sell for more than second hand jewellery, just like every other thing out there. The exception will be extremely high quality/rare gems and sometimes being made by a famous jewellery house will increase the reselling price. You may be best to find an "estate jeweller". These jewellers deal in second hand and vintage jewellery. They will be able to give you a price as to what they would take it for and you can decide if you want to sell it or not. Chains etc., that have no gems are often just sold for the gold value - so it will be weighed and a price per gram applied.
Otherwise, try and sell it privately, you could place an advertisement in your local paper or trading/selling journal perhaps?

QUESTION:
Lost and Found Jewelry?
Years ago I lost my engagement ring. We looked for months for it before even reporting the loss, and it took months (while continuing to look) for the insurance company to do the investigation. The insurance company eventually paid for the replacement and all was fine. Recently, I found the ring. I have moved twice (been divorced even) and found it in some random bag about to go to Good Will- I was looking for loose change, imagine my surprise. Anyway, now what?! Could I be in trouble for insurance fraud? I legitimately lost the ring and my heart sunk when I saw it. I'm afraid to put it up on ebay, or try to sell it for fear it could come back to bite me in the a$$. Is there a Statue of Limitations on a situation like this? I'm no longer with the same insurance company. What do I do? I would rather sell it and get the money, but am scared to.Please respond only if you have experience/knowledge of this situation. PS- the replacement diamond has already been sold for cash.
-
ANSWER:
I think legally the ring now belongs to the insurance company, but I wouldn't take my word for it, maybe you can get free legal advice from an attorney or call up the insurance company.Just under the impression if your car was stolen, if the car is found after you settle, the car would belong to the insurance company and you keep the settlement. So with my limited knowledge I would make the same assumption with the ring.

QUESTION:
I currently work for a jewelry manufacturer, but am anxiously wanting to start my own jewelry retail company.
Can anyone from NY direct me to jewelry manufacturers who sell diamond gold, platinum jewelry to independant jewelry companies, jewelers, (small scale non retail chain)? Preferably Zales and Sterling standard merchandise. Cash up front.-
ANSWER:
http://www.ninci.comis a jewelry manufacturer from Thailand. They carry, diamond and gemstone jewelry all 100% natural and in different gold colors purity. It is always wise to source your jewelry from asian countries as they are pretty cheap due to low labor cost.
And from ninci.com, you can buy whatever quantity you want. There is no minimum order quantity is needed. The prices are well below the wholesale rates, so you will have a good resale value for all the items.

QUESTION:
I am selling a diamond, does the potential buyer sound like a scammer?
I am selling a diamond and I put the ad on a local classified site that is run by oodle.com. I was contacted by a guy that is interested in buying it, but it seems a little weird. His english seems terrible, and some parts of the email do not make sense. He wants me to give him my address and name so he can send me a check and then make arrangements for his "mover" to come pick up the ring. Does this sound like a scam? I've heard that a lot of scams can be obvious by the persons english and grammar. Here is part of the email he sent me:Hello, Thanks for your swift response toward the inquiry about the item as stated by you, am really pleased, i would have come over to your location to view the item but i wont be able to come at the moment due to the nature of my work as present.I will like you to know that i am okay with the price and i will make the payment sendto you via check which will clear to your account in one working days.As for the pick up,i will know how to handle that with my mover that as been helping me to move in my belongings into our home, the Mover will come for the pick up once the check has been cashed
I just googled his name and email address, and I saw it is a scam. I'm glad I research these things! I ignored his message, as soon as I saw it, I knew it was tooooo weird-

what i found due to trial and error is to put them on Ebay. I bought a variety of games back to the GAME store, and didnt get a lot for them. I started selling them on ebay and got some great bids. So ive been selling them on Ebay ever since. You certainly could try bringing them to the GAME store and enquire what they would give you and if your not happy sell them on Ebay.

QUESTION:
How can I get the most cash for this jewelery?
I have a diamond necklace. The other day, I stopped by a fancy jewelery store, and the man inspected it and told me it is worth 0-500, but they did not want to buy it. I figure if I take it to a pawn shop I will not get the most cash for it as I may elsewhere. I was thinking about the possibility of an appraisal so that I could sell it on ebay, but I am not familiar with anywhere to do that. Any suggestions Yahoo? Thanks-
ANSWER:
Ebay is always an option, but it could all go horribly wrong. Try just looking up all your local jewelery dealers and giving them a call and see what they say.

