      Do not clean the coins. You can take them to local coin dealers in your area. To help you before that see if a coin club is in your area and ask them about values they will help. Do not be surprised if the coins have little value for coins from the 1830's to 1950's usually have little value. They are not considered old by the coin collecting community. Do not take them to an antique dealer or pawn shop for they usually don't know value and if they do are not the most honest people.

      4. Find out how much people are willing to pay for your wares. Click on the link that says "highest price." If you can't make and sell your product for a profit, eBay might not be your marketplace.

      5. Determine how much money you'll make on your product. If it takes you eight hours to make a piece of jewelry and the highest priced similar item sells on eBay for , you won't make a profit.

See if the seller used any of eBay's special features such as gallery photos or a bold, featured listing. Evaluate the starting price, starting day of the week, and duration of winning auctions.

If they're past a certain date they may have lost their face value and will be only be worth collector value.That is often less than face value.Bank notes are usually of little value to a collector unless they are in new condition.Try you library to see if they have a book on paper money.Or there's buyers in a magazine like Coin World.

      Your coin is not silver but is made of copper-nickel which has a silver color. It is KM# 531 and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Nationalization of the Oil Industry in Mexico. It had a mintage of 50,000,000 so it is not scarce. It is also no longer legal tender in Mexico due to the monetary reform of 1992 where 1000 old Peso's was worth 1 new Peso and the time to change them in is long over. Sorry but it is just worth around - depending on grade. You would not easily find a buyer though. You need to find a dealer who would want it. If you live in the USA near the Mexican border then you may find a buyer.

      I would start asking around and see if you can find a coin collector. This should be someone you trust who can give you an honest evaluation. I have the books and such, but live across the Pond.

      A dealer will only give you a small fraction of their worth, and many will play on your lack of knowledge. Sad, but true.

      You can get current values by getting a copy of CoinValues magazine at a local bookstore. You don't mention the grade of the '38 Walker. As a collector you know the condition of the coin is key to assessing its value. Unless the coins are certified by a third party grading service almost everyone is going to want a look at the coins and those with only moderate experience will want to look at the coins even if they are certified. My suggestion would be to take them to a coin dealer or to a local coin club to sell them. You might get more from the collectors at the coin club than you would from a dealer.

    I have roughly 130 dollars worth of old coins according to coinflation dot com. They are mainly Eisonhower dollars. Do you know of anywhere I can get melt value for them or do they run at face value?

      The vast majority of Ike dollars are not silver. Only the special ones that were available from the mint in special packaging were. They are just made of copper & nickel. The ones in circulated grades are just worth a dollar. Mint state ones have a small added value.

      ebay bidders are looking to get it for the lowest price they can. I am sorry to tell you that while you may have some very old coins, you may not have any valuable coins. The value is determined by the condition, their availability, certain mint markings etc.

      I would suggest you get a current book on coins and try to determine if you have anything of value. If you do, get an appraiser to give you an estimated value and then sell them to coin collectors.

      Any COIN DEALER will buy them. Check your local telephone Yellow Pages. If you don't have a local dealer, search on-line for "Coin Dealer". However, you'd have to ship them. India made TONS of different coins and notes, and lots of them have minimal value. Have you been to your local Library to research the retail value? And, please note, you'll get 10% to 50% of retail, AT BEST, from a dealer, for /up valued items, LESS for inexpensive items.

      I have seen the home shopping shows sell VERY old and they look it for very little money. If you were expecting to retire on the sell I think you can forget it.

      But do not get mixed up with anyone here who emails you wanting to give you a "good deal" until you have someone who knows what they are looking at value it for you.

      If you could take pics and the link to them you might get a better answer.

      My feel, just from TV is a coupple of hundred dollars and even at that they are overpricing the items anyway.

      How much have you been asking? You might have to be more realistic with your price if you want to sell it.

      Oh and if you find out the coin is really valuable then you better be prepared to give the buyer FULL details on where you got it.
