      1) buy gold coins/bars as you mentioned, trouble is a) the mark-up on coins can be high (or premium of up to 15%-ish), depending on the types of gold coins -- South African Kruggerand or US Eagles, b) buying and selling them is a little impractical (imagine taking them in and out of bank safety deposit boxes everytime you want to buy/sell) and expensive (dealers charge commission buying and selling). c) You have to consider insuring them too if you decided to hide them under your mattress at home.

      2) Buy gold ETFs, essentially investments backed by gold for a management fee like mutual funds. It eliminates the physical impracticality mentioned above but it sure loses the allure of being able to hold your investments physically in your hands.

      Why don't do a bit of both, put the bulk in ETF investments and collect gold coins/bars from different sovereigns on the side?

      Don't ever buy gold jewellery as investments (you lose money the moment you buy them). Also, read up about where gold price is likely to head in 2007.

      Also, look into some private jewelry stores. Sometimes they do consignment for a percentage and you could maximize your dollar out of that.

      First of all, Blizzard doesn't sell gold. Secondly, I would suggest just leveling more instead of trying to get gold at that low level. When you get to higher levels you get tons more gold for completing quests, and the mobs drop a lot better loot, and more gold; for example, above level 60 you usually get over 10gold per quest. I am not really sure which is better between herbalism and skinning, as it depends slightly on the server, but herbalism is usually better since fewer people have it.
      Anyways, good luck with it, and personally I wouldn't worry about gold until you're much higher level.

      Be a bit excited about your product.
      Tell them this is one of the best cards they can get. No interest for six months!, and 10% off everything you purchase today!(if that's what you offer) It won't hurt to fill out the application, and when you're approved you can use the Sears card at any store! (it's a master card, right?)

      If they can get some free gift, show it to them.

      If they are even looking like they're listening, then don't stop talking. Ask them if they have any questions about the card, ask them if they'd like t save that 10% today, hand them the app. Put it in front of them.

      The more you are excited about what you sell and the more you know and convey to the customer about it, the more apps you'll get. Make it a priority to ask every single customer.

      Any flat or wide conical surface over a foot wide should do. Preferably dark green in colour for a good contrast. The trick in panning is not the right tool but the skill with which it is handled. A proper understanding of the theory bahind panning would help.
      Panning is a process of gravity seperation. Gold is a very heavy metal (19.3g/cc), common soil grains are much lighter, (about 2.6g.cc).
      The rotary movement of panning essentially creates a centrifuge wherein the lighter particles slowly move up and out towards the periphery of the pan and the heavier concentrate stays near the center. Gold being the heaviest of all is closest to the center.
      Essential idea is slowly and steady movements and plenty of patience.

      Gold is currently very easy to buy as a traded index fund under the symbol GLD. Here is my take. I do believe that inflation is going to be an extremely great concern. The government in fact is attempting to increase inflation to stabilize the house market. They were not satisfied with the last housing bubble they created. They want to create another. They figure that inflation should create a lasting housing bubble for them. GLD is relatively cost free. The expense ratio is 0.4%, less than many mutual funds although there is no income when investing in gold. Also the tax consequences are more severe. It is considered and taxed as a collectible. One of those idiotic IRS rulings So is silver. If you are wanting to invest some money in GLD the place to do so is within a Roth IRA account since nothing within that account is taxable.

      I hope that I am wrong about inflation, but if I am not then gold is going to be increasing even more than it has already increased.

      Don't worry about money unless it's for bags or a mount. Herbalism is a great way to make money, but doing so will dramatically slow down your leveling progress (since gathering herbs is really slow until you get at least an epic land mount at level 60+).

      As for leveling, at 33, you should be doing finishing up Stranglethorn Vale. Around 36 or so, the marsh outside Menethil Harbor is good, and around 41, Tanaris is great.

      Basically, these books just tell you what to farm and to buy things for low prices on the AH and resell them at higher prices.

