     Please do not sell your gold to a website. They will pay you the least. First of all what type of jewelry do you have? 18 Ct gold or 22 Ct gold? If it is 18 ct please go to any pawn shop. If it is 22 ct or 24 ct, go to a Indian Jewelry store in you city and look at the display price for the raw gold. You should be able to sell it for almost the price they advertise selling.

     I think it is profitable to sell your gold online.

     Generally you're not dealing with an unknown person if you sell it to a reputable company or website. Many people would not get success in selling the gold.      You can not sell your gold directly to a refiner unless you are a jewelry or dealer and have proper licences. I am a refiner who buys from jewelers and dealers as well as the public. I do not pay the public as much as jewelers and dealers for these two reasons.

     1) When buying from the public the law states that I must hold all items for 15 days before selling/melting them. In those 15 days gold, or silver has the potential to drop ALOT! Additionally, my money gets tied up for 15 days when buying from the public. When I buy gold or silver from dealers or jewelers I can melt it that same day, thus there is no risk of losing profit from gold or silver dropping since it is melted the same day it is bought.

     2) Unless you have a large amount of gold or silver it isn't profitable for us to buy from you. We don't mind making .25 cents profit per gram if you have 1,000 grams of gold but it doesn't pay to make 25 cents profit per gram if you are selling 100 grams of gold. That is only profit from laying out 00. There are expenses and lots of them, most people don't realize it's a business and we need to make money too.

     On the other hand there are plenty of places ripping people off. With gold at 3 per ounce you should take no less than a gram for 10k, a gram for 14k and a gram for 18k.

     You certainly could attempt to sell the items to a jeweler and reap some cash back on that transaction. However, I think it would be nice to have the gold melted down and fashioned into a new piece for yourself.. perhaps a nugget charm or a nice signet ring. Depending on what you are having melted, the jeweler can tell you what can be created. Also, since you are providing the gold, the cost of fashioning a new item should be minimal. Be aware though, you should take it to an upstanding jeweler.. perhaps one that your family has used for sometime.

6. QUESTION:
   when you sell unwanted gold jewelry, how much do they pay you. Gold is at ,208 per ounce?
   How close do they pay for instance if you sell then an ounce of unwanted gold jewelry.

   • ANSWER:
     You are looking at the price at which it is traded - that is raw, unprocessed without factoring in the labour price, shipping, import, export and all the other costs associated with making jewellery. Also, in time, gold wears off and it will lose some of its weight. Having said that, you most likely will not receive 1,208 per ounce if you were to take your jewellery in. Assessment depends on many factors, one of the most important ones of which is the honesty of the person assessing your jewellery. It's their business to make a profit obviously, and you can get easily scammed. Before making a final decision I would suggest you shop around. Go to several places and get different quotes just make sure you don't tell them about it.

That's why they want your old gold.

      There are at least three options that are available to sell your gold jewelry.

      1. At a pawn shop - Yuck!
      2. At a jewelry store - Better
      3. Online to a Cash for Gold Buyer

      I have researched and found more than 200+ online gold buyers and there are three top, honest companies that I send all of my family and friends to. The top three on GoldVox.com have at least an "A" rating with the BBB. That means they resolve every customers concern, and have had minimal to zero complaints.

      Just to clarify - "pawning" or using a pawnbroker is not selling your stuff. It is a way of borrowing money. You take out a loan and use valuable posessions as collatarol. Some pawnbrokers do also buy jewellery mind.

      Nothing wrong with wanting to sell unused items, gold prices are through the roof at the moment so it can be worth your while - particularly if its just sitting in a box somewhere.

      Assuming you are in the UK I suggest you visit a few local jewellers - independent ones, not chain stores like H Samuel - (they often say "we buy unwanted gold" in the window). Get a few quotes and see. In bigger cities like London & Birmingham there are segments of the city devoted to jewellry making so you shoud be able to get a good price if you can make it to them!

      To remove a pokemon from your party (the ones you carry with you all the time) go to the Pokemon Center (it's the red-white building) and approach the pc and click on Someone's PC option and then the deposit pokemon option and well store your pokemon in the pc, if you PERMANENTLY wanna get rid of it, deposit it first and then go back, go to the withdraw pokemon option and press A and release it.

      No. you can't carry more than six pokemon with you, once your bag has a total of six pokemon, any pokemon you catch will be transferred to the pc in the pokemon center.

      You won't get very much money from these types of companies. They will give you a very low value for your jewelry, and you don't get to negotiate. They just send you a check for what they want to pay you.

      You'd get more money by selling the jewelry yourself, or even by taking the jewelry to a pawn shop. Before you do anything, take the jewelry to a jewelry store and ask them if they would buy it.

      Never sell your gold to a pawn shop or jeweler. They are just going to turn around and sell what they bought from you to a precious metals refinery for more money than they paid you. I would recommend sending your gold straight to the source. Many precious metals refineries out there are buying gold directly from the public and paying way more than a pawn shop or jeweler. Shop around for refineries posting their prices for individuals. I would recommend looking at Metallix Direct Gold. The have their prices posted daily and offer free shipping and insurance.

      Very beautiful jewelry. The earrings you probably wouldn't get too much for because they are pretty thin. The chains would probably do pretty well. Maybe 100-150 dollars if you take them to the right place. You can always go to a jeweler and get it priced. Not all jewelers will buy back gold. Actually most jewelers won't give you money for it , but will offer you 150 in store credit or however much, but you have to spend double in order for them to honor the credit. Most stores only buy back diamonds. Just look around a bit. Any jeweler would be more than happy to work with you on it!

      Because we're in the middle of a recession. Companies like these generally prey on individuals who are having financial problems; if you notice, the commercials make it sound like you send them a necklace, they send you serious money. Well, Good Morning America did a feature on the industry about 2 months ago; they had gold valued by a reputable appraiser. Sent it to the top 3 "buy your gold" advertisers; in one case, the amount offered was only about 1/4 of its actual worth. It's just another con artist game.

    I know the price of gold is over 00.00 per ounce right now, but I'm wondering what jewelers and pawn brokers pay for your unwanted old gold. Has anyone sold their old gold and know exactly what they were paid per ounce or gram?

      The quoted price of gold (,100 plus per ounce) is for pure gold (24 carats). Most reputed jewellers will pay you the current market price for the pure gold portion of the jewellery. However, since most jewellery in North America is made from lower quality gold (often 18 carats or less), you will get less than ,100/ounce. As for pawn brokers, they may pay whatever they can get away with. I would advise you to talk to more than one jeweller before selling your jewellery.

      They are suppose to give you money based the weight of you gold and if its 24, 18, 14 carats.

      1. They can claim they never got it.
      2. They can claim they only got one item...when you sent 3
      3. They can claim it was 14 carat when it was 24 carat.
      4. They can claim it weighed 3 oz when it weighed 7 oz.
      etc...

      Once they have your jewelry...they have it. You are at their mercy.

      Seeing how the majority of the people out there know very little about jewelry and gold...these folks can easily take advantage of you.

      Take it too a local jeweler...
      1. Find out the weight
      2. Find out the carat rating
      3. Get an estimate

      Once you know the weight and # of carats, you can get online to see what the current price of gold is. A local brick and mortar shop is less likely to take advantage of you. You can watch them weigh it.
