Most certainly, you can find a number of dependable websites where you can market your silver and gold pieces. Generally the modes of payment are by the use of paypal or other trustworthy money interchange websites.

What Determines The Retailing Outlay of Silver
1. Any piece for purchase should be in good form outstandingly gold, jewel stones and silver. The worth of the pieces often rely on the luster and authenticity. That is why is important to clean and polish your silver items before marketing or selling them. Tarnished silver items usually have lower value. So keep the items clean and glossed to impeccability before taking pictures of it and putting it up in your amazon or eBay account.SilverAndGoldExchange.Com is a popular online store that specializes in gold and silver buying.

Then again, there are customers who would like to personally maintain the luminosity and character of their silver pieces. Silver items marked with 92.5 Or .925 Have the supreme retailing value.

2. Assess teh specific patterns of the silver. Patterns are very common to silverware. Consider whether the pattern is rare as it has superior value. Sometimes when these patterns are no longer popular, the cost of the silverware is less significant.

This notion also applies to silver jewelries. Look for added value of the silver item such as gemstones and oddity of the design or even existence of gold.

3. Take into consideration the worth of your piece. Two key elements to consider - form and function. Whether you are retailing pure silver piece but the piece is not even functional or pretty, what do you think are the chances of the item to be bought? By whom? And for how long?

Let's say, you are advertising your old .925 Silver vintage mirror, who do you think will be enticed to buy it? How long do you think before someone gets to buy it? These questions are important to be answered when you are retailing silver items.

Places where to merchandise your silver pieces

Before retailing your items, make sure to figure out why you want to sell it. If you're just starting, it may possibly take awhile before you see the return of investment, just be patient. Cited below are some of the options and places that you can take advantage of when retailing your silver pieces:

1. If you require quick cash, pawnshops are your best bet. They may possibly charge little value in your item but you get to have fast cash.

2. Nowadays, many are opting to sell their silver wares and jewelries online. There are people who work from home and get free advertisement from social networking sites, you may well want to try these alternatives as well. Be cautious of online scams or bogus buyers that might ruin everything for you. You can also search credible online jewelry store such as the SilverandGoldExchange.Com website to sell your silver items.

3. Having a challenging time finding a place to merchandise your silver items? You can search shops or jewelry shops that are amenable to consignment business partnership. Ensure that you know the owner of the shop very well to trust your fortune to him/her. This can be family member, family friend or any trusted individual who has a knack for retailing silvers. It's good to point out that both parties should be aware of the agreement.

4. You can sell your items to your acquaintances as you know very well who - will - like what. You can have a simple house party and show your items to your connections. However, be clever when trading with connections as they might haggle a little way too much beyond your price.

Definitely, it takes 99 percent hardwork and 1 percent inspiration to jump start your silver selling business. Just be honest with what you are doing, as nobody wants to do business with a non-credible shopkeeper or trader.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Where can you SELL silver at actual spot price? Coin dealers will sell but when the price goes up (say 4xs) ?
coin dealers are willing to sell you Silver Eagles at when spot is but if spot goes to 0 where are you going to sell them? i overheard the coin dealer offering to buy a Eagle at when spot was . So ok they make a profit - but if it goes way up and I want to sell several thousand dollars worth why should they buy it? I mean I am a store owner, I sell a product, I would just sit out the highs...I mean why would i buy your silver coin at spot and tie up my money (say ,000 +) to wait to sell it just to make or so dollars per sale - I mean geez how long would that take? Would I really want to tie up my money like that? I don't know - I'm new at this - I don't get what I am going to do with silver eagles when I feel it time to exit the market?

    • ANSWER:
Large dealers are brokers. They turn a profit by trading, just like a stockbroker. They will buy at spot less commission to have inventory to sell at spot plus commission. No inventory, no commission. ALWAYS take possession yourself of your coins and use your own vault, safe deposit box, etc. Years ago a bullion broker charged to store the gold for people and sold it in a ponzi type scheme. People lost everything.

  2. QUESTION:
My mother has a lot of silver flatware to sell. Is now a good time?
She is working with an "advisor" who says that now is a good time to sell silver. But when I look at silver prices, they look about half of what they were six months ago. Is this "advisor" steering my elderly mother wrong, or is the silver price not directly related to the market for silver flatware?

    • ANSWER:
is the advisory going to get anything from this sale? if yes then ignore him. if you are not in a rush for the money the longer you hold on to it the better.