QUESTION:
has anyone read this news item.?
Immigrants are being offered cash cards by a Labour donor hoping to profit from a rush by workers to transfer billions of pounds out of the UK.Iranian-born Ali Sarikhani, a friend of Tessa Jowell's husband David Mills, has set up the Tuxedo Blue Diamond card for people without bank accounts who have money to send abroad to friends or family.
Cash 'loaded' on to the cards will be accessible to duplicate cardholders in 900 locations across 100 countries worldwide.
But the launch of the scheme raises fresh doubts over the Government's claims that immigration boosts the country's gross domestic product by £4billion a year.
An annual £5.6billion worth of funds is transferred by immigrants out of the country, according to figures provided by the Department For International Development.
Andrew Green, of MigrationWatch UK, said: "The main beneficiaries are the immigrants, who are able to send home about £10million a day, not the host nation. It is a loss when that money leaves and we have to buy foreign capital to make it up. Freedom of movement of capital is right and proper but it is a loss that is often overlooked."
The new cards will be sold on buses and even ferries as migrants enter the country looking for work. Tuxedo is investing £5.1million in the scheme, advertising across a range of ethnic TV channels and in publications across Asia and Eastern Europe as it targets the lucrative immigrant market.
Migrants will be able to load their cards with up to £2,500 and then pay bills with the card, withdraw cash, send up to £200 a day abroad or order duplicate cards to be used for withdrawals by friends and family from cash machines abroad.
To set up a Tuxedo card, a UK-based customer need only provide a photocopy of a passport of any nationality. No bank account or credit check is required.
Mr Sarikhani and his fellow directors hope to make money by selling the cash cards for £9.95 and charging up to £1.50 in the UK for cash machine withdrawals and £2.25 abroad. Purchases with the card have a 2.95 per cent fee.
The 61-year-old businessman is a non-executive chairman of Tuxedo Money Solutions and donated £10,000 to Labour in 2001. A trained chartered accountant, he made his fortune in tax consultancy.
He and Tuxedo's chief executive officer, Andre Bischoff, were also involved in a successful buyout of Alpha Telecom, which has a lucrative share in the pre-paid telephone market favoured by immigrant workers in the UK.
Mr Sarikhani became a British citizen at the age of 23 and lives in a mansion close to Hampstead Heath in North London.
He became friends with Mr Mills when his company Edasco acquired CMM Corporate Services which was then run by the Culture Secretary's husband.
-
ANSWER:
Well if this is now the case - as your question suggest ...I then ask if the money is being sent abroad for families etc., are they cross checking to see that it has been declared and earned legally. Far too much money is being allowed to leave our country playing a big cost to our economy as is also jobs that are being posted abroad - whilst there are perfectly good people here to do such jobs. Make this point to your MP as many as possible is the only way to stem such a profiteering racket.

Boyfriend gives girl a diamond necklace, she sells it, and breaks up with him. Is this wrong?
My friend tried to break up with her boyfriend. The next day, he knocked on her front door and gave her a diamond pendant from Tiffany's and convinced her to stay with him. She did for the time being, but immediately sold the necklace and then gave him the boot again - permanently. She used the cash to buy a BMW.It's not like the necklace was given to her under the condition that she'd stay with him, so technically, what she did is still legal.
Is this right? Wrong? Opinions.

QUESTION:
Can I sell a loose diamond for its appraised value?
Can I sell a loose diamond for its appraised value? Or its purchase price? If so, where and/or how? Because I just bought a diamond from a place where I can't return it and I found a better diamond that I like much better. I'm trying to find an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I sent it to "Cash for Diamonds USA" but they gave me a check for WAY less than what I bought it for. I still have time to get my diamond back from them. Please help me!
-
ANSWER:
Most likely you cannot. The resale market for diamonds is not going to get you what you paid for this diamond. Always check the return policy BEFORE you buy the diamond. That is really shame that you cannot return the diamond – is it a special cut? Is it certified? Which certification does it hold? This will determine where you might try to resell the diamond. ‘Cash for Diamonds USA’ will probably not give you a premium value for the diamond. You may want to try Ebay or Craigslist or http://www.diamondbistro.com. These other avenues may give you a higher price.Good luck!

QUESTION:
My girlfriend found a diamond ring and no one has claimed it. We really need the cash for it, what do we do?
My girlfriend found a diamond ring set at her work. She is a dancer at a club and it is diamond engagement ring with a big stone and a 18k platinum band. There is also a 14k platinum band laced with smaller stones and it appears to be in a set with the big stone ring. It appears to be worth ALOT of money. Anyways, she showed in to the manager and she put up a poster and no one has claimed it and it has been months now. We feel bad that some one lost something so precious but we have fallen into hard times and really need the cash for it. I am sure a pawn shop will rip us off and I have not sold much on Ebay so I am afraid no body will buy it from me because we would be charging alot for it. If we took it to a jeweler would they expect papers for it? I do not want them to think we stole it. Can rings this valuable be laser marked or something to find the owner. What is the best way to get cash fast for this ring set? Thank you.-
ANSWER:
The police may be the right thing to do. Essentially for the owner of the ring to make an insurance claim, they would need to provide proof that a police report was filed, so chances are the police may already have something on file. I wouldn't sell it on eBay or any other site because those sites have the ability to request proof of purchase for the item to proove that its yours. You may even consider putting an ad in the paper as well in the "Lost and Found" section. Once you are able to find the owners, they may thank you with some sort of reward for your troubles.I hope this helps!