      If you want to make a good chunk of change at 55 (assuming that you don't want to mine ore to sell for gold), you can farm runecloth. Runecloth sells well because people need to turn it in to get rep, so you can usually get a lot of cloth running through instances and then sell them for several g per stack.

      Another great way to make gold is to utilize the Neutral Auction House (like the one in Booty Bay). Buy up a bag's worth of your faction cities' non-combatant pets, then sell them one at a time on the NAH. You pay about 50s for each of them, and they usually sell (in my experience) for about 10g each. That is an enormous profit margin for very little work. Any vendor recipes that are specific to your faction will also sell well on the NAH.

      Since you're 55, I also wouldn't worry too much about it right now. Focus on hitting 58, then you can goto Outland. Compared to what you're used to, you'll be making money hand over fist there! You will also get more green drops that you can sell on the AH for several g each there.

      The previous answerer was right that you make a lot of gold doing dailies at 80, but that's a ways off for you, so right now I would use the Neutral Auction House like I described above, keep mining while questing, and work on getting to Outland so you can increase your quest reward amount, etc. Good luck!

    I've designed my own little gold guide for WoW, it was initially just a reply to someone's question, but i thought i may as well share it here with all you people. Please star if you think this is a good little guide. I hope this helps anyone who needs help making gold.

    Okay, this is a big question that everyone wants to know. And i've found the best way to get money is to pick up mining/herb and skinning.

    So, get yourself either mining or herbalism. These professions are great! As your playing you will find plants/nodes to pick/mine or you can go on a big hunt for them over the course of a day. Sell all the herbs you pick/ore you mine and smelt on the auction house... A tip for selling, check what everyone else is selling the same thing for and sell for a little bit less than the lowest one.

    e.g. > Here's a example list of people selling saronite
    1 > 20 for 50g
    2 > 20 for 50g
    3 > 20 for 45g
    4 > 20 for 47g
    5 > 20 for 44g

    You would want to sell a stack of 20 for 40-43g, this way you know it's going to sell, and your still getting nearly just as much money as everyone else. If you put your stuff on the auction house at top dollar, everyone's going to buy other people's stuff instead of yours. So keep your prices low, but not too low!

    With mining, always sell your stuff as bars (smelt from ore) as they will sell a lot better, the only people that buy ore are miners that can't be bothered going out and mining the stuff and they want to level from smelting instead, and not many people do that. Besides, bars are more useful to more people.

    Also pick up skinning as your second profession. The reason being is sure Herb and mining are the 2 best money making profs in the game, however, you can only track one at a time. If you get mining/skinning or herb/skinning then you can kill things, loot them (potentially get greens/blues from them and sell more stuff) and skin them. You will still be getting money, but a lot easier.

    Another way to get gold in WoW is buying and reselling things on the Auction House. Doing things such as buying blue/epic items that people are selling way too low, and resell them for a more normal price. I've made hundreds of gold this way!

    If you really want to make some dough, just look on the auction house and find the things that people are selling for the most gold. Track them down with thottbot.com and go and farm for those things, then resell them on the auction house.

    Another good way (if your level 80) is to do daily quests, they give you around 20g a quest and you can do up to 25 in a day. If you do all of them, then 25x20=500g. You could make 500g a day from doing simple and easy daily quests.

      Do the daily quests. The argent tournament in icecrown gives like 10 or so, once you can do the champion quests. They each pay about 13g, however with the 4 champion quests, you can get a pouch of gold as the quest reward which is an additional 10 for each of those 4. That's 170g easy. Then move on to the sons of hodir, which you should be working on for rep if you aren't already exalted. They give 6 or so that pay around 13g each. That's another 78-80g, puts you around 250g in no time. Then move on. It takes a few weeks at this pace but its pretty easy. Now, if you have a gathering profession, you can gather and sell mats in the AH. Or, if you have a crafting profession, you can produce and sell those items in the AH. My main is an engineer, so I make most of my money selling the arrow maker and bullet machines.