  3. QUESTION:
When I sell silver coins, should I get more money for proof sets than just melt value? Silver dropped today?
    I have;

    4 uncirculated pre-1964 Quarters ( 1959-P , 1961-D , 1962-D , 1964-D )

1 circulated 1951 No Mint Mark? Where is it from?

1 circulated Mercury Dime (Cant find a mint mark, I thought mint mark was on the obverse)

1 1964 Unopened Silver Proof Mint Set that has never been open (Still in the original envelope from the United States Treasury Department from Philadelphia. Still sealed in original envelope

1 1963 Silver Proof Coin Set - The envelope from the treasury department has been opened, but all coins are still in the plastic seal and has Certificate from the Philadelphia Mint.

I know that what I have isn't a lot, But the dealer wants to give me melt value for everything. I thought at the very least I should get alittle more money for the proof sets. Especially the 1964 because it has never been opened from it's envelope. I thought that would increase the value. I know the chances are rare but there could be a cameo, or some kind of error in that set making it more valuable.

I'm new at this, but I love it. I love looking through coins. Silver dropped today, is it time to sell?
I'm young and I think I found a new hobby, I enjoy it so much.

Like I said above, should I sell everything for only melt value? That doesn't seem right to me

any suggestions or advice for this novice collector would be greatly appreciated. I really enjoy all this and the more I know the better.

Sorry, but one more question...Does anyone know any good books to read about coins and collecting?

    • ANSWER:
The 4 uncirculated quarters are worth a little more than melt if they are truly uncirculated. The mint mark on the winged liberty (mercury) dime is on the reverse below the E in ONE. The proof sets are selling for around .95 each. Being sealed does not increase the value of proof sets most of the time. Silver dropping is not uncommon and is not much. The so-called experts expect silver and gold to go up even more next year. If you don't need the money hold onto your coins. Right now proof sets are down in value and that too may turn around when the economy starts to get better. As for books get a Red Book A Guide Book of US Coins. The book has important info such as where mint marks are, a guide to grading each series, lots of history and of course a retail price guide that is to be taken as a guide only. Monthly price guides are more up to date on values. Most series of coins have books on them. In the end books can cost more than coins. I have collected for a log time and have a lot of interests so have shelves of books on coins, medals and tokens of the US and the world. I allow email through Yahoo answers and would be glad to help you if you like. I always recommend going to more than one coin dealer when selling or even buying. Hope this helps

When I sell silver coins, should I get more money for proof sets than just melt value? Silver dropped today?

any suggestions or advice for this novice collector would be greatly appreciated. I really enjoy all this and the more I know the better. I thought when inflation went up, silver and gold goes up, am I wrong?

Sorry, but one more question...Does anyone know any good books to read about coins and collecting?

    • ANSWER:
The four quarters, unless they are _extremely_ nice uncirculated examples, are probably going to sell for melt. There were just too many of them made and saved in nice condition for them to have much of a premium.

Same situation with the 1951. No mintmark would mean it was made in Philadelphia, but the mintmark wasn't in the same place as it is now. Back then, it was on the reverse, between the bottom of the wreath and where it says "Quarter Dollar".

The dime could be worth melt, or it could be worth a lot of money. Without knowing the year and the condition, it's impossible to say. The mintmark on Mercs was also on the reverse, to the right of the word "ONE". Again, no mintmark means Philadelphia.

The '63 and '64 proof sets are also not worth a huge premium, unless there is something special about the coins. If any of the coins are cameos, of course those are worth more, depending on how strong the effect is. Also, in 1964, some of the early Kennedy half-dollar proofs are a variety called "accented hair"--there was more detail in Kennedy's hair than on proofs made later. Those have a premium, but not a large one.

I've never been a big fan of the unopened envelope proof set craze. First, it is possible to steam open and reseal the envelopes, and it's even possible to buy reproduction envelopes, and seal the coins in them, which means it's possible that it's not actually an "unopened" set at all. The coins are protected in the plastic, so it's not like they'll tarnish if the envelope is opened. Second, I really like to see what I'm buying, so I'd rather look at them and see whether they're gorgeous coins, or dogs.

A good book to start with would be the Red Book--or it's official name "A Guide Book of United States Coins". You'll be able to go to any coin dealer and ask for a Red Book, and they'll know what you mean. You can also find it on Amazon.