QUESTION:
Old ring from the 30's or 40's and what it's worth?
I have my great grandmothers engagement ring. It is estimated to be from the 30's to 40's based on the style. It's 14 k gold and has 7 small diamonds with 1 more diamond slightly bigger in the middle of it. How pure was the gold back then? I'm worried about going to a cash for gold place and not getting what it's worth and if anyone could estimate the worth. And will I also be able to sell the diamonds there? I just don't want to get ripped off.-
ANSWER:
Based on the current spot price for scrap gold, 14 k gold is worth about per gram. So if it weighs 20 grams, its worth about 0. You'll get less than that at a pawn shop, however. hope this helps, mule.

QUESTION:
Where or how do robbers/thieves sell their items?
now i always wonder, when people steal money, well they can simply go off with the cash, transfer it to an offshore bank, move to a different country and enjoy themselves. but where or how do people sell things like stolen jewelry, paintings, bank notes, etc? i mean to robbers, a diamond is worthless to them, after all they're looking for the cash, so where do they sell them or how do they actually get to sell them?-
ANSWER:
Pawnshops, and then there's the wholesale black market, some thieves have even gotten away with selling art to well known museums and prominent dealers. And to be honest, you average everyday "robber" is of a totally different variety than a thief who is planning a major heist. But even to a regular mugger or petty thief a diamond wouldn't be worthless...I mean, there's thousands of ways to sell one off with fake papers, online, I mean if you rob someone and steal their plasma tv, computer etc..you can sell that off easy, and fetching a good prince isnt usually a concern. I've seen stuff like that sold for like .

I dreamed of my ex fiance and the engagement ring?
So my ex fiance and I broke up a while ago, we dated for 4 years. And apparently the engagement ring that he got me was stolen. And Noo, I didn't lose it, I know for a fact that it was stolen. Anyways he doesn't know about the ring because he never asked for it back. So it's been quite a while now that we've been broken up and I've been having dreams about him and I getting back and things being good. And then lastnite for the first time I had a dream about my ex fiance again but this time the ring that was lost in real life, I got it back! In the dream my ex fiance wanted to work things out with me and then later on in the dream someone who took the ring gave it back to me, and the funny thing was that when the ring was given back to me the diamond was missing?? And on top of that they handed me cash also?? So apparently the person who took the ring must of taken the diamond out and sold it. Otherwise they wouldn't had given me the ring without the diamond and cash also! Idk,.. what does this mean???-

That was Sunday at 3:00 am I looked all around & did not find anything.
So on Monday I called my mom she was in the same state

QUESTION:
how to purchase/finance an engagement ring and create a budget?
I am 25 year old male looking to purchase a engagement ring for my current G/F of 3 years. I am not sure how much to spend, where to buy internet/store, to pay cash or finace, and last insurancew. i have about 5k saved up so far. i make about 50 - 55k a year. I want a 2ct diamond. I have stock availiable to sell and bring my cash value up about another 3k. what should i do and what kind of finance should i expect to get. Is 12-16k a good price range for me?-
ANSWER:
That sounds like a lot of money based on your salary. You definitely don’t want to overdue it as you will have additional expenses to think about. You should be able to go to the internet and get the biggest bang for your buck. Try a website http://www.pricescope.com as they have consumers in your same shoes and you should be able to ask them questions to lead you to the right e-tailer. Many e-tailers too offer 30 day return policy and allow you to upgrade your diamond down the road if you want to get something bigger for a 3rd or 4rth year anniversary. I found my ring at Whiteflash but I wouldn’t have found them had I not gone to Pricescope.Good Luck!

QUESTION:
I won a competition, now am looking for the best way to sell the giftvoucher?
Where can I best sell a " competition win" jewellers voucher for ring, & diamond in Australia ?I don`t wear jewellery and know jewellers have a huge markup, as well as no cash option.
Where would it be best to advertise to " sell the voucher" less say 10% - 15 % or so.
Am cashstrapped and really would prefer the money instead of having something " designed" for me that I want to sell anyways.
Am grateful for any serious suggestion
I don`t think ebay is the right place as there are no optional reserve.
The voucher itself is for almost as much as half a small car ( used)-
ANSWER:
Hi, you can sell it on ebay. Thats where i sell my things. Start the bidding low and see how it goes. Or you can state a price you want for it as the minimum bid and then see how you go.If no one buys it, then try again for a lesser amount. Maybe 20% less would be reasonable. Up to you.
Hope this helps.

ANSWER:
i could not visit your facebook. but i suggest you show the jeweler where u bought the pc. maybe they can buy it back.there is one good news for u: the gold price is increase a lot comparing to feb, 2009! meanwhile, the price you bought at that time should be very cheap. it is economical crsis period. so i do not think u will lose money on that. on the other hand, u could gain money on top of that!