      Make sure they pay in troy ounces not penny weight, as that is one way for them to rip you off.

      Also, make sure to get multiple quotes(different dealers), as you don't really know what a good deal is for your gold.

      Gold is a good conductor (be it a cd or record) i personally wouldn't play a gold record because i feel it's more for looks. Metallica re-released the ep Creeping Death on a gold record.
      And the chinese have been counterfeiting gold records for the last couple years simply by painting 45's with gold paint and selling them on ebay. A real gold record would have a good sound quality but like a picture disc its something you would want to have framed.

      you would be much safer putting surgical steel jewelry in your body, especially in such a sensitive area.
      pretty much any piercing studio will sell them to you, and if they don't have the specific one you want, they'll order one for you (if they're reputable; don't go to some shady place and expect good service).
      don't buy body jewelry at the mall! it isn't sanitized properly and a lot of the time, they'll sell alloys and say they're surgical or stainless steel.
      as for how to hide it, i think the clear acrylic balls are a good idea (and easier on the teeth, good thinking:) ). usually people won't be looking that intently at your tongue while you're talking.

      opt for a brown or gold, something with an orange undertone for eyeliner. i have blue grey eyes to and orangish brings them out the most. don't do pink or purple or grey or silver. use a blush two tones darker than your skin. use plain chap stick or lip gloss. black mascara. don't bother buying new stuff. just use what you got. although you might want to buy a new eye shadow if yours don't look good.

    Is there anyway to tell if a piece of jewlery is real Gold or silver vs gold/silver plated or some other cheap metal (besides going to the jewlery store)? I'm selling a few bracelets/necklaces on Ebay that I don't really wear and don't want dissatisfied customers. I'll give you the run down on some of the stuff:
    1. A silver-looking punk-type bracelet from Hot topic with the balls (wore it forever, still has no tarnish)
    2. A Tiffany style bracelet with a lock instead of a heart but same sort of design. The lock is from a diary, however I believe the bracelet is real (again worn all the time, no tarnish)
    3. A gold-looking bracelet with Egyptian charms from a specialty store at an outlet mall (worn once, so tarnish isn't visible)
    4. A Baseball charm bracelet, which appears to be silver. Was worn constantly, no tarnish

    If anyone has an idea how to check for types of metals, please let me know, or any tips for cleaning these peices. Thanks!

      Working the auction house to your adavantage is the best way to increase gold in WOW.
      To check the going prices of something specific, open the auction screen and the pack where the item you're checking out is stored.
      Hold the shift key and left click on the item, and a list of all the items like it are shown. Price your items accordingly. I price my items to sell, undercutting the lowest asking prices.
      Ore vs. bars? check each and see what they are going for. There are players looking to buy raw materials so gain points in their professions. For instance, raw wool is likely to get more for you than bandages, because a player may want to buy it and make their own to increase their first aid skills.
      Keep your Blacksmithing skill up. When you learn a new item, make them until it stops gaining automatic advances to your Blacksmithing skill. Sell them at auction, never to vendors. Check the going rate, and price them to sell.
      Say you craft some mail gloves. You check for the going price of them using the method described, but it's not there. Reset the search button on the auction screen. Click Armor, then Mail, Then Hands. In the level range option on top enter a level two or three above the level of the gloves you're going to sell. look at the results for items at or near the level of your gloves. When comparing the prices, keep in mind the usefulness of the item for the class. Mail Gloves that give bonus to Intellect aren't very useful for the classes that are able to use Mail items.
      Herbalism is the most profitable profession these days. Consider creating an Herbalist who's main function is to grind. Gather Herbs, sell them at auction, mail the profits to your warrior. My lvl 40 priest has earned over 1100 gold, at an average of 5 gold per day, and has subsidised the latest gear for himself, my warrior and my paladin.