  10. QUESTION:
What is the cost (est.) after all fess of buying/selling silver bullion?
I ask because I'm told when it is time to sell - the bid prices are two to three dollars less than the spot price. Is this true? If I sold, e.g., one ounce of silver at 40 / ounce spot, would my net AS SELLER be something like 35 after fees and the 'real world' bid price? Help me understand the real world costs here. I'm only looking for hypothetical estimates here, obviously. Thanks.

  11. QUESTION:
I think now is the time to sell Silver as price has gone sky high?
I know I have watched the price of silver go up from /oz to now /oz. I think everybody is buying them up and I think now is the time to sell them instead of buy them. When the price go down again (if ever), that is the time to buy them... ?
In the 80's the silver indeed hit high s / oz. That was because of the manipulation. This time is different. I know silver is going higher, and higher. but it could also fall soon. thinking of what to do. I know its getting harder to buy with the current market price, at least it is for me anyway ...

    • ANSWER:
If I had silver stock Id put in a stop loss .
If I had a large position I might sell 25% but not all.
If I had actual silver Id probably sell 1/2.

  12. QUESTION:
what will the price of silver per oz be?
I want to know when should I sell silver. what do think the price of silver be late 2009? or early 2010?

    • ANSWER:
It is difficult to say. There are some indications that silver might possibly be much more expensive relative to the dollar in 2010. The dollar is not doing too well and there is no indication that it might do better in the future. 2010, 2011, 2012, or in the foreseeable or even the unforeseeable future. In dollar terms silver could possibly reach over 0 an ounce and a loaf of bread before too long.

  13. QUESTION:
What size should is best to sell my silver arowana?
I got him(don't know the sex so i'll say him) when he was about 4ish inches but I have a 29 gallon tank and I'm obviously aware that I wont be keeping him for long but he is around 8inches and looking very colorful for a silver arowana. So about what size could I keep him until it would be best to sell him? on the side note he's looking very healthy and doesn't seem stressed.

    • ANSWER:
As soon as possible. Most people that buy arowanas and other big fish like to grow them from small sizes themselves. At eight inches he's still considered small for an arowana, but worth more than a 4 incher. Much bigger and you risk stunting him in a 29 though.
MonsterFishkeepers has a free classified area. Fair warning: If you let people know the tank size you're keeping him in, I doubt you'll sell him. Even a 55 is considered a very temporary grow out tank for one of those.

  14. QUESTION:
would now be a good time to sell my silver coins? if not, when?

    • ANSWER:
I do not believe that now would be all that good a time to sell. Have you seen what gold has done lately? There may come a time in the not too distant future when the only medium of exchange will be gold and silver. Paper currencies are looking extremely weak at the moment. You did not mention the % of your assets that is in silver. If it is more than 50%, you might want to cash out some just to take a portion of your profits. The future is very unpredictable and some miracle might yet happen.

Where is the best place to start when selling antique silver?

This is no ordianry set. Sterling, Fraget marks. 12 place settings and serving untensils, with box.

    • ANSWER:
Southebys and Christies are both great places to get evaluations to see whether they will accept your silver. Understand that they only take the cream of the crop and having the initial evaluation will give you a future direction if it is not accepted. There are antique consigners and dealers who also specialize in antique silver who are quite reputatble and they both can refer you to the best option for your items.

I was considering this a few years ago, but to buy silver and have it melted down into ingots requires a variety of different licenses from 2 or 3 different government agencies. ( same applies to gold & other precious metals )

  19. QUESTION:
Is It Better To Buy The Actual Silver Bullion or Silver Stocks on the Stock Market?
    Hi,...
I'm very New to all of this but the last time that I tried to buy Stocks in anything the people that I called wanted me to invest at the least ,500 on up to ,000 at one time and at that time I didnt have that kind of money to take that kind of risk with.

I dont know how it works today with you being able to buy Stocks over the internet as easily as you can and from my research I dont think that you can buy "Silver" as it is and that you have to invest in to a company that deals with Silver if I understood that correctly.

So is it better to just go out and search for who ever is selling Silver Bullion the Cheapest and Buy as much as you can afford to at that time and have the Silver Bullion directly in your hands or is it better to try and find a company that deals with Silver and Invest in to that company?

What about the cost of having to deal with a Broker or Fee's that you have to deal with when your dealing with Stocks?

If there is someone out that that can help me and get me pointed in the right direction and possibly help me understand some of the things that I dont understand as far as actually buying Silver Stock,... I would very much appreciate your help friend.

    Thank You Kindly.

    • ANSWER:
Buying silver through a brokerage firm has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, you can sell it really quickly, if you need to. And you don't have to worry that thieves will break in and steal your silver. However, your brokerage firm is required by law to report trading activity to the IRS, so if silver goes up 2500% and you sell it, the IRS is going to know exactly how much money you made. And you do not know what the capital gains tax will be in the future. So, it's a gamble. LOL

If you buy the actual metal silver, the IRS has no idea how much you made on the silver trade. But the disadvantage of buying silver is that someone might break into your house to steal your safe. You have to guard your house. When you buy actual silver coins, you are paying a little bit more, that's true. Coins are ALWAYS more expensive than raw silver--regardless of whether you're trying to buy them or sell them. Of course, the coin traders will make a little commission both when you buy and when you sell it back to them. The commission usually depends on how much you buy. If you buy or sell a larger quantity at one time, you'll pay SMALLER commission! The IRS works the opposite way: When you sell a lot of silver and you make a huge profit, you may find yourself in a higher tax bracket, and you'll pay more $$$ to Uncle Sam. If you sell little silver at small profit, you'll pay less.

I myself have bought actual silver coins. And you'll have to shop around, because I have found that silver traders charge very different commissions. Some traders are trying to make a lot of money on each sale, and some of them only make a little.

If there would be chaos and the value of dollars would go down to virtually zero, we might be able to use the coins to buy stuff. So, I think, it's a good idea to stock up on coins. ;)

Having said that, there are new funds that play with options to give you twice the return of the metal silver! So, if you open a brokerage account, you could buy AGQ, which is the double silver fund. When silver goes up 1%, AGQ goes up 2%. I do not know how long this fund is going to be around, but it is a very good thing.

Also, GOLD has a double ETF as well -- DGP. So, if the price of gold goes up 1%, DGP goes up 2%. If you happen to buy these high performance funds at the wrong time, your money will fall at a much faster rate than if you had bought GLD or SLV. So, be careful.

  20. QUESTION:
    Could I sell gold/silver shares?
My aunt gave me this idea. Many of her friends are getting into gold and silver but can't afford it. She mention that I should divide the gold and silver in 1/10-1/100 a ounce sell the rights to people and when we decide an amount to sell weither its a loss or gain I pay them out and charge a fee. If I forum a business can I do this? The gold and silver is at a bank at the time. Any help is great.

    • ANSWER:
In order to do that, you would first need to obtain a brokerage license, which without considerable financial assets, you would most likely not be granted.

  21. QUESTION:
I'm looking to sell some silver,but...?
I'm not sure if a coin dealer is my best option. I started buying silver when it was at oz Now that it is at I was thinking of cashing some in. I plan on hanging on to the cash and re-buying when it drops. I'm not a huge investor. Just an average Joe sitting on 150oz of silver, and 5oz gold. Any help would be great. I was told by a guy at a coin shop to watch my silver/gold and try to sell, and buy as I go. I'm only looking to sell about 80-100oz's of 1oz bars & coins. Also how much under spot should I expect? Again I am new.

    Thank you for any help.

    • ANSWER:
Try kitco, or maybe ebay. But I suspect your easiest bet is a coin dealer. Buying & selling physical silver has it's problems. You buy at a premium, and you sell at a discount. I would imagine you will get 10 - 20% under spot.

Since you get hit with a mark-up on each silver bar you buy, I would buy 10oz bar's (or maybe larger) instead of 1oz.

I own 10 oz silver bars & 100+ morgan silver dollars. In addition to this, I have a handful of Krugerrands.

  22. QUESTION:
if the dollar fails and I sell the silver/gold...?
When/if the dollar collapses and hyperinflation takes over will I be able to sell my silver/gold for the inflated dollar and pay of my credit card debts and mortgage with ease.

in theory, if I pay for 1oz of silver today, and tomorrow the dollar collapses and it costs 0,000 for the same 1 oz of silver. could i sell the silver and pay off my mortgage?

I keep hearing stories of nations that hyperinflation took place and it costing million dollars for a loaf of bread. I see pictures of people carrying their money in wheel barrows because there is so much of it, and its value is non-existent. I feel like the banks who are causing all this mess would have thought of this. banks tend not to get the the short end of the stick, so where is my logic flawed.

    • ANSWER:
The price of gold is not necessarily linked to inflation. There are many cases where gold prices fall when inflation occurs.