      When soloing, get a two handed weapon that deals higher damage per second. Less time fighting, more time mining. Keep your one handed weapon and your shield for parties with your guild. They can best advise you how to spend your talent points to play the most effective role as a Tank for the group.

    When to come up with a business name and other small business tips, please?
    My ultimate goal is to open a successful jewelry/jewelry repair shop. I don't have money or the 'know how' to get started but I've educated myself quite a bit. I have a plan to reach my ending goal. It will take time but I'm positive I can do it.

    1) First I want to get started finding merchandise at thrift stores or flea markets and selling them online. This will teach me how to keep track of income, build my skill in financing, and I can start a website. With the extra money I gain will start step two, jewelry making.

    2) Making beaded jewelry or wire jewelry I can build my creativity for different styles. This will also help me determine if my ending goal is only a phase or hobby to look forward to rather than an actual goal that will end up as my career. After some time doing this I would have also build up an inventory for my next step, setting up shop.

    3) Now I can really get to practice! I plan on setting up a stand or small table at the local flea market. If I decide to reach this step it will be the most helpful to my ending goal. I will learn the basics of running an actual business, keeping up with inventory, calculating profit from income vs expenses and loss, and organization. This extra money will help me buy the tools I'll need for making and buying fine jewelry such as gold, silver, and gemstones.

    4) Actually going through the process of opening and running an actual business. With the previous steps I would be saving as much money as I can to buy or start renting a shop for my store.

    My question is when would be a good time to start advertising the name of my shop? I already have a name in mind, but it still needs work.

      Are you selling the snapdragon bouquets by any chance? Some Snapdragons give off a foul-smelling green odor and will cause your customers to vacate the store, while the correct Snapdragons give off a pink odor and cause a little trail of pink flowers to appear by the Sims that are near.
      Otherwise set your prices very cheap until your business rank increases and you have a loyal customer base. You HAVE set your bouquets for sale, right? :)

      If you knew when gold was going to go up or down ahead of time, you would be smarter than anyone else because like anything else it is difficult to predict. Generally, the three factors that affect gold prices are: (1) general commodity prices, (2) the US Dollar's strength and (3) inflation, or the perceived threat of inflation. At this moment, these factors are sort of offsetting each other and keeping gold within a range at about ,100 (give or take). If you are a "gold bug" your belief would be that all the crazy spending the Feds are doing right now will generate inflation and the price of gold will skyrocket.

      One thing gold is not is a hedge against worldwide economic problems. Why? Because the US Dollar is still considered a "safe haven" so when countries like Greece have problems, instead of gold going up in price, the increase in value of the US Dollar keeps gold prices from increasing.

      I strongly suggest that you do not own the physical metal. By the time you have shipping and commissions and all of that, it is difficult to make money. Also, you have to store it someplace. I own a Gold ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) with the symbol GLD. They actually own gold, so the stock tracks gold pretty closely. It is more liquid, you can buy or sell it like a stock in a matter of seconds. Plus it is 1 per share now, so you don't have to deal in 00 increments. Check it out, it really is the best way to invest in gold.

      They are probably hand tied fly fishing flies. I would guess they are of relativly low value because so many people can make these. I guess it would depend on how old they but sorry i would guess they are not worth much. Take them to a pawn shop and just see.. Who knows what they would offer.

      You could also try putting them in a frame ( like a small Picture frame) and sell them that way. It would add value as a decoration.

      While 10g is quite a bit an hour, I'm pretty sure its very tricky to get that much in just one hour.
      You didn't mention your level, so I'm going to have to be very vague for this :/
      If you're still in azeroath and about level 40, most classes are able to run deadmines and stockades (or the instance in org. instead of stocks, I can't remember its name right now >.<)
      If you get any BoE blues on these runs, you can sell them on the auction house, twinks love them. Anything else, you can just vendor, cloth doesn't sell like it used to :(
      Make sure while farming to loot EVERYTHING to sell it :)

      If your 60, most classes can farm scarlet monestary, uldaman, razenfen, etc (basically, every instance but 55+ ones) There are even some 60s who can handle sunken temple. Again, same deal as farming deadmines.