  23. QUESTION:
Is there a place that sells blank silver pendants thick enough to hand stamp on both sides?
I'd like to make sterling silver pendants with a word hand stamped on each side. The thickest blanks I can find are 20 gauge -- which is a little thinner than a dime, so I assume when you stamp on them, it shows through to the other side. Anyone know a resource for thicker blank pendants?

    • ANSWER:
Consider using Precious Metal Clay Silver. PMC3 is specifically designed for the type of work you want to do, and fires to jewelers' grade, pure .999 silver in either a kiln or with a regular gas kitchen range.

Because PMC is pure silver which has been ground into a powder and mixed with water and an organic binder, it can be rolled into any thickness just like regular clay. You can create blanks as thick as you want, or, ideally, stamp the silver when it is in the clay form.

Simply roll out your thickness using several playing cards as guides to keep it even, and press your stamps or mold into it. Fire it to hardness with your kitchen burner (has to be gas) or in a kiln.

Burnish the piece with an agate burnisher or wire brush, and patina with liver of silver if desired.

You can read more about the different types of PMC here:

If you have 2 Nintendo DS's available... then yes, you can trade at the start of the game. But first, you need the regular Pokedex in HeartGold or SoulSilver.

***You asked if you can trade from Gold too, well you can't. You can only trade from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Of course if you wish to get the Pokemon from Firered/Emerald/Saphire... just beat your version of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, get the National Dex, and upload your Pokemon from those games. Then once you have some Kanto Pokemon on Diamond/Pearl, just trade them into HeartGold/SoulSilver. If this doesn't make sense... just ask. I can explain it in more detail if necessary.

Soul Silver might have more copies in Gold because of the variety of Pokemon that are exclusive in each game. Maybe the majority of people who bought the game just liked the exclusive Pokemon that SoulSilver had to offer... actually, that is the only possibly reason... besides on the exclusive Pokemon that are different in each version... both games are exactly the same.

When the English versions come out, I'm getting HeartGold definatly. Arcanine is an exclusive in HeartGold, and Arcane is freaking awesome.

  28. QUESTION:
Today, silver sells for about .25 per troy ounce. How many Morgan silver dollars are required to obtain ?
    this is the condition

The Morgan silver dollar has a mass of 26.73 g. By law, it was required to contain 90% silver, with the remainder being, copper. When the coin was minted in the late 1800s, silver was worth .18 per troy ounce (31.1 g).

    • ANSWER:
A quick google search tells us that a troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams. Then silver sells for
      13.25 ($/to) * 1/31.1034768 (to/g) = .42599739245 $/g.
Since the Morgan silver dollar has a mass of 26.73g, 90% of which is silver, its worth is its silver mass (26.73*.9)g=24.057g (this is confirmed by Wikipedia in the links section) times the worth of a silver gram, .42599739245 $/g.
      26.73*.9*.42599739245 = 10.2482192702 = .25.
But I'm not even sure if it's legal to melt it. Depending on the year it was made, you could sell it for up to ,000! See my second link.
      Cheers!

  29. QUESTION:
    Gold,silver selling inquiry?
    Hi all,
thank you so much one more to all of you guys for answering my questions. I really appreciate it.

    1. How come those local, and online dealer will get gold, silver on the spot price but we cant?
    2. where should I go to sell my gold, silver so i can get the spot price. most dealer will sell you metals on premium but when it comes sell them they will give you or less than the spot price ? where should I go?

hope to hear from you all pretty soon
    thank you
    mike

    • ANSWER:
Both local and online dealers need to make money so there is a spread between what they will buy gold for and what they sell it for, that's how they pay their bills.

You might try selling on ebay, you limit the middleman and could get a better price. Find out what the dealers will give you, then use that as a starting bid for selling on ebay. You have to figure out shipping and insurance costs ahead of time so buyers know their total costs. If by some chance what you list doesn't sell, you'll only be out the ebay listing fee. Remember to subtract ebay's fees when figuring how much you'll make.

Sorry can't email you coz I ain't know who you are, but I'll tell you that you have to wear the lucky colar and use the clover clock before going for a walk. But make sure your dog is BEUATIFUL first. then feed it and give it water, and pet it for a least 2 mins, then walk and you'll get rare items. Don't count on it though, it only works if you've had it for a few months, and your dog can go far on walks.

  33. QUESTION:
Trying to make Flash Powder for extra credit in Chemistry but can`t get it to work!?
Our chemistry teacher gave the challenge to make Flash Powder for some extra credit. Why such a odd pick idk but I can`t get my mixture to work. I`m going with Kn03/Sulphur/Aluminum Powder (5/3/2) Ive used Grants Stump Remover for the Kn03, Reynolds wrap for AL, and regular Sulphur for Sulphur ^_^ but can`t get it to work. Ive grinded the Sulphur and Kn03 till its finer then flower! Also spent 20 minutes each day grinding Aluminum for the past 2 weeks and I don`t think I can get it any finer than what it is. I know FP will ignite very easy even if its not contained/packed but I can not get mine to do that?? When I put a flame to it it will smell like a firework but not ignite and Flash? Does anyone know if my mixture could be bad? I`m measuring it by grams and it is exact. I`m also mixing the FP by folding paper and have mixed it in a baggy. So my question really is - How can I make FP that will ignite and make a flash? Ive also contacted every place in Kansas that might sell Silver Pigment or Aluminum Powder and noone will sell it. I know you can buy it over the internet but I just want to make some for EC =- P . Any help would be much appreciated! At a 87% in the class and would love to hit the 90`s. =- )
Trying to "Snow" you? O.o hmm ok then. An Yes she assigns the project too 3 or 4 kids every year who are really interested in Chemistry me being one of them is trying to get the stuff made and get the points. Yes we are supervised by the teacher when making "attempting" to make it but she will not help.. About the post above.. She said that a kid 2 years ago used Stump Removed and it worked for him so I think it should be fine for this.. Im hoping?

    • ANSWER:
I agree, either your fooling us or your chemistry teacher is an idiot. Flash Powder is considered a high explosive by the BATFE and it's illegal to make without a Type 20 High Explosives Manufacturing License.
I'm surprised the school is letting this kind of thing happen.

  34. QUESTION:
Where in North Carolina or anywhere else, can you sell old American Eagle Silver Dollar Coins for good value?
I have old American Eagle Silver Dollar Coins, from the 1980's up to the 2000's. If you know where I can sell them around North Carolina, where I would get a good value for them, or if you have any information on these types of coins, it's all greatly appreciated! Thanks!

P.S- When I say North Carolina, i'm around Charlotte. So somewhere nearby would be ideal, but i'm willing to travel some too, if need-be. Thanks again!

    • ANSWER:
With these two links you can search for local coin dealers and coin clubs with people who will help you. The value of silver American Eagle coins is based on the current spot price of silver though dealers will pay a bit less in order to make a profit.

  35. QUESTION:
    Silver precious metal plane?
Ok so this may sound rather like an odd question BUT... i am about to move to france for 2.5 months and my finance during that time will be a mix of euros and silver selling. I have about 75 ounces give or take an ounce or two of purebullion silver here in the US. I have rounds... American silver eagles.. maple leafs... .999 reproductions. I WANT TO KNOW... how I take them on the plane when I move to paris. If I go through the metal detector with 20 silver eagles in my pocket I have a feeling it might not go so well... but I am wary of checking my bag... 75 ounces is thousands of dollars in silver...should I just send it through the mail to wear IM going? should I take it in a carry on and deal with the TSA when I get there? put them in mint tubes before I deal with security? how should I do this?

    • ANSWER:
It's fine to bring in your carry on luggage, just make sure you declare the silver and coins if the value is ,000 or more. You'll need to fill out a currency declaration form if the value is ,000 or more, if you don't the coins can be seized. Whatever you do, don't try to go through a metal detector or scanner with coins in your pockets or on your person.

  36. QUESTION:
I want to sell my Ipod Nano?
I have an Ipod Nano 4 Gig that I bought 6 months ago. I saw this years version at costco and I saw the 4 gig video Nano. I want to sell my silver nano. What price should I sell it for? I have a really small black mark on it and a couple of minor scratches on the back where it says Ipod (u can see them when reflecting on the light) What price should I sell it for. I bought it for 250 or 150 I think i dont remember. I wanna sell it for 100$

P.S. the new Ipod Nano 4 gig video is 150$ at Costco...
I have first edition but I want to sell it and buy newest one

    • ANSWER:
Id say you probably would get 70-80$ for it but if 100$ is what you want then you should try to sell it for 100$, if you don't sell it you can always bring it down later.

  37. QUESTION:
    Investing In Silver Bullion?
I'm starting to put a few dollars of my income into silver bullion and i have a few questions.
Are silver rounds better to buy than silver bars?
When does a person sell their silver?
What places around the house can you store your bullion (hidding spot)?
    What's the best amount with the least premium (1 ,5 ,10 ,50 , 100 oz)?