      If there's a demand for something on your server, let's use thorium for an example. You can run around the eastern plaguelands, azshara, and silithus (etc) and mine thorium to sell on the AH. Be sure to see if your gathering profession has a demand. And if your an enchanter, you can DE higher leveled items, on my server, large brilliant shards, greater eternal essences, etc and up are selling for insane amounts.

      Now, if your able to do things in the outlands, you can also just farm mobs and loot everything, grey items out there can sell for 5g (depending) and in some cases, greens you get can be a desirable piece of gear and you can AH it as well.

    Lets start off with I was a truck driver . I was working full time and paying all my bills. I got hours cut back. So i was making about half of what i was. Then i had gotten taken off of driving because there was nothing to ship. So i was put on the dock and took a 5 dollar pay cut for every hour i worked. Then i went from working 30 hours a week to barely working 15. So by the time i was completely laid off my unemployment was not even close to what i was making in the first place.

    So now i am a year behind on all my bills except for the ones that matter aka a roof over my head ( i rent a room in my parents house) and food and cloths for my son and anything else he needs. I am now making barely any money since trucking no one is really hiring.

    So what do you think my chances are with the filing going through for my favor. I really have nothing I sold all my gold I have a car that is almost 20 years old. I really am dirt poor right now. I have around 15000 dollars in credit card debt and 3000 in a student loan.

    How long does it take from start to finish with bankruptcy?
    How do i make sure it goes in my favor if anything?
    Am i an ideal case for it to go through?

      I would hold off for a long as possible...

      To be honest 18k is not that much to discharge(It's actually 15k since student loans are not dischargable)...You're going through tough times...If the banks are sucker enough to give you more credit...Run it up as much as you can so you get the maximum benefits for bankruptcy...The reason I say this is because even if you clear your debts, is your income equal to your outlays? If it isn't, after clearing your debts, you're still in deficit with extreme difficulty borrowing...Then all you have is a reprieve not a clean slate that bankruptcy should be giving you.

      Tactically, you want to declare bankruptcy just before things start getting better.

      And lastly I believe you qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

    I am a senior girl scout going for my gold. I have bronze and silver and I want this one to go with a bang. The bronze we did something with the buddy shelter, for our silver we did a fashion show against abuse. Both were lots of fun, but for this one I need plenty of service hours and for most of my service hours I want to help my elementary school. So I need an idea that can be run by a student (I am a very good organizer and leader in this sort of thing so difficult is fine), I don't need a sponser, I don't want to sell anything. I just want a fundraiser that the products needed can be homemade and bring in lots of money so I can split the money with the school. As this is a girl scout thing there is something written about not being able to work for someone, but its okay to donate a sum after the event is over.     Okay. So I live in Canada, and I bought a pre-paid Gaia card when I was in Florida for Christmas break, because they don't sell pre-paid cards in Canada. I should of got the but didn't have enough money on me at the time. Well, I've used up basically all my Gaia Cash, so I have to start making gold. I play all the games until they don't give gold anymore, I do forum posts until I only start getting like 1-2 gold a post, I write on people's profiles, I rate fan art until I don't get any gold. Is there others ways to make gold? I don't really want to invest in the collectible items or other rare items. Could someone tell me how to make some gold :P .

    Hell, if you want to even donate some gold I wouldn't mind haha :P
    I'm on a quest on Gaia to get two items:

    ~ Red Pimpin' Hat = 15000 Gold
    ~ Dark Cape = 15550 Gold

    So could someone give me some tips on how to make some cash, or even donate a bit, I already posted my quest in my guild and the Charity/Quest Forum but no one has answered in 4 days since its been up, most likely because it hasn't been bumped.

      I earned money in gaia by fishing to start you up. Always buy f-bait then sell your fish, buy more bait and keep going. Then you can start investing in collectibles.