    • ANSWER:
it's nuts to pay the high fees/commisions (hidden and not hidden) of buying silver bullion... plus shipping &/or storage costs. The largest deposit of silver in the world is with the ETF "SLV". Use your on-line broker and your total commisions will be between and (depending on your broker)....

If you don't have a broker.... why would you start with silver? Commodities are really best bought/sold by experianced investors or traders. Always invest only in things you totally understand!

  38. QUESTION:
    Who is manipulating silver futures?
And why? Every time silver goes up somewhat over ten dollars, somebody sells short, a HUGE amount, and brings the price down to less than ten dollars. What's the point? Historically, when the stock market goes nuts, people tend to buy precious metals, not sell them.
I have read that silver mines aren't even selling any silver, and neither are the smelters. Some mints are shutting down because they can't get silver. There is supposedly an ounce and a half of silver used for every ounce that is mined. One would think that silver would be skyrocketing in price. Instead, I have a 100 ounce bar of silver which is now worth only about 2/3 of what I paid for it.

    • ANSWER:
I don't think you can track it down to one person, corporation or conglomerate.

  39. QUESTION:
How do I get into forex silver trading?
Oh god I know I'm going to get tons of spam responses here but here goes... Hopefully there are some honest people out there.

My dad keeps advising me to get into forex silver trading. The way he has described it makes it seem great; that there are high profit yields and low risks when using a forex platform. But it's been extremely hard for me to find honest advice out there in the interweb, as most sites just seem to be biased and self promoting. I'm considering investing 0 dollars or so and would like to find a program that works, but it's been really hard to get any good factual information.

My dad explained that forex works in things called "pips" where every penny of gain/loss in silver is worth around .00. So if silver increased ten cents today, you would have profited or lost if it was the other way around. My dad explained that programs will have an option to sell if silver gets below a certain point to mitigate your losses. If I was investing in 0 lets say, I could lose the money quick if I wasn't watching it, but if a program was doing it for me... Well then it sounds like it would be too easy to profit.

My dad isn't particularly rational and I think he doesn't know how to sort through the junk of misinformation in the business world. For me, trying to find information on silver trading on the internet is much more difficult then trying to find factual information about a subject in college, as most people out there seem to be solely concerned into manipulating people into acting in a given behavior that benefits their pocket book.

Please give me some advice on how to get into forex silver trading as a young and broke student (supposing that one should get into it at all!).

    Thanks,
Flavius, what do you think the point of this question is? Did you even read my post? I'm not about to spend 0 NOW. I'm trying to get more information from good sources before I invest, and I don't expect to get all that information from yahoo answers anyways.

I don't mean that high profit and low risk are something inherently related to any investment scheme. I meant that a computer program would be able to manage risks through math rather than human reasoning, like commands to "sell" when x object drops below Y dollar amount. It doesn't seem like that difficult of a concept.

Now could anyone else, that can actually read, please advise me?

    • ANSWER:
trade silver high risk. as you already know, if it goes 10 cents the other way, you will loss .
that's counting standard lot in silver which 1 lot is 5000troy.

if you want lower risk, just trade gold. 1 lot gold is 100troy.

and if you want to start as small as 0 i will certainly not recommend you to jump into silver.
it's very high risk (and high return)
but with 0, trade 0.01lot (1troy) of gold is quite safe. low risk with reasonable returns.
targeting 20% return each month is very rationale. even 50% monthly return is not impossible.

if you insist trading silver, i would recommend a minimum 0 to trade 0.01lot (50 troy) silver.
find a broker that allow micro lot.

watch the trade size very carefully. what i recommend is a safe trading that let you have consistent profit without affected by too much fear when the market is against you.
any size more than 0.01lot will give you extra fear and easily take all your money away.
(or make you rich very quickly)

in short, any size more than that would not be trading. it would become gambling.
so, it's your choice. trading consistently or gambling.

  40. QUESTION:
Do pawn shops have precision scales to weigh gold and silver when you want to sell your stuff?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, any pawn shop that's buying gold by weight should have a scale. The level of precision of that scale will vary from shop to shop. I wouldn't worry about it being exact. I would more worry that the scale starts at 0 with nothing on it. If they have it at a negative starting value, then they are trying to scam you into thinking you have less weight than you actually do.

  41. QUESTION:
Can you buy silver bars over-the-counter at Swiss Banks?
If I bought 3 silver bars, then keep them in my safe, am I required to pay property taxes every year?

Also, are silver bars as easy to sell as US Silver Eagles?

When it's time to sell them (if it's an emergency, for example if I get poor), what if I melted them then make jewellries instead of selling them to precious metal dealers? Will that be very profitable?

    • ANSWER:
      No.
      No.
      Yes.
      OK,
      No.

  42. QUESTION:
How can I tell if my ring is real silver?
so I have this ring from Cozumel, Mexico (Which I've heard reviews on them selling fake silver) They said to check if it is real silver, it will have a 925 printed on it. My ring has that 925 on it. But The ring is peeling? The shiny silver is peeling off like a paint, but it's still silver underneath? When I bit it, it didn't bend or anything. So I'm confused, if it's real silver with just a silver paint over it for shine, or if it's fake? I will say it again, the ring WAS silver underneath whatever the "paint" was. so is it real silver, or is there anything I can do to figure out? It hasn't turned my finger green from wearing it, if that helps?

(Oh, it also has no sort of scent too)

    • ANSWER:
It sounds like a fake. I don't know what 925 means, but anyone could print it.

If the silver is peeling off, that means they did a poor job of silver plating it. Underneath is probably pot metal or steel or zinc, all of which are silver in color. In fact, all metals are silver colored except gold and copper.

Green skin would be due to copper, which is the wrong color.

  43. QUESTION:
buying silver then selling it before Christmas, good investment?
so if i bought about 300 to 500 dollars worth of silver, then before christmas 2011 sold it all when the price was high would that be a good yearly wait to try and earn a lot more money?

    • ANSWER:
It's not that easy. I'd recommend checking out experienced investors on this topic. The guy below seems to explain pretty well what's going to eventually happen. Gold will not continue to rise nor will silver indefinitely. As of now, it looks to potentially be a bubble, in the event our economy recovers soon.

Give the below a read. Good luck! And don't take on too much risk unless you're absolutely sure of what you're doing!

  44. QUESTION:
Wasn't it particularly silly of the Labour government to sell our Gold reserves for a lousy price?
Gordon Brown and the Labour party used to accuse the Conservative Government of 'selling the family silver' when privatisation measures were introduced. They then enthusiastically started privatisations themselves and rather ironically sold a large part of British gold reserves for rock bottom prices. Now that gold prices are so much higher - don't they look a bit stupid and shortsighted?

  45. QUESTION:
Trying to get out of debt, when is the best time to sell our scrap gold and silver?
My husband and I are trying to get out of debt, paying off credit cards, student loans, etc. We have made quite a dent in the past two years considering we have a six year old, four year old, and one year old. We have a decent amount of scrap gold and silver we would like to sell to pay off debt or invest in my husbands business (he needs cash for a buying trip as we sell items online). We have a friend that does this and will give us a fair price for it. Do we hold onto it and hope that the prices continue to climb, or go ahead and sell it and pay towards our debt or invest in the business now? When do you think it will reach it's peak price?

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately, it is not clear when gold and silver will "peak", but it looks like some point in the indefinite future. It could be next month, it could be years down the road. Gold and silver have appreciated nicely over the past 5 years, but I don't think anyone can tell you when the best time to sell would be.

  47. QUESTION:
Why do coin shops buy only at weight-level-worth for silver coins?
I'd bought a collectible Lewis & Clark Comemorative silver proof coin from the US Mint a few years ago.
Recently, I took it down to the local coin shop curious to see what it might be worth.
The dealer there weighed it, and offered me the amount silver was selling for at the time.
When I told him I'd bought it for slightly more than what he was offering, he said they buy only at the weight value, but would not explain further.
Any collectors out there who'd be able to help me with this?

    • ANSWER:
If you are talking about the 2004 Lewis & Clark commemorative , then consider the following:
I assume you left it in the original plastic capsule. Removing US commemorative silver coins from the capsules is a huge no-no.
It also makes a difference whether you still have the original box and Certificate of Authenticity. (Not much difference in price between proof and uncirculated coins).
If you did all that, then your coin should go for between and on eBay.

Current silver value is .77 ounces * about /ounce or .78, which is low for that coin unless it has problems. The dealer shouldn't have had to weigh it - all US silver dollars are precisely the same weight.

Added later: The questioner has informed me that the coin is indeed in the original capsule and he does have the box of issue and COA. Since this is the case, he is simply getting a very low offer from the dealer. I don't know offhand what Green Sheet buy is for that coin, but I would guess at least . If this dealer is offering or less, he is trying to rip you off.
